I read the regs and there is a dog training season with the exception of a few locations that are open year round and then below that it states
"Training dogs on western Washington pheasant release sites is only open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Only youth and seniors may train dogs during their respective seasons on designated western Washington pheasant release sites"
So does that mean that only youth and seniors can train dogs on pheasant release sites or is it stating that you can not train your dog during the youth or senior seasons at the release site?.

You cannot train during the youth hunt or senior hunt unless you are one. You are welcome to run your dog after 4pm, but no shooting of the blank pistol.

Actually Forks is not quite 100%right.Training is only allowed from 8 am to 4 pm,when a season is on,what that means is when the season starts you'll be required to run around with the masses, you also have to have a licsense to chase the pen raised pheasants,so you may as well pack a shotgun so if the dog does it right you can kill a bird for him.You may not train after 4pm when the season is on,that is when they plant birds, chasing the birds around prior to the next mornings hunt is not allowed. It's written about as clear as mud,you can take it that after 4 is good to go and then argue about english literature and comprehension in court with your ticket.I was a close enough aquaintance with the former game area manager and got set straight on the rules concerning dog training. He was a pretty good guy and dog training freindly,he always turned birds loose around the compound area at Lake Terrell on or about the middle of August for training. When a youth/senior season is on(which neither are very long and you'll be at work anyway) you'll need to find a gunner under 17 or older than 65.Youth season is two days(saturday/sunday) and senior is monday-friday and the following saturday is world war 3.Finding a youth is easy, call the game headquarters and see if there is a kid who is dogless or fatherless who is wanting to hunt, there was a program up here for a few years that matched up kids with dog owners to hunt with on a mentoring program. The new game area manager doesn't turn birds loose before the season for training.

Can't wait to see what happens Happy. I live on the East side and the nearest designated dog training area is about 2 hours away. I was accused of poaching today while running my dogs on pen raised chukar on public land.
