I arrived in Kansas on November 7th. it was to late to scout out the farm i was going to hunt. The farm is a family friend in South East Kansas. Rick the owner of the farm told me there where 4 big bucks that he has seen on the farm and some smaller bucks. The morning of the 8th. i went scouting to see where i was going to put out my double bull blind. The first half hour of scouting i seen 2 does feeding at the edge of a small field they kept looking in the brush behind them i knew the rut was close so i stayed there and watched them a couple minutes later a 160 class 4X4 came out and started chasing the 2 does all over that small field. I watched them for 30 minutes it was cool he was grunting and running those does all over the place. I backed out and went back to the house with high hopes. I set my blind up in the middle of the day and hunted that evening. I was at the blind at 1:30 P.M. got in the blind and let everything quit down for about 30 minutes and did a couple grunts about 10 minutes later had a nice 4X3 step out at 80 yards he started to feed i grunted at him and he would look my way but was not interested in my calling so i just watched him feed away. :'( About 1 hour before dark all hell broke loose i seen 7 more bucks all chasing does and grunting 4 of them where 140 to 170 class bucks almost got a shot at a 150 class 3X3 he came in to my grunts at 35 yds. got have way drawn on him and he took of running after another big buck chasing does. :'( Well to make a long story short i hunted 5 more day's and moved my blind three times and waited for the right wind and had 2 does come in 30 minutes before dark and started feeding right i front of me at 20 yrds. a couple minutes later i herd grunting and looked to my left and seen this buck coming with head down grunting every step i stopped him right in front of the blind with a soft grunt and shot him through both lungs. IT was a great hunt and cant what to do it again. :) :)

Nice!!
I love KS but getting permission was really difficult. I think the next world record could easily come from Kansas.

There are some great bucks if you have a place to hunt that doesn't get allot of pressure. I am pretty lucky to have friends there. Truly a hunt of a life time.

Very nice buck!

Hey Turkeyman, what town were you near? I hail from Southeast Ks myself, near Garnett. My nephew and I were out there bowhunting week before thanksgiving on our family farm. He shot a nice three and a half year old buck (142 p&y) for his first book deer. Saw lots of nice deer I didn't drop string on anything. Congratulations on a fine deer!

Fort Scott is where i hunted. I was born in Pittsburgh
