Just bought one in 300 WM a few weeks ago. Picking it up from the gunsmith after putting an enormous brake on it. Trigger job to be done next. Then to start the load development process.:tup:

hey everyone, saw that cabelas has this rifle on sale in a .300 ultra mag and was interested to see if anyone has any reviews on this rifle.. thank you in advance

I can't speak to the 'long range' version, but I do have plenty of experience with a Remington M700, LSS (laminated stock in SS) in 300 RUM.
As opposed to how it came, it now is professionally bedded, wears a Jewell trigger, stands on a Limbsaver butt pad, has Talley steel bases and rings and sports a Zeiss 4.5 x 14 x 44mm scope which truly compliments it's long range capabilities. It is truly up to 'long range' duties and has proven it over and over these last many years.
I'm a bit older these days and less one useful hand, but it remains my long range, 'special/quality hunt rifle' if drawn and/or when the terrain I plan to hunt calls for it. It will serve you well in your 'long range' rifle/cartridge quest given that we embrace that human limitations almost always surface far sooner than do mechanical limitations.
You've chosen a very viable long range cartridge, one which has never not benefitted from a premium butt pad......... ;).

My last 5 shot group was .362" I am shooting 225 Hornady with 89Gr. of H1000 I have the trigger set to 2.5 pounds. I have Leupold Boone and Crockett scope on it. Bought it from a guy getting a divorce. $600!
