Looking at the Big Game Regs. and it appears that all of the Alpine Lakes Wilderness is available for the High Hunt (even the addition). No campfires above 4000 feet.

The way I read the regs the alpine lakes GMU is 249. under the description 249 is east of the pacific crest trail meaning the new areas are not a part of the high hunt in september. Not saying I'm right, I usually have to read it a few times to completely understand.

High hunt has nothing to do with gmu boundaries. It's all about wilderness boundaries.

High Buck Hunt is in the Wilderness areas. Not the GMU boundaries.

Yes.

So basically new black tail high hunt opportunities? Cool for some. I'm not a fan of more wilderness at all, in fact, I'm completely anti but I guess this is a silver lining for a few people. I wonder how the hunting is in the area, bucks might be used to hanging out there during the high hunt season not expecting the traffic. Could be interesting.

I stand corrected. Good to know thanks.

That will be cool

I wonder where the permit only parking area will be, most likely that same guy, stands like 7 foot, glasses,a old john deer hat ,and doesn't say much he just points, tells you when, where and how and how much time you got .You guys better not look so happy and excited or fish and feathers will bring the wrath of regulations down on you includeing the slack jawed yokel collecting parking fees and handing out the flyer for next years limited high hunt raffle and permit fees dockets. This could really be something special, lets just not talk about it !!,,,,, TO LATE ! ? :bash:
