Dad drew the spring tag. I have been reading around and it sounds like only kids under 18 and your spouse can go with you after you purchase the spring bear pass? Im over 18, is there a way around that? Can I buy a pass as well to go with him? Hopefully we can figure something out. :dunno: :dunno: :dunno:
Also, if anyone has any tips for the unit, let me know please! Hunted it a few years back but didn't have much luck as we only had a weekend to hunt.
-
Not sure of the spring rules but the regular pass is for kids under 19
-
I beleive it is under 19 for the spring bear pass and I don't believe you can buy a spring pass unless you are drawn , if you want to go with you would have to buy the full season pass .
-
I drew Kapowsin as well. I guess I didn't read the rules very well...I can't have a hunting partner with me unless they have an access permit as well?
-
That sucks.
-
Drew Kapowsin last year .... yes ,you'll need to purchase the access pass for spring bear ....last year it was $100 . I don't know how many bears were shot in there last year though .....
-
Did you get one Cap.Silver? See any?
-
thats the only way he posts :hello:
kapowsin is a tough hunt. my wife and i had tags in 2013 and both killed bears. 4 other bears were taken by the other 148 tag holders that year.
-
tag
-
$375 for permit this year. Wish I knew that before putting in for the tag.
-

I think you can buy a $100 for spring bear only.... someone else will verify more quickly than me.
-
So,
They want you to kill bears that damage their trees. But they also want you to pay to do it?
I need to buy me some timber companies.
-

Yes there is a separate spring permit you can buy. I know it's around 100 but I can't be sure. And yes, once again, you should have known a permit was required before you put in. All the information is there and readily available.
-
If you can get in for $100 I'd step up and go for it. Time spent with you dad is well worth it....best of luck!
-
Buy the permit and get out with your dad. Just lost my dad Feb. 15th and this hunting season is going to be a hard one without him. The permits came out the 2nd and my first thought was to call him to let him know, saw the changes for muzzle loading seasons on the east side, again my first thought was to call. This sucks.
So do what you can to spend every moment you can with him doing what the two of you like.
-
Kglacken's dad can get in for a $100 , he drew the permit , and only the permit holders can get in for a $100 . If Kglacken wants to go with his dad he will have to pony up $375 for the years pass . Your dad will also have to go to their office at the main gate to get his pass ,at least last year that is what I had to do ,I don't believe they do it on line . I had this tag last year and really enjoyed the hunt and the area . I liked the area so much this year I bought the year pass .

Great advice! I wish my Dad could go nowadays but glad he's still around.

What a joke! They are ripping people off!. The thing they also don't tell you is that they have guys run the bears with dogs on depredation hunts.

In Kapowsin?
I'm not sure how much that will impact the Spring hunt... :dunno:
-
I had that tag a few years back, and it was slow going I did find sign heavier the higher up I went. It was a late spring that year though I think this year they will be peeling early with all this warm weather getting the trees to start sapping up.
-

No they don't!! They should though!

I was told this by a guy that patrols the kapowisin checking permits and looking for wood poachers.
-
Sorry for the late reply .No I didn't get a bear , I ran into elk and deer though. I didn't really had too much time to explore the area ,but there is many great places and I didn't see any fresh signs .
I would suggest to have the lady show you on the map the entry gates as far as access points into the area when you go pick up your key - yes ,you should have your drivers license ,insurance a license plate info with you and you will have to sign release liability form . You'll be given more detailed map (don't expect too much :-) and key . If you'd like to have your dad come along - he'll have to pay the annual fee . Only your spouse and kids younger then 19 can ride with you on your pass ..... (You'd have to list their names on the form )
If you'd like I can give you the map I was given last year -where I marked few spots .
There is lot of skunk cabbage around there ,streams , dense reprod along with much thinner tree growth .
That is as much info as I can share . Maybe someone else here has something to add?
-

I think you were given bad info, or misunderstood. Maybe they will eventually but right now they don't

They don't run bears with dogs in there. They feed them I. One side of the river and have the hunt area on the other side and for the life of me I can't figure out why they don't open both sides for the hunt. The bears come out on the north side of the river well before you start seeing a bunch of action in the hunt area. I know this hunt pretty well if anyone wants a tag along for a day and it works with my schedule let me know, I do love spring bear hunting but just can't get myself to put in for this hunt again till I draw a blues tag or they open the north side of the river. About the second biggest black bear I've ever seen was spring on the north side of the tree farm. Some pigs in there
-
theyre up boys
caught this cute little guy cruisin
-
Glad to see they are up and moving around. Last year I drew 49 deg and they didn't start moving until June.
-
tag holders, feel free to msg me for my number, im more than willing to help you guys get one out of the brush.
i live real nearby.
-
Anyone seeing any signs in Kapowsin? I haven't seen 1 single pile of scat.
-
It's still early. There out but they come out on the north side of the river first. Come may there will be plenty of activity
-
I might head out Saturday and look around - my first time on the property.
-
I was in there Friday seen a ton of elk sign but no bear. First time being in the kapowsin side haven't bought a pass in a couple years but when I did before I only ever went in the bridge gate or Buckley gate
-
Bridge gate this last Saturday. Their out and moving
-
Bummer the bridge gate side isn't open for the spring season.
-
Bridge gate this last Saturday. Their out and moving
Looks like the swamp right off the main line heading back toward Paterson .I useally see a sow with cubs in there early every year
-
Bummer the bridge gate side isn't open for the spring season.
If they ever do I'll put in for it again. But I was told they won't
-
I saw a young one Sunday up behind the lake. Edge of a cut.
-
What is the deal with this boundary thing, don't get this. They want to feed these bears on one side of the river than have this hunt on the other? :dunno:
-
Don't they feed them to keep them from from peeling trees?
-
Don't they feed them to keep them from from peeling trees?
they do, and you would think if it was effective they would just do that and not have the damage hunt at all since that is the very definition of why there is a spring hunt to begin with on timber land. my own personal theory is there not real interested in killing many bears to begin with. on this property theirs many "escapement" areas that are closed to vehicle traffic. bears being what they are and not liking human contact cause more tree damage in those areas. opening them up to 150 tag holders to drive through there keeps the bears moving around thus not concentrating damage in one spot. only about 8 to 14 of these tags get filled every year with the trend being closer to the single digits. if they really wanted to take a certain number of bears out they would either run them with dogs or give out say 30 bait permits and there would be 30 bears killed, or what ever the number they deem fit.
its a fun hunt but you really need to know it. or get lucky on back to back days walking up the same grassy logging road with your wife and kill two bears :hello: i wont put in for it again till i draw a blues tag or they do indeed instill a bait season. if they did that you could pull a hog out of there if you know what your doing and where to bait.

:cryriver: :pee:
-
Well, I was down there and picked up Spring Access Pass #1 yesterday. :IBCOOL: Bear or no bear, it will be fun to get out and spend some time in the woods. I will be in there next Friday, maybe I will run into a few of you.
-
Any action, any sightings thus far boys?
-
I've been up three times this last week and so far no signs of any of Pooh's cousins. There are lots of nice fresh green things sprouting up for them to munch when they do pop out. Maybe the warm weather coming this weekend will get the action going.
-
Monday evening I came across 2 rotten stumps that had been resently work over .
-
Was in there yesterday. Tons of elk sign! Bumped one cow elk off the road not more than 30 yards from me. Found one section where the bears got in pretty heavy last year. One little tree had a few scratches on it and one paw print. Other than that I saw nothing telling me that yogi had woken up yet. At least in the area I was.
I did hear 7 shots south of Camp 7 about 1 pm yesterday. Hopefully someone connected.

Unless your dad is a disabled hunter.... Then all you need to do is sign a release...... No money out of pocket from you!!

7 consecutive?
Seems like a strange scenario since target practice is not allowed. Plus, 7 rounds down range for a single bear seems unusual...?

7 Shots... anyone needing 7 shots to connect doesn't deserve the privilege.

He might be using a 243 or 425-06 it might take some lead to put it down :bdid:

Dad drew the tag... IF by chance he is a disabled hunter, $100 pass fo him, $0 fo his helper. All the son would need to do is sign the release..... Like my friend is doing with me.

Please inform me as to what is wrong with a .243 or .25-06 for black bear. Grizzly bears I understand but I would not hesitate to take a black bear with my .25-06. Probably going to do it next week if I don't use my bow.

The only reason it "would take some lead to put it down" is because the shot placement wasn't correct.
-
Just because target practice is not allowed does'nt mean it does'nt happen . I've heard it / seen it many times . There is not enough security to watch every area all the time .
-
Found fresh sign yesterday.
-
We are hopefully getting out there this weekend again! Havent seen anything fresh yet but found some good areas! Im hoping this weather this week will wake them up!
-
They are out there this is from a property minutes from the gates
-
Excellent!!!
Great pic!

How many minutes? :chuckle:
-
Its off of 264th on a buddys property. I haven't put any cams on my place which is walking distance to the farm, though some of the neighbors have told me that they have seen them cross the road into my property.
-
No bears yet. Just deer and elk this morning. Did find some very fresh bear sign tho.
-
I'd say that's fresh! He shouldn't be too far I would think, go get em!!
-
Saw 3 on Friday, 1 Saturday & 1 on Sunday. the place is boiling.
-
What side?
-
Was in there this afternoon. I did not see much of anything. Was in some very beary area too. If they were awake they would have been where I was. Saw a bunch of sign from last year. Even found what looked to be an old rudimentary bait site. Syrup bottle with all kinds of teeth marks in it. Saw a handful to deer and tons of elk sign. I am not saying they are not awake. Just not awake in the area I was hunting. I might have been too high for this part of the season.
-
They've been up for a long time now, that's not really a facto by May . What is a factor in there is location. The highest activity is on the other side of the river out of the hunt area. Come end of May/June it starts to balance out
-
Kapowsin bear on the move got some day time pictures as well
-
One came out of there today, saw him at the gate. Not sure if he's a member or not. First one I've heard of this year
-
What kind of truck was he driving? Had a rig drive in on me when I was glassing, they were kind enough to back out quietly. I ended up coming up on them so I turned around and went somewhere else. About an hour later I heard a single shot from the direction they had gone. I think they were in a Chevy.
-
Grey chevey Colorado . But he killed his with a bow so you'd have to have real good ears :chuckle:
-
I thought that shot sounded different :)......good for him!! Black, chocolate or other??
-
Little black boar with three legs. It's actually one I've seen a few times . Used to hang around down by the offices a coupe years ago but I think he got it up higher for the sounds of it.
-
I was out yesterday late afternoon. Didn't see any bear activity, light sign but saw a few cow elk & deer. I'll probably head back today and glass around.
Anyone else heading out there today?
Any pics of the bear shot with a bow?
-
Ill probibly head up this afternoon. Ill be in a silver jeep.
-
Was in there on Friday. Found a really fresh peel. I missed this bear by less than a couple hours. Some poo with fur in it. About the size of a cow pie. Decided to come back to the area I had seen the peel in later in the afternoon as it was right near a clearcut. Was planning to see if I could call something out of the timber. I parked about 100 yds from the dead end where I found the peel. As I was climbing out of my truck a brand new red Chevy 1500/2500 passes me and proceeds to the end of the road and parks. Really buddy?! Hats of to you to being a complete tool!
-
That's why you park in middle of the road on those dead ends. No pics of the archery bear since it wasn't mine or anyone I knew. It was feeding on the edge of a clear cut from the story I got.
-
Netminders on the right track up there and tonight should be pretty quite up there. Hopefully he can nock one down
-
We were in a super hot area tonight. We had one spur road about a mile long that we walked and counted 26 peels. Super fresh. Fresh poop but no bear. Be out again in 2 weeks after we get back from CA. Fun day still!
-
I was out all weekend. Saw a bunch of fresh scat and peels, but no bears. Tried calling for a couple of hours but just brought in a bull Elk. Heard a shot on Saturday just before noon, not sure if they connected with anything.

I saw that guy too; he ripped past me in a hurry mid afternoon. Older red chevy lifted a few inches?
-
I was in there Friday. This was probably around 2:30 on Friday. And it was a brand spanking new Chevy. Kind of a dick move by that guy if you ask me.
-
There's some real winners in there. One of my favorites was two deer seasons ago. I was stopped in middle of a dead end road not 100 yards from the end of it. Standing on the running board watching a group of bucks. Guy pulls up behind me, I ignore him. Bout 5 min goes by and I give him the what do you want shrug. He gets out and asks if I'm goin to let him by. I just laughed in his face and said no. Man that guy was pissed, and told me I was a dick for not letting him by. Yeah sure buddy come right around me for the 100 yards left on the road, while your at it go ahead and shoot that buck I've been watching, anything else would make me a dick. I didn't shoot any of those deer, wasn't ever planning on it but he didn't know that. Have at least a little curtesy
As bad as it can be it's still head and shoulders above anywhere else when it comes to gen season around here

That wasn't the guy I saw yesterday...

Well I have a Kapowsin tag and have yet to venture out. Crazy busy schedule lately but hopefully this weekend. A friend of mine helped another hunter get his first bear out of there then proceeded to arrow one for himself a couple of days later. An sweet looking old boar he named tripod due to it having a good part of one of it's legs missing. I'll check to see if he wants to share some pictures.
-
Seems odd that someone can kill a bear, then arrow one a few days later when I've only seen one bear ever up there and rode my bike 100+ miles. Whats the trick?
-
There's bears all over in there duckslayer
-

Hey Duck - I'll probably be spending time in there this weekend. I'm a newb to the area but have a few places that looked good last weekend and got some 411 from Longwalker too! PM me if interested.
-
I heard a single shot yesterday at 2:03 - any news? Hopefully it was from Hunt WA member... It was about 1-2 miles from my location while glassing a clearcut and eating lunch.
I've not seen a single bear; OK sign (just OK), decent # of blacktail does and watched a nice 5x? elk high in the timber for about 45 minutes.
-
150 tags for this unit and not 1 bear has been hauled out yet? Anyone?
-
I'll be in there again this weekend hitting it hard...they gotta be in there somewhere... :dunno:
-
I've put a fair amount of miles in and not seen much of any sign. I've also not seen too many other people; I wonder if the bulk of permit holders are waiting for the last 2 weeks tag out...? I thought about heading down today - and still might be the engine light on the truck is making me think twice.
I'm open for skipping out of work one - or a few days during next week or the week after since my Weekends are full. If anyone wants to team up, let me know.
-
I know of 1 that was taken I will not post it tho till permission is given, he may post too I think he is a member aswell
-
I saw a chocolate come out not too long ago.
-
I have only heard of two bears coming out. One chocolate one and one with only 3 legs.
-
So i have put in about 20 days so far in this Spring bear hunt and have seen 3 bears total and only know of 1 bear taken and that's the 3 legged 2 year old cub...
This is a very tough hunt especially since they feed the bears on the other side of the river that is closed to us. :bash: Not cool... It's getting to be crunch time and we are not sure what to do now. We have torn up these hills high and low, mainly low the past 3 weeks or so and barely any trees peeled at all. Were going to keep at it.

The reports of past results show how few bears are killed with this tag, it's a tough hunt.

Keep your head up I have put about the same amount of time in hunting the Lincoln unit I have seen a mother and a cub could have taken each but obviously I didn't also saw a juvenile running down the road but I do not travel with loaded firearms in the vehicle nor do I shoot off the road I also have a big Bore that has showed up on the trail camera three different times along with two other pairs that have showed up once on the same trail camera have not had the opportunity to see and these animals in person. I have tried calling to know avail and I guess the only thing I can do is sit and wait I know I'm in a good area because the trail cams show the Bears showing up but it's a long long long wait. Ironic thing is I have scouted other areas and saw sign bear tracks mainly but haven't had any cameras out in those areas the place I do have my cameras at I have never seen any tracks but I did see a big Poo. early in the season. Truth be told I missed running into a bear at said location by one hour via trail cam evidence. Somebody on the Lincoln thread told me to keep my head up but this is a tough hunt and it sure made me feel better. So keep your head up this is a tough hunt

This hunt is beyond a "tough hunt". It's ridiculous. Only about 30% of the property is open for Spring tag holders and they are feeding them in the areas not open. A waste of money, time, and points in my opinion. Why not only give out 25 tags and let them hunt the entire property? The only good parts are the views of Ranier, putting some miles on my boots, watching the antlers grow on some really nice bulls, and randomly meeting some nice guys.
-
3 legged 2 year old cub? Actually an older Boar and the gentleman that killed it was with a bow. He also helped a friend of his get a bear in the unit and another acquaintance shot a bear in there as well. That's 3 that I've seen pictures of....
-
I know i pulled a spring bear tag and have seen lots n lots of sign but has anyone actually seen any bears other then the 3 tags that have been filled?
-

If you've seen "lots of sign" that's more than me. I've seen one freshly peeled tree some fresh scat but that's it. A few clear cuts have been hit hard for the bears searching for bugs but I would not say that I've seen "lots" of sign at all and not seen a single bear. This is my first year in this unit so plenty of other guys have way more experience in Kapowsin than I do.
I'll be back at it for the evening hunts as many days as I can muster until the season closes next week.
-
I've spent lots of time in areas that I've found fresh peeled trees, but have seen no bear. Even after the peeled tree bark starts to age, after a few days, and starts to brow up I don't find fresher, newer peels in the same area.
They seem to always be moving on to other areas.
-
Have you guys been in on the 500 road? Think that is what is called. Left side of the road, gated. Not far from the main gate. Used to see a ton of sign in there, and more peeled trees than you can count.
-

If there has been 3 bears taken, then the hunters are not reporting their activity. Hancock only knows of 1 bear that has been killed and reported. There is a separate hunting report that has to be done for Hancock too. When I asked Clyde the security guard about the 3 legged bear he said "oh ya i know that bear, he walks the main line all the time. He was really young, maybe 2 year cub." That's out of his mouth, not mine. Bottom line is, they feed the bears on the north side of the river to cut down tree ripping over there. That's not fair to us hunters on the south side of the river with permits. But whatever, i am going after work at night everyday this week and I will see what i can do.

:yeah:
I heard of 2 bears that weren't reported and are being looked into
-
How do they know bears went unreported? I've been hearing this since the beginning of the hunt. Fishing.
-
bottom line is guys, the kapowsin spring bear tag sucks. It's not that I want more competition for the better tags, but why do you guys apply for that tag? It's no secret the success rate is bad, they keep you out of the best area and you have to buy a pass to hunt it. You have to buy a pass to help them protect their trees and reduce the number of bears, which if they really wanted the bears reduced they would ease up the rules on the spring bear hunt. The fact that they give out 150 tags is a joke, it makes a guy think there is a ton of bears. If you could bait like they do, in the closed areas, then you could make a good hunt out of it. Some guys that spend a bunch of time in the area know where they could find bears, but even they might have a hard time killing bears every year. Sorry to be so negative but, every year we hear about the same thing in there.
-
I only put in for the tag because I knew I was going to get the annual pass. I'm in there a few times a week busting brush and scouting new areas and I haven't seen much sign, however I haven't seen anyone out of their trucks either. The gated escapement areas seem to be great areas to see all species throughout the year but considering they open them for the spring bear permit holders to drive into them I would imagine many animals will move out of the areas or at least away from the roads that are being driven constantly.

Some guys that spend a bunch of time in the area know where they could find bears, but even they might have a hard time killing bears every year. Sorry to be so negative but, every year we hear about the same thing in there.
EXACTLY my thoughts!!! :yeah:

:yeah:
I learned my lesson...never putting in for it again.

I purchased the tag before the I was drawn. I wanted to spend time in the unit and had dreams of getting the elk raffle (yeah, right).
My mentality is different since I was already committed to the Kapowsin lease before I pulled Spring Bear - the more difficult it is, the more I'm interested and the more it draws me in to keep trying. We'll see how I feel in a year.
I was out there last night and ran into a nice guy who was hunting different stands down low with both his kids (son & daughter). He told me, he''s been hitting hard for 12 days straight and not seen a thing. I was in there late last night and finally came across some good fresh sign w/ decent quantity. I had planned on last night being my final hunt but I might head out tomorrow. :IBCOOL:
Bonus last night was watching a beautiful, mature 5x5 elk in full velvet feed across a clear cut. I had a fair amount of regret after leaving my camera in my backpack in the truck - the lighting was amazing and he had no idea I was so close. Bummer but it was still a great looking elk.

Seen this guy yesterday morning on the no hunt them side kind bs that they wont let guys hunt both sides!!
-
This was taken on the bridgegate side too. I think its BS we can't hunt that side where it seems all the bears are. So much for my Spring Bear Permit. Cause I haven't seen nothing on the other side 😫👎🏻
-
Has anyone asked why they don't let you hunt that side? Really makes no sense to me, if they have bear numbers they want taken, why close the area with more bears? Seems incredibly stupid? If it's to protect the elk that are birthing, won't taking bears help them out more? I don't know why they close it, just wondering why?
-
You would thing so!! The elk numbers in hancock are ridiculous anywhere you set a trail cam up you get elk pics I dont understand why they cant pull out acouple more tags.. I have seen more bears on bridgegate side then the kapowisin side during spring and fall. I believe they use to rotate side every year but quick doing it is what I have heard.
-
I'm heading out with a buddy for our final swing tonight. Gotta be there to get lucky. :IBCOOL:

true true good luck shoot straight!!!

So i talked to Randy ( Operations Manager) at Hancock about this as i also drew the tag and was so pissed about this North side/South side stuff... He said they do it to cut down the tree ripping on the north side of the river only. Every bear tears up 12-14 trees per year. He said since they feed them, those numbers are down to 2-3 trees per bear. So the question i posed to him was "Why dont you open both sides then?" His answer... We dont want to.... :bash:. I said look Randy, you want us hunters to help you as a timber company you need to give us fair shake at everything, otherwise dont ask for help. The bears go from south side to the north to feed, they are not stupid animals... His response to that you ask? "We have not seen a significant increase in our bait on the north side of the river. We have not seen more than 5 bears at a time on our cameras at each bait station!" That answer started to piss me off so I left the conversation.....

I went out with a friend Saturday late afternoon for our final crack. We did see the hindquarters of one bear as it disappeared into the thick stuff from about 30 yards away. It was early in our hunt Saturday so I was optimistic we'd see more. We didn't.
Here's the part the really made me lose sleep Saturday night. There was one spot I've wanted to check out but have seen rigs parked there every single day I've been in this unit. Saturday evening we came across a few people at this location. We stopped and asked how it was going.
One of the guys came over and said he had shot a bear @ 9:30am Saturday from 50 yards with his 7mm but could not find it. He had a few friends in looking all day and they were packing up to head home and give it another shot yesterday (Sunday) am. Nice guy - we chatted for a few minutes then headed out. Had I come across him earlier in the day, I would've offered to help.
Here's the part that has caused me to lose sleep and just break any focus. He stated they had seen.... 14 bears that day. WTH??!! 14 bears in a single day??!!! His friend (one of the guys helping him search) had killed one in there on Memorial Day. All I've been able to mutter in a lucid state as I was hiking around Gifford Pinchot NF yesterday was "FOURTEEN Bears in one day??!!".
Apparently they're concentrated in certain area and although I didn't talk to the Operations Manager or logging crew - and assuming they actually saw 14 bears in one day, I'll feel better about checking this location out this fall.
Fourteen. :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash:

14 bears!!!!!? A 1 and a 4? BS!!!!
If you are talking about the area i think you are i have been back there and the road ends about 200 yards down past the gate, if we talking about the same area.

I should've asked if he was a HuntWA member because I just couldn't believe it... but kinda do. At the least they shot 2 bears in there the past few weeks. It's the best report I've heard all season.

If my mom told me she saw 14 bears in the kapowsin in one day I wouldn't believe her. Even in the blues that would be a hard number to reach, imho.

Randy said 12-14 trees per year per bear ? Wow , then I found a small area on the north side that must be holding 5 bear because there was at least 50 trees peeled . There will be a very large area of dead trees next year , guess the feeding isn't working .Like others have said , when they open the north side for spring bear then I will start aplying again . On another note , a freind of mine has had 2 cameras stolen on the north side ,we're in 12-15 miles and off the beaten path , guess it's time to start locking them up .

Bears can damage that many trees a day.

I've had a couple cameras stolen in there too.

I saw 5 (3 of which were a momma and 2 cubs) in 2 days the weekend before Memorial Day weekend. Thought I had them figured out. I came down with the flu over Memorial Day weekend and didn't make it out. Never saw a single bear afterwards.
This was my second time in there for spring bear, the results are similar, a lot of sightings early, then dwindles off to nothing about as quick as it started. I think once they come out they are pretty bold until they figure out there are hunters in them there hills, then they turn into vampires.
My uneducated opinion.

3 legged 2 year old cub? Actually an older Boar and the gentleman that killed it was with a bow. He also helped a friend of his get a bear in the unit and another acquaintance shot a bear in there as well. That's 3 that I've seen pictures of....
I just saw the 3 legged bear on rugged justice! Looks like someone was cheating!
-
Note that Kapowsin is closed 12-23 for Elk Season... lucky Elk hunters who drew the Kapowsin Elk tags get the place to themselves during season. The locks are changed!

I knew that guy was cheating. No way people go smacking bears consistently without bait with a bow up there. I just didn't want to call people out on here

I missed the episode, was this guy ticketed or arrested?
-
Found the episode and replayed it. Nailed big time, Good.
-
Funny I think his buddy was on here bragging about him being bear whisperer blah blah
-
Yes, bear whisperer with a big edge on the game.
So I wonder with 150 permits going out, how many animals were taken legally?
This was the forth year hunting spring bear for me and the first year not at least seeing a bear. Spent quite a bit of time walking grassy roads and calling.
-
Seems odd that someone can kill a bear, then arrow one a few days later when I've only seen one bear ever up there and rode my bike 100+ miles. Whats the trick?
get off the bike and go into the jungle where the bears are, that property is loaded with bears...

Did you not see this bear was taken over bait rasbo?

I was in the areas where bear should be far far from the roads. And there were no signs of recent bear activity. Best sign I found was at the dead end of a very short spur road that is well traveled.
