Pretty new to turkey hunting. Still waiting to bag my first bird. Hunted last spring near Cheney. Saw several toms but did not get a shot off. Looking for some prospects closer to home (Everett). Noticed a few turkey near the Chumstick Hwy between Leavenworth and Plain this past winter. Can anyone tell me if there are many turkey in this area? Not against knocking on doors but any public land areas in this region that would be good to check out? Thanks in advance for any advice :)

Not to many. The ones that are around are usually on private where most people feed them.

Thanks for the reply. The ones I had seen where on private land so make sense.

Lots of turkeys around Cle Elum but also lots of hunters. It isn't much farther than leavenworth and you are more likely to stumble upon a tom.

Agree with mostly on private land. There's turkeys that live in an old abandoned truck in that area on private land. :chuckle:
