Title: OIL points
Post by: TMortensen on April 23, 2015, 04:33:38 PM: What is the max amount of points anyone has for Oil tags...Im sitting at 16pt ea, curious what the completion is like out there.

Post by: bobcat on April 23, 2015, 04:43:57 PM: I missed a moose point sometime, so I'm at 19 for moose this year. Don't put in for goats, never have, odds are too low. And im out of the sheep draw since I drew last year with 16 points.

Look at your draw results from last year.

It is possible to get 10 points for turning in a poacher.

You can get points for turning in a poacher but they won't go to OIL animals.

I didn't try to figure the odds with the multiple pulls, your choices, odd of getting pulled while your choice remains, ect... But it's less than 1% unless you have lots of points and then its like 1 to 4% or somewhere in there. Most folks won't draw in their lives.
Most years it seems the raffle tickets are much better odds.

Many of the applicants have 10-15 points, so most of the tags are pulled by folks in that point range. I'm sure that phenomenon will creep right along with that applicant pool.

Idaho seems the best draw odds for them critters, by far.

Actually it would be 100 times better chance of drawing with 10 points versus only 1, since 10 squared = 100 and 1 squared = 1.

I didn't realize it was squared. You learn something new every day, and every once in a while it's something useful!

12 isn't a bad place to be. No matter what keep in the game and you never know when your lucky number will appear.
I drew my goat permit in 99 with 3 points which was max at the time.
2 permits for 2600 people.

I was lucky and that's what it comes down to. :tup:
