You know I just don't get it.
My wife got me a big green cooler from Walmart. Several years ago.
Paid I think 89.00.

I put four blocks of ice in it and that ice will keep it cold for two weeks.
Sure the lid sprung a bit along the way.

But if I replace it every five years it still will be less costly than a yeti.

How many need to keep stuff cold for over two weeks?

I can personally attest to the fact that a $50-$100 cooler is no where near as good as a yeti. They don't even come close. Wish I could afford one... :chuckle:

Costco has the pelican brand for like $300 which is much more doable than $500. Pretty sure I will have to buy 3-4 or more of the $100 ones in my life if I went that direction since I have a broken one in the shop now.. In the long run it is a better buy in my mind..

I have an igloo that I bought in 1999. Every 10 years or so it gets new hinges. I think there is a market for people that truly need ice to stay 2 weeks. Personally, I just buy another bag every 3 days for $2.

They had a Yeti, and filled it up with ice in Florida, and still had over half the amount of ice when they arrived in BC. That pretty much had me sold on the yeti's claims of holding ice.

A 5 gallon bucket for comparison.

I went with a Grizzly due to the molded in handles rather than a rope that Yeti has, and the beefy stainless steel drain plug. As far as theft, it'll be heavily locked down in a trailer. If you happen to get through the trailer lock, braided cable and padlocks, the cooler empty weighs almost 100lbs. So have fun taking it full of ice and meat ;)

I can't attest to the durability of either but I've only ever owned two coolers both coleman one is meant for day use I've had it 15 years and there is not a thing wrong with it. Bought the xtreme last year for camping it too is doing just fine. Both cost less than $70.

My hunting partner has that last big one and it keeps his ice the whole time in Idaho on our elk hunt, the pain in the but is how damn heavy it is when full. It takes two grown men to lift it, but it would make it difficult to steal for just one guy. I was impressed how long the cheaper extreme held ice, just about as long as the yeti did.
