I use a Remington Model 7 .243 win.
Thanks for any replies.

I like to shoot 85 grain partitions out of my .243 but i also like to use my Ruger No.1 in .25-06. I load 100 grain ballistic tips for that

I love my Browning A-Bolt synthetic stalker in 25-06, shooting Federal 100 grain Nosler ballistic tips.  I haven't killed a deer with it yet, but my buddy used it to bag a muley doe on his antlerless permit.  Massive blood trail.  Blew out both lungs.

Remmy 700 BDL in .30-06 with Leupold Scope

A little heavy for some people to pack overnight with but I have not found any troubles lugging it around. Remington 700 is just a sturdy rifle. Scope never gets out of wack. Even submerged it in a river and still shot fine after navigating through endless vine maple shortly after that.

Remington 700 7mm w/ Leupold scope and a Pacific Research composite stock.
My son has a 270 w/ Leupold scope, composite stock. Both are great for deer, elk, and black bear.
Back up rifle, Winchester Model 70 (Pre 64) 30-06 w/ Leupold scope

Also, Mathews bow when using archery gear.

Another vote for bow, but if I had to go back to rifle it would be my .250 Savage for blacktails and whities and 30-06 for mulies.  I will have to throw in a nod for the old 30-30 for heavy brush.

what kinda 250 savage do you have? Ive always thought that was a very interesting caliber but have never cared for the 99 (nothing personal if thats what your is) I always thought that something on the lines of a remington model 7 or ruger ultralite would be a dandy deer rifle.

wow sounds like you fellas have some nice guns, i havent been as fortunate to have some of those, ive shot everything from a 303 savage which is pre-historic as my buddies kid me(killed my first buck with it) to what i currently own 30-06 model 760 pump, not a fan of it, but that what has been passed down, ive been lucky enough to kill a few deer, but im fastly becoming a fan of the 25-06.

I use a Steyr Prohunter in .300 Win Mag and reloaded 168gr Barnes TSX.  Topped w/ a Leupold Vari X III 3.5-10 x 50.

Someday I plan on getting a lighter weight rifle for deer..........leaning toward a Browning X-Bolt in 7mm-08.

I don’t have a favorite; I like using different weapons.  I’ve had good luck with these to name a few:

.250 Savage
.243
.30-06
12 gauge
20 gauge
.45 colt
.44 mag
.357 mag
.270
.54 cal

They all work, the only thing that I tried and didn’t like was a bow.  I’m sure that they work too but just not my thing.

When I was a kid, my grandpa had a subscription to Outdoor Life from about 1950 until he died in 1991.  He kept them all in his basement in stacks and I used to read them whenever I was over there.  (Some of you probably already know where this is going...).
As a result, I guess you could say that Jack O'Connor reached back from beyond the grave and sold me my first .270 as soon as I was old enough to earn the money to buy my own rifle (I think I was 15).  That is still the only caliber I use for deer.  I moved back to Washington in 2001, and upgraded my old .270 (a Husquarvana) to a Remington 700 in the same caliber.  I shoot 130 grain Federal Premiums, or some hot 140 grain handloads that a buddy put together for me.  In 8 years I have shot 7 deer with it, 4 mulies and 3 whitetails.  5 of the 7 died where they were standing, the other two ran less than 100 yards.  I try to break both shoulders if I can.  For me out here in Walla Walla wheat country a powerful scope and a bipod are essential.
My 9 year old carries a .243 (got his first buck with it this fall), but actually shoots my rifle better than he does his (just too heavy for him to carry very far).  Our standing deal is that if the animal is past 100 yards, he will use my gun.
A kid that works with me just got into hunting a couple of years ago, borrowed my rifle for a weekend, and went out last year and bought my same setup, but in 30-06.  He was going to buy a .270 but got a deal on the 30-06.  When I was younger I would have gone to blows over the .270/30-06 debate (Kettle Falls High School had two distinct camps on this subject-I think that's the closest we ever got to street gangs-and you were either on one side or the other...).  I have come to believe though that neither one has a clear advantage over the other.
Still love that .270 though.  Planning to take my son to the Jack O'Connor Museum in Lewiston this winter sometime...

Win model 70, 26" heavy barrel in .308. A good all around round and military caliber. If, for any reason the stuff hits the fan, I will always be able to find ammo. I use the High Sierra 168gr. boattail hollowpoint. The same as match ammo used by the military. I have killed 7 of my 8 deer with that rifle. Zeroed at 200 yards for the wheat fields. I can lay down a 4-5" group from a bench at 200 yards. It is almost like shooting a laser beam. A good scope with mil dots and I am hunting with a sniper rifle.....ooooooohhhhh, that's bad............

My fav is my 7mm-08 with 140 grain Nosler Accubond handloads at 3000 fps. A deadly deer pill. I also have a 300wsm that I shoot 150 grain Hornady InterBond handloads at 3200 fps but it is really just overkill for deer. Better for canyon blasting though.

06, 7mm, 300wm, 300Ultra, .243, etc., etc.  What ever I am packing at the time.  For now if I am in the open country it would be the 300Ultra with 180's.  If it is in the brush then a 06 w/150's.  Both Partitions.

Nice thing about the .270, the .308 and the 30-06 is that if you are in the middle of nowhere and realize you forgot your ammo or you didn't bring enough, you can run down to the nearest gas station and pick up a box.  Can't do that with my .300 Weatherby.

I used to shoot a rem 7mm Mag with 175 grain federals but they wasted way too much meat. Now i have been shooting a weatherby chambered in 257wby Mag. It shoots extremely fast and flat and with the factory loaded 120 nosler partitions it only destroys minimal meat. good bonus to the cartridge is that i shoot 87gr bullets for dogs and i only have to carry one rifle. So far it has done a great job on everything i have shot from black bear to big mule deer, dogs and groundhogs. Very well rounded caliber but a little expensive on ammunition.

Been almost 20 years since I've rifle hunted for deer but when I did it was a toss up between my 1st rifle, a Savage model 99c .308 or a Browning A-bolt .280 Rem., both were very sweet shooting guns, wish I still had them.

Had been using a .270, but had to give that back to my grandpa I was borrowing it from. I'm considering using my .243 again this year for Blacktail. If I draw an eastside permit, I will probably shoot some 150 or 180's out of the .300 RUM.

Browning BLR in .308, Remington 700 (built myself) in 7mm-08, and this year gonna carry my .257 A.I., I built on a Howa 1500 action, shooting 120 gr. Nosler Partitions.  So far the 1st two have been deer killers, knocking them flat whatever the range.  I think it is time for the Ackley to get deer blood on it, no matter how pretty it is to look at.

Winchester Model 70 carbine short action 243 with 85 grain Barnes TSX BT. Prior to the Barnes I used 85 grain BT Hornady. Have used the combo on blacktails, mulie's, antelope and my 2 bears, all with very short tracking if any at all.

I shoot a custom my uncle helped me build:

Mauser '98 action barrelled in 30-06, timney trig., synthetic stock, Leuplold scope...etc.etc..  makes pretty cloverleafs at 100yds.

I recently switched to Fed. Premium loads topped with 165g Barnes TSX - one gun, one load for Blacktail, Mulies, and elk.

I have a .257 Wby on my xmas list though!
