Need me a new 'Bamaphone. Whose bought one recently and do you like it?
I currently have an iPhone 5. I have come to loathe Crapple Macintrash but I will give credit where its due: this phone is extremely durable. I mob out without a case and have dropped it on its head more times than my kid and its still ticking. My wife and I have both splashed ours with some liquid and they have survived. My understanding is that the Phablet sized 6+ is more delicate so I am looking at maybe the 6/5s or a similar Android competitor. Durability for drops from my spastic fingers is the #1 factor. please feel free to share your "I dropped it and it survived!" stories :IBCOOL:
Other phone: HTC One (m8), Google Nexus 6, Motorola Droid Turbo, etc ??

Galaxy S5 and Droid turbo are both worth looking at (next month the S6 comes out). I have the Motorola Droid Maxx (latest Version) and I love it, best phone I've ever had! pictures and video are 10x better than my Apple 5s work phone and the battery just keeps on going!
-
I was told that the Galaxy 6 will not have the water resistance that the 5 was built with. :dunno:
-
My wife dropped her iPhone 6 and broke the screen 1 week into ownership. Fortunately her company gave her the wrong phone so she gave that one back and they handled it. I'll get a 6 one of these days. The 6+ is enormous. Not going that route. Battery life on the 6 is pretty awesome. She often goes into the 2nd day before recharging and that's fielding dozens of emails and text messages a day from work.
-
I love my new Note 4. Fast. Decent camera. SD storage. Not an Apple.
-
I have a Galaxy S5. After having nothing but Motorola Android phones for the past 5 plus years. I love this phone. I have dropped it plenty of time but I have to add that I have a Otter box case on it. The great thing about these Samsungs is that you can remove the battery and put in a new one if needed, mini SD card slot to add storage and great battery life. This phone so far has been far better then any Motorola phone I have had.

Watched my wife go through the iPhone thing and never really liked it that much. I've never really cared for the whole proprietary architecture of Apple products so when I went to upgrade, I went to Android and settled on a Galaxy 4. It was cheap and has way more features than I'll ever need and the Galaxy cameras are some of the best on the market. I got the Tech21 case for it and it must work. I've had the phone slide out of my pocket several times and take a header on concrete and never miss a beat. https://www.tech21.com/technology (https://www.tech21.com/technology)

My I-Phone 6 made it through an immersion in the toilet!
I really like it, though I will echo what has been about the 6-plus; it's too damn big!
My buddy has one and jokes all the time about it being his tablet.
-
I'm afraid I can't help ya as I still rock an iPhone4. It's going on 5 years now and has been rock solid.

I second the Droid Maxx. This is one tough phone.

I have the 6+ and an otter case. It's not water proof but has saved it a lot of times already. Kind of big but I have yet to miss place it and I would always loose my other one.

What a bunch wuzzies. I can't believe I am hearing this from men.
Really?
Here is the phone I carry.
Carried it 20 plus years. My 3rd one. This is a mans phone, made to drop. :chuckle: :lol4: :mgun: :boxin:

Me too. Well, I'm rocking a 4s. It's been bombproof. In the 4 years I've had it, it's been dropped a few dozen times. Once into the toilet, left it in the front yard for 2 days in December, takes a licking, keeps on ticking.
:dunno:

As long as I only watch elk kills and check google earth with it it makes me more of a man!

I third the Droid Maxx. I go 3-4 days without having to charge it.

<---- loves the HTC phones. It's reminds me of a cross between the Galaxy phones and the Droids. Ive had both and prefer the HTC One the best.

Phew. I have the 4s too and like it overall. My only complaint is that when it gets cold the stupid thing just shuts off. Other than that I like it and its not too big. I don't want to carry around a tablet in my dang pocket. :yike:

I just checked this thread because the title said newd. 8)

Went from apple products to a Note 4. Had otter box cases on all the apples never broke a screen not to many complaints other then the crap camera and extremely slow operation.
Currently have a otter box outer case with a guaranteed glass (or whatever its called) screen protector on the note 4, dropped it several times from various distances on to concrete and tile floors no issues. After getting used to the Android operating system I doubt I'll ever go back to Apple.
I used to think the same thing about a the "Phablet" To BIG!!! But after having one I'll never switch back, every time someone tries to show me something on there smaller phone I think to myself how did I stand that!!! Couple points to keep in mind about me though is I essentially work a desk job during the week but on the weekends I work on everything from Road graders to cars during that time I usually keep it off of my person because it is large. I'm also a large guy 6'3" and a weight I don't want to mention :chuckle: so the note 4 does fit in my pants pockets and hand just fine but its not for everyone.
just my :twocents:

Good lord, how many Busch Lite's were to blame for this? :chuckle:

I like my 6+ but it fits me 6.4 300+ also like onyx maps on it. I pretty much run my business from my phone.
-
Wow, I'm surprised how many have dropped their phones in the toilet! I've been concerned about that but is far I haven't been so unfortunate. Especially concerned that I would drop it in there after having used the toilet. :yike:
As for the durability of my iPhone 4, it's not been so good. It fell out of my shirt pocket while I was kneeling down pulling weeds. Couldn't have been a drop of more than 18 inches. The front screen shattered. Got it fixed for about $80. Couple weeks later it got dropped on a driveway as I was getting out of a car. Cracked the screen but not as bad as the first time. Not long thereafter I traded my broken phone for my wife's phone when she upgraded. This one seems to be more durable than the first one for some reason. I have dropped it many times, and it's only got a small crack on the front, and a small crack on the rear, neither of which affects the usability of the phone.
The worst thing about this phone is the battery life. It won't go half a day without needing to be plugged in.
-
my 6+ dies in like an hour. I might need an update.
-
I have the Kyocera DURA-Force, it's a military spec smart phone. It is shock and drop protected has the Gorilla glass screen, and is water resistant up to 30 minuets in up to six feet of water. Has its' own built in case and runs on the Android platform.

Let's just say that there was no Busch Lites to blame for it. That's not to say there wasn't beer to blame for it...it's just to say that there would never, ever be any Busch Lite to blame for anything in my life.

I am a heavy user and I get a day out of mine.

I'm cheap and drink Bud Light. Have some standards....
-
I love my note 3. No major drops yet but it does everything I need it to do and more. I am glad I got it. I have a case on and a tempered glass screen protector. The case is bothering me more then the phone.
-
Who has the HTC One M8? its last years model but my cheap ass can get it free, which is better than $200-400+ between my wife and I.
-
Galaxy phones are good phones, but drop them with out a good otter box case and the screens crap super easy as I have broke around four that way. :bash:
-
Thanks. For some reason I've largely overlooked the Galaxy's. I have a Samsung tablet that is good but its in a thick Otterbox and hasn't been tested with a serious drop yet. Seems as though the HTC One M8 does ok to good in drop tests... possibly better than the iPhone. In fact there's a hajj who submerged his HTC in water for some time and didn't even bother with the whole shut it off and seal it in a bag of rice trick and it seemed to work fine :o This kind of stuff along with data connection seem to be far better than measurbating statistics.

I am not an accident prone person but i have a problem with phones apparently i have an iphone 5c and have broken 2 screens and 2 life proof cases and am waiting for my third screen and third life proof case.I have no idea about this durability you speak of. but i do love the phone when its working :chuckle:
-
The 5c has a plastic chasis which may affect its durability as opposed to the metal found in my 5 or the 5s. But in any case with my new account I'll be eligible for an upgrade every 10 months so living with a cracked screen won't be the end of the world.. for too long. :chuckle:
-
Going to go with the HTC One M8
My wife took to the streets to celebrate :IBCOOL:

I was thinking that too about the plastic chassis but that's the one part that has not broken and the fact that all the breakage has happened inside of the NOT so life proof cases  :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

Wow and I'm an advocate of going condomless. All of the drops I speak of with my iPhone were without any case whatsoever.
-
HTC in my opinion has some of the best hardware out there. Not as much advertising dollars as the Samsung but they are great. I am still using the original HTC ONE and have had no issues. They are more sturdy in my opinion than the Samsung products which use a lot of plastics (until recently with the S6 and S6 Edge). Put a case on the phone and youre in good shape, which really can be said for most devices. The case will help your corner and sides from getting damaged which is where most damage happens. Ive launched mine a few times on the floor/ground with no issues.
Look at the warranty program HTC just launched and it might help you make a decision  . Its called “uh-oh”.
My wife and I are both in the wireless industry (not in sales) and put our hands on a lot of devices. I have gone with the HTC for many years now over any other device and have had no issues with durability. Everybody has their opinions and experiences though, so take it for what it is :).

Another vote for the Droid Maxx. Get a cheap $4 case off of the interweb and it is a great phone. Battery life is great and it seems to hold up well. My Droid razr maxx is over two years old and still works. Just got new one because of upgrade available.
