I figure Monroe has a winner lounge...why not north skagit?! Anyone else from hunt wa hunting the great white north...like the ole saylean?!
-
Woop woop. I'm in
-
Alright! I thought I had the mountains to myself. Good luck!
-
If anyone would like a partner for a day or two let me know. no tag for me this year but did pass on a few and jump a few before I tagged out last yr in there
-
At least a couple of local guys got some tags, good luck and make us proud.

Will do my best to make ole hunt wa proud on this one. I think it's time to break out my bow.
-
I know the area, but does anybody have an old boundary map for the hunt?
-
A buddy and I are in! Should be fun as always.
-
:hello:
I drew N Skagit. First spring bear hunt for me, beyond stoked! Going to be making the drive from sw wa.
-
What's next? Do we get a packet in the mail showing the areas, or do we have to contact the timber companies? :dunno:

You will get something in the mail, usually have to go to Laconner mid April to get gate codes and maps.

I don't have a map but the boundary is basically 9 to baker river and 20 to nooksack river in skagit county and where it is in whatcom, whatcom is the boundary
-
Huh?
-
Nvm, I get ya. I was reading that wrong

Make the most of your trip up. Took me 20 evenings before I found the bear I wanted. It was fun seeing all the wildlife in the area. Lots of critters behind those closed gates.
-
I'm going to be in between jobs about that time, so I am thinking of playing with the timing and taking a coupla-week hiatus... :IBCOOL:
-
Good luck guys! I plan on putting my points back it the hat next year. Way to much going on this year to do anything other then dream about smacking another Skagit bear.
-
I've never had this tag but I would love to ride along with someone. I can help glass, call, pack, skin, whatever. I just love being out in the hills. I have hunted up that way a few times but I'm not sure of the boundaries so I don't know if I've hunted any of it.
-
I hope you guys get out and hunt because not many of these tags get filled ..I think only 3 to 5 bear were killed last year ...Someone gets desperate let me know ...
-
Oh I'll be hitting it hard.
-
Oh I'll be hitting it hard.
Don't you mean to say "burning a lot of gas cruisin around" JK? #roadhunter. I'm just jealous.
-
To quote Vasquez from aliens..."I only need to know one thing....where they are..." (Points finger and shoots)...
 :hunter:
-
I'm halfway through saylean's book and thinking about rolling some 6.5-.284 rounds... I have another trailcam on the way from cabelas. if I strike out it won't be for lack of trying...
-
My cousin, a friend, and another friend and his son drew.

Put forth the time and effort....good things will happen.
-
I got a permit in the mail, but nothing else... :dunno: Does anybody know what's next, or am I just being impatient? Two weeks to season open and I'm pacing....
-
:yeah: I should have waited one for day. I got home and had instructions in the mail today.
-
It's getting close...
-
Should be a good year. Everything is already greening up.
-
Found a day or two old peels yesterday....they are definetly active, but not ever where yet.

Right on
-
Nice work. The cookie crumbled a little differently for me, and I am now trying to start a business while I should be spring bear hunting. I have only go 1 day in so far, but am hoping to get up there Wed-Thurs.
-
For those with tags, check out the 190 road between mile marker 4 and 5, lots of poo, peals, etc. If it was me, I would park at the landing just past mile marker 4 and walk the main road and all the side roads up from there and hit them again back to your rig
-
Chalk another up for North Skagit.
-
Nice! Great coats and dandy bears for the spring hunters this year.
-
Sorry about the double. Here's another.
-
Looks big! What would you guess on size?
-
175-200?. It's an OLD dry sow. Teeth are worn down, only had one of the teeth that you send in left. Gray hairs on her head. 4 inches of fur sure make them look big.
-
Last one
-
Nice job. That is a fine spring bear.
-
That coat looks great. Nice job.
-
Good looking sow. Congrats!
-
Nice bear was she eating grass or pulling stumps apart
-
Very nice jk, congrats.
-
Grass and cambium was probably majority of her diet. Lots of peels around and she was in a grassy spot where I killed her. I didn't cut her stomach open, but it was full...

at the meeting for the Monroe unit last year they asked us to take pictures of the stomach contents to help validate the need for the spring bear hunt. :dunno:
Did they mention it to you guys?

They didn't ask that of the Monroe guys this year (that I can remember at least). I'd probably throw some tree bark into the gut pile :chuckle:. "Yup, its definitely needed!"
-
I didn't hear it.
-
Well, mine was already posted in a separate thread, but I'd feel left out if I didn't put it in with the rest of the skagit killers....
I guess we're up a few points from the Monroe boys! :chuckle:
Just kiddin Monroe boys....go get em.
-
:yeah:
Last time I looked at the Monroe thread, it was 10 pages long and not one dead bear! :dunno: :chuckle:
-
Chalk another up for North Skagit.
Good job ....I heard you got one last night at a little party.. :brew:
-
Good job you 3 ...glad someone knocked off a couple
-
At a party? You're too old to party aren't ya?
-
No more Skagit bears? :dunno:

I got a friend who still hasn't put his tag on one yet. Might get to go with him this weekend.
