Will the unclaimed multi season tags go OTC after August 1st?? Looks like for 2016 that will be the case. What about this year??

Yes they will in 2015.
-
 I bet the wdfw site/server will be down for a bit.
-
I'll be all over the that @ 12:01 am on the 1st!!
-
A primary advantage of multi-season permits is the opportunity to apply for special permits in multiple areas and hunting methods. For example, a Western archery elk hunter could apply for muzzleloader permits in Eastern Washington. By not having the multi-season permit during the April – May application period, that advantage and thus a significant value of the permit is lost. I would pay $180 for an elk multi-season permit in April, but not in August.
-
I doubt if there will be many multi-season elk tags unsold. It usually takes several years to draw one. But of course there will be a few, some people might not have the money, or they miss the deadline, especially this year since some may not be aware the deadline was moved up by a month. It will be interesting to see what happens.
Now I assume if you purchase an unsold tag you don't lose points?

That's an interesting question. I assume you would lose the points.
-
I wonder what the time limit is? If Deer tags are available until after seasons end, a guy could just wait and see if he tags out or not, then buy one later.
:dunno:
-
The state should auction the elk multi seasons left over Id pay 800 for a multiseason elk tag if I could get one ever yr state could make some serious coin cause most people I know would do the same

no way in hell i wouod pay 800 for a multiseason elk tag! I would go to idaho and hunt elk and deer for just over that price. Crazy to pay 800 on top of 100+ app fees!
-
For me I don't have time to go to Idaho but I would pay a lot to get to hunt black powder in addition to archery. It's so hard to choose archery or black powder. Archery is way more of a challenge but frustrating as hell cause it's so hard to get a shot. Black powder is awesome cause one can blast through the trees. But the season is so short. Being a west side guy it takes me about an hour to where I hunt. Anywhere there are elk there can be big Bulls

Please post a link to this info. Thank you. I'll buy one.

It's in the regs on the multi-season permit page. In color to indicate the change.

I would guess that you would not lose your points for purchasing a surplus tag. Whoever didn't buy it should still lose theirs. I don't see any reason you should forfeit your points for buying a leftover tag. :twocents:
-
Agreed

If you mean page 8, that is talking about 2016, I have not yet found anything concerning this years tags.
-
:yeah:
That's what caused my initial confusion, 2015 wasn't mentioned anywhere that I could find.
-
Page 8 I wonder if the 2016 is a typo

I talked to WDFW on Thursday, they said September 1st and the remaining permits would only be available to the ones that applied for the permits.

Your correct, no mention in last years apps. I read it somewhere......

I don't see why you would lose them since you didn't draw the tag.

I don't follow this stuff too closely, but why the heck would there be leftovers if people who applied weren't drawn? Now they are offering the "leftovers" to those who applied? WTF?
Is it because individuals who drew the tag aren't purchasing them and there's a cutoff date to purchase?
-
Yes that's exactly why, Miles. Some people don't pay attention and realize it's $140 or whatever it is. Some people wait to see if they draw a special permit before buying, some people forget, etc.
-
Let's not bring anymore attention to this. I am hoping to buy one of the leftovers. :chuckle:

:yeah: for deer also.

I would still buy the multi-season elk tag if it were after the application period for special permits. My primary reason for wanting that tag is so that I don't have to decide between the archery and the muzzleloader seasons, but can hunt both. Having the option of applying for east side permits is far from a guarantee that you will draw one anyway. So I certainly would not pay $180 if my only reason for doing was so I could apply for east side permits.

I don't give two rips about permits :twocents: I'm guessing that there will be at least 1 person, for whatever reason, doesn't buy their multi season elk tag, and I'll be there to scoop it up :chuckle:
Got a baby due oct 9th, so I want the option to hunt modern if he decides to come early and ruin my archery season :chuckle:
-
I probably won't buy my multi-deer. Just got accepted into a masters program and won't have time to take advantage.
-

That guy will be so upset that his plan to "Stick It To The Man" was just a waste of money :tung:
-
There will probably be tags that the bunny huggers don't buy also.
I hope I can pick up a deer tag. I love hunting as much as possible, and they finally have a late archery season in 448.
-
Someone can have my multi-season deer tag- I think I'm going to pass on it since I decided to buy a timber company access pass. The money I say will cover half the cost of the access pass.
-
My deer ms tag will be available too. Takinflg that money out of state
-
My deer tag will be available also, but will try for an elk tag if there are any to buy!
-
I was fortunate to draw this year and already paid. I think it should be cost up front for multi, refund if you don't get drawn, that would weed out a lot of guys that aren't even serious about it in the first place. It would seriously screw up my deer plans if I didn't have multi, too many guys apply and then don't utilize it. I do like that they are letting people buy the extra tags though...
-
I'm not getting the deer one I was drawn for, so there is one. Last year I got the elk and didn't buy it because I got my quality draw and didn't need it. Tried to give it back last year and they could do nothing about it. Actually a good move on wdfw's part.
-
Yes that's exactly why, Miles. Some people don't pay attention and realize it's $140 or whatever it is. Some people wait to see if they draw a special permit before buying, some people forget, etc.
You have to choose your weapon of choice for your tag to even apply for a permit. In order to put in for muzzle and other tags you have to have purchased your multi tag.
-
No you don't. Draw the multi, buy rifle tag, put in for draws. If you don't draw anything good in any states (they all have results before August) then go and turn your rifle tag in and buy the Multi.
I actually like the setup. Let's you wait to drop the money till all the draw results are out, or you can pony up and put in for multiple weapon draw choices if you want.
Same with second deer tags. You can wait a bit till the draw results are out before you decide to purchase.
-
Hopefully they continue to copy Colorado and apply this to all draw tags.
-
So what is the final outcome on this? Will the leftover unpurchased multi season tags go up for sale August 1 this year or is this starting in '16?
-
Since I haven't seen any announcements about it, I'm thinking not until next year. :dunno:
-
My father talked to the WDFW today and it looks like they've changed their mind. Apparently all of the applicants who put in for multi-season tags but were not selected will be put into another drawing to determine who receives the un-purchased multi season tags from the original drawing. They're supposed to notify people of the new drawing by e-mail. Bot sure exactly when though. Good luck.
-
I'll be all over the that @ 12:01 am on the 1st!!
Won't be the 1st, and there are 3,856 multi deer tags sold.
-
Mines up for grabs since I got my mulie rut tag 😄
-
Let's not bring anymore attention to this. I am hoping to buy one of the leftovers. :chuckle:
:yeah:Why would anyone bring this topic up? To assure competition???? Nuke this thread please!! 8)
-
Same reason they have to remind people to get there permits in or buy raffle permits. If ur to slow tough $&@& 😄

Nuke the thread?? Why? I just wanted to get the scoop on what would happen to the leftovers. Don't get so bent outta shape trophy.
I think another draw for the unclaimed tags would be cool.

I'm not mad about this thread, I hope you get the tag you want. I just don't like to remind people about tough draws if I'm looking to draw the tag myself. PM's are nice and quiet. :chuckle:

I purchased my multi season deer. I'm more excited about hunting the rut in a firearms restricted area now with my bow.
-
$180 for Elk-yes. $180 for deer- hell no, i barely need 3 days. Would be nice if your headed for a boone and crocket or pope and young buck. For $95.50 you can buy deer, bear, elk, cougar and still have $84.50 left over for gas, ammo, etc. $180 too much for a deer in my opinion.

Deer isn't $180.

Oh, i thought it was $180 for the multi season tag?? :dunno: Even if its $120-$140 still too much $. Some of us don't need multiple seasons to get a deer down, so i can't justify paying an outrageous price for that tag. Ive hunted deer for 20 years in Washington, and have gotten all 20 deer tags filled. Deer are not hard to hunt, but they sure are a blast and good eating to boot.

I don't look at it as needing that long to get one. I look at it as getting to be more selective and also I get to enjoy hunting with all of the weapon choices. I enjoy bow hunting, muzzleloader hunting and rifle hunting. I hate having to choose just one. I like having a three month season instead of a three week season.
-
I would have tried to buy a leftover multi deer tag if I wouldn't have drawn a late deer tag. And I wouldn't have bought it to improve my chances of killing a deer. I like hunting way more than I actually like killing. And the multi deer tag would have let me hunt a lot more.

Do these need to be purchased before 8/1? I drew this for the first time so I've yet to read up on purchase requirements.

Yes, July 31st is the last day to purchase multi-season permits.

Yikes - Thanks! I wasn't tracking... :bash:

Yep, get on it. You lose your points either way.
I can hunt at least one of my units all but i think 25 days between Sept 1st and Dec 31st.

So with all the different reports people are giving I wanted to let people know that I talked with WDFW this morning and multi season permits will not be on sale August 1st. They are going to let everyone know when it will be through a mass email after they figure out how many permits are left. She told me to make sure I have my email account updated on my WDFW information so make sure it's updated

-
For those who have procrastinated like me, don't forget to take in your regular deer tag when purchasing multi tag.
-
Hey trophy...if people have questions why do you care if someone who actually knows helps :dunno:? There going to find out anyways, and only guys who bought and submitted the application for the permit can buy them over the counter that's another thing she said.

trust me I know, I'm not butt hurt for you wanting to help. I just don't know why guys like to advertise something like this where there will be less than, well, very few elk permits. I love helping out but when the competition is this tough, I'd rather just let the date come and go, hopefully giving me a slightly better chance. No biggie, I hope you get your tag.
-
So if they do another draw for people to get the multi season will they take your points? I don't think you should have to use them because you are losing out on the opportunity to apply for special permits. It should just be like a over the counter tag at that point.
-
Well if it helps man I'm not going after the elk multi haha! Just deer for me. I really would like to be able to apply for the White River west side archery permit but I hunt the 249 for elk. Trophy were you drawn for White River? I thought I saw you were, I have a bad ass spot up around 5600 ft it's only 2 miles in I've seen nice Bulls this year Id like to show someone who has the permit

my wife drew one of the rifle rut tags!! Good for sept 28th to October 2nd in the white, should be a blast! I have a camera out and plan on one more at least. Been out scouting a few times but only cows and calves so far, few little bulls on the camera. I know the unit pretty well but if you want to talk, I'll listen!!! PM me if you want, thanks for the offer!
-
My multi season deer tag will be going back in the pool too. Hope somebody can do it justice.
-
Just got a notice in the mail today from the WDFW letting me know that I need to purchase my multi-season deer tag by July 31st. Seems like a waste of money for them to send out those post cards. Doesn't everybody already know when the deadline is?
-

:yeah: good point
-
Ya man if they take my points it will really piss me off but from what the wdfw told me, they won't be.
-
Wish I could give mine back! bought it before the special permits were due and ended up drawing a late tag. Waste of money this year for sure :bash:
-
Doesn't everybody already know when the deadline is?
Good joke. :chuckle:
-
Just got off the phone with WDFW. Here is what he told me. When the get back to work on Monday they are going to assess what tags are left over then they will notify those that have applied and did not get drawn on how and where to go to buy them on a first come first serve bases. So he figures buy the end of next week they will have something out to all of those that weren't drawn. So don't go looking for them on sale tonight at 12:01
-
I just tryed to buy mine on line and could not find it. I drew the permit?? Whats up?? Gave me other crap to buy
-

Did you buy a general tag? Think you have to take it in to a vendor, return the actual tag, then the vendor does something in their computer with WDFW which allows multiseason to show.

12:06, and nothing to report
:chuckle:
-
12:12 just purchased my multi season elk!!!!
-
Did you not draw one originally? How did you buy one?
-
:sry: couldn't resist. I didnt buy one just trying to rile aome folks up
-
Anybody check the backdoor yet :dunno:
-
I'm actually probably going to kick myself and never buy one again if i get a nice buck in early archery season. I have a pair of blacktails that will probably disappear 2 weeks before the season but both are shooters if they stick around.
-
Lol gee-unit my heart jumped when I saw that 12:12 post
-
:sry: couldn't resist. I didnt buy one just trying to rile aome folks up
Best watch out, Lord of the Rings folks take this sh** serious!! It will rain fire if you get the Armies of Middle Earth riled up :chuckle:

Just spoke with the WSDFW main office. I was told the deadline to purchase the Multi Season permit has been extended for those who were drawn. The woman said there is no deadline set, as to when those people will be cut off from purchasing their permits. She expected the extension to last until the end of this week. She went on to say that when they open it up for purchase, while supplies last; there is a strong chance that only those that applied will have an opportunity to purchase a Multi Season permit. Check online this Friday is what I was told.
-
I tried to buy at midnight Friday, no dice. Wife went to the store at 7am Saturday morning and was told the deadline had been extended and to call WDFW.
What the heck?! They sent me an email saying that they would be available for purchase on August 1st, couldn't they send me another one saying they extended the deadline?
-
What a bunch of BS. Everyone already had plenty of time to make a decision, well do I want this permit or no, Hmm? Bunch of turkeys.
-
I tried to purchase online Fri night and couldnt. Called wdfw and somebody answered the phone and took my info down for a return call monday. I work construction and missed the call. Somehow they called my dad and he purchased my multi tag and they offered him a multi tag. Lady said my multi tag is on the way and I have to return my modern tag to a dealer before I receive my multi tag since it's illegal to posses 2 tags. Gal I talked to Fri night said tags won't go on sale to unsuccessful drawers until possibly this Fri or later as they sort this out.
-
You guys can have mine, I decided I didn't want it :)
-
Just wanted to get all three of these threads alive and well.
See you guys on the 10th, we should have a Huntwa BBQ in the Fred Meyer parking lot.
-
I feel like they won't sell all 3,300 surplus Mult-season deer permits unless they open it up for all. I did not apply this year but would buy one if given the chance. Hopefully they open it up to everyone after a few days. Elk will sell out in about 2 minutes though. Good luck gentlemen. I'd pitch a tent outside your local sporting goods store on sunday night!
-
Not sure how I am going to play this one. Now that permits have been drawn I don't want the MS elk but I do still want to get the MS deer for my daughter. I am sure the lines are going to be long with guys trying to get the elk permits. Would be nice if there were two lines one for elk and one for deer.
Probably just going to have to wait in line and buy one of the 2900 deer tags still left by the time I get my shot at them. If I knew for sure there would still be deer tags on the 11th I would just wait for the elk chaos to die down and then go get the deer permit.
-
I am eligible to buy either tag but I've pretty much already have my hunts planned so I am out. I think same thing for my brother. Good luck everyone.

:yeah:
honestly barring some system crash I am betting the elk will be gone by 1pm. WDFW dealers are at every wallmart, and big sport store, have to be a few hundred of them in the state. I might head to my local one @ lunch but not holding my breath at all, just grab a deer if the line is not bad.
-
12:05 p.m. at the latest :twocents:
I will be in line
-
12:05 p.m. at the latest :twocents:
That is what I am thinking to and why I am not going to bother, I cannot get to a location before 12:15 and it is a popular store so there WILL be a line. Heck I think they still get lines to 22lr ammo deliveries each week...
-
All this talk about multi-season tags and this deal is probably better :twocents:

-
Who is already standing in line? :chuckle:
-
I'm first in line at redondo Fred Meyer!!!!
-
First in line in maple valley :IBCOOL:
Sweet talking the woman to get her A game ready come 11:55. Lol
-
Im sitting at work... Wishing I could go try to grab a multiseason elk tag.
I havent decided on the deer yet. Im just still not sure. I probably won't, and will just do modern again, but it sure would be nice to have the option to take one earlier with a bow...I dont think the deer tags will sell out though. Not today at least...
-

yeah my fear is they don't work quick enough, they didn't know what was going on here.
-
Yes, between that and all the hundreds of dealers its gunna be luck to get your hands on an elk tag
-
Wife says elk are gone, waiting on deer.
-
That was quick, as expected..
Waiting on deer?
-
Yep, she said the first guy in line had all of his info entered and the gal hit send right at noon and he got his, by the time she entered the next guys info all the elk permits were gone.
-
She was able to get a deer permit for my daughter.
-
Was first in line at sumner Fred Myers and got both tags! Poor lady at the counter seemed stressed out lol
-
Clerk counted down to 1200 with me and sent the info. Got one of the 180!
-
Felt bad for the first guy in line...had all his info in...clerk said multi elk was available for him...printed his stuff out and realized he hit the multi deer instead of elk! Went back in system and they were gone...felt sorry for the guy
Sent from my LG-E980 using Tapatalk
-
I got mine. She was fast. By the time the second guy gave his info at 12:01 they were gone
That sucks for that guy.... I would be pretty bummed
-
The girl at our counter was very good and fast, me and the only other guy in line got our tags in about 45 seconds. She didn't bother to cash out until she got both of us done. He waited for his deer just in case someone else walked up for an elk. The tags went quicker than I thought, about one minute and done. I waited in line for an hour and a half, the other guy showed up at 11:45 or so.
-
The state is making a lot of money today.
-
I guess my buddy really owes me. The store I was at started handing out numbers at 11:30. I had 1 and he had 3. He wanted elk and I wanted deer so I traded him. He got his elk a guy 30 seconds behind on the other computer didn't.
I would bet the deer tags sold out as well? The store owner told me he thought there were about 1200 places that sell licenses in the state. So that would be less than 3 tags per dealer. The place I was at sold at least 10 in the time I was in there....
good for you on swapping places! That makes total sense to let the elk tag go first, I'd say he owes you a pitcher of beer!!
-
Are deer still available?
-
was first in line for deer and had to go home to get my deer tag but still got one. mike w
-
I dont know about deer still. I cant remember exaclty but i think there were 9500 deer available and only 10,000 applicants. And only people who applied for it can buy the leftovers right? That would be really strange to me, if 3300 people didnt buy it until it was too late, just to buy it when they came up for resale. Or am I wrong and its open to everyone to buy, original applicant or not?
-

Got my multi season deer. Elk I did not care and was told they sold out quick. No biggie..

IMHO
This whole thing with not purchased multi season permits is BS.
My brother-in-law and I both applied for the multi season deer. I drew and he did not.
I purchased my multi season tag at the same time I purchased my applications.
My brother-in-law would have also purchased his at the same time, if drawn.
They should have had a second drawing with the applicants from the unsuccessful pool before putting these up for grabs.

Was not free for all up for grabs. Only available to people like your brother and myself, that paid the app fee and put in for the draw originally...

You should have like a week to buy, and if you don't then redraw that way the guys that buy them can still put in for different permits. Would make it more worth it, but I did buy mine anyways at noon...

multiseason deer still available at counter. I still haven't decided to buy it, but I asked when I picked up my fishing license the other day if it was still available. With this new system, does anybody lnow what the new cutoff is to buy the tag? It used to be last day of August right?
-
I asked 2 different stores yesterday, and they both said sold out (did not look at the screen, just told me)

Not uncommon for counter folks to be clueless, they were probably going off what they heard for Elk being all gone.. Have someone enter your information and check.
Just an FYI they are only available to those that applied for them originally...

Yes, I applied for both.
I'll just go back and say I want my deer tag, and look it up

Surprise, Surprise, Surprise!
Son and I both bought our MS deer tags today. From the store the guy told me they were sold out. (different sales person)
I just said I wanted to get my deer tag, then asked if the multi was there.

Got my multi season tag today thanks to this thread. Didn't realize I could still get one. Thanks!
-
anyone know if there are still MS deer tags available?
-
Got to go to the store and ask to buy a tag.
Bring your general tag with you if you got one (you have to turn it in)
