C'mon results!! I have 20 points in quality and bull categories, switching up this year a bit. Ghost point my quality and putting in for my bull for a good muzzy hunt on the west side, years past it's all been about the east muzzy quality. Switching gears to see if my luck can change! All OIL categories are in, moose, sheep and goat. No ghost pointing those hunts, all those I have 17 points. And finally quality deer with 11 points for one of those east side mule deer tags, ghost the buck tag. Another year of waiting for the results, Best of luck to all you guys with years of waiting for a special hunt!!

Good luck! It's crazy with 20 points it's still a crap shoot. Not enough choices on the Westside (I know it's a product of the system). You never know, that's the good part, you might be scouting goat and elk this summer.
-
Just tell yourself that you're going to draw and you will...just ask Bobcat because it worked for him last year. With that being said, I am going to draw one of my WA OIL tags and my ID moose tag! ;)
Good luck to everyone in the upcoming draw. To those who are successful at drawing the primo tags, remember to make some great memories with family and friends.

Scouting for goat and elk sound really good! And its definitely is a crap shoot! Cem, your odds may be pretty good for that Idaho moose draw, Idaho is your best bet for Moose! Good luck.

If you really want to draw a sheep tag, apply for 15 years, and then skip two years, because you know the odds are too low and it's a waste of money. The third year, change your mind and decide you're not getting any younger and if you don't draw a Washington sheep tag you'll never hunt sheep in your lifetime. Wait until the day before the deadline before submitting your application, that way it's on the top of the pile when they reach in to draw a name out.
That's what worked for me last year. Drew my third choice with 16 points.
So far this year all I've got in are my moose applications. I don't apply for mountain goat, never have. And of course, I'm now unable to apply for bighorn sheep. For elk I'm going points only, so I can switch my tag in late August when I decide which season I want to hunt.
For deer I'm going to put in for one of the new late rifle blacktail hunts.

I've tried that ''top of the pile'' trick for many years!!! :chuckle: This year I completely changed the way and when I apply! Must have been a shock to see Successful on your sheep tag, what a feeling that would be. Most guys will never get to hunt that animal, congrats and good luck on the moose.

Good luck ..but I just told my buddy who has over 20 pts , him and his dad both , that if they do not draw a tag of some kind this year they best just stop and start over ..we need a survey to see how many are drawing tags with over 15 points ..it is soooo sad for guys to have all those years invested and not getting rewarded :bash: :bash: People need to quit buying into this crap :dunno: we all seen what happened this year because they are broke ..just imagine what next year would bring if we all just quit :dunno: :chuckle:

I'm In . Mixed my moose choices up a bit . Thinking I better just be happy with any moose tag. Mixed deer up too. Elk I'm all in with two points :chuckle:

After looking at the average points to draw and the number of permits they are giving this year... Does anybody else feel they have a better chance of drawing a moose tag than a late muley or east side bull? :dunno:

The average points are not "average points to draw." The number shown is the average points of the people who applied for that hunt.
But I think you're right- some of those deer and elk permits can be just as hard to draw as a moose tag. Especially for me, with 19 moose points and only three quality deer points.
My odds for drawing a moose tag might actually be better than my quality deer permit odds. :dunno:

I’m giving up applying for special permits. It’s not worth the expense given the odds.
So good luck to you! :hello:

it is expensive if you apply for most tags, especially considering we are residents. Not bad if you just do quality deer and elk.
-
Good luck. I've been all out for a couple years now.
-
I didn't participate last year out of protest. This year I put in for the MH Region 5 2nd elk damage tag. I assume they'll be using us to cull limping elk. That's my intention, anyway. I have yet to apply for any OIL or quality tags. I figure I can't even get Multi-season, why bother? :dunno:
-
I'm all in! Yup it's frustrating and a bit expensive, especially when you're putting your kids in for everything too :) But honestly, I love application time, love to study the stats, love the anticipation. Just one special tag has the potential to create so many years worth of memories. I've had a couple good tags, "tagged" along on several others. Good times, good times.
-
I'm all in too. But, since I drew Quality Bull and Quality Buck both in 2012, I don't stand much of a chance. But, can't win if you don't play. I'm not holding my breath for a moose tag either...lol.

Just Quality Elk. No competition from me anywhere else in the draw. If a crow leaves a c note on my doorstep, some might go to the raffle.
For the guys that like the stats and numbers, might look to see if there is a special tag booklet. It might not exist in Washington, though. But Oregon has a pretty big book that breaks down every tag--applicants/points/previous years' harvests, odds. Figure with similar systems there might be a similar resource around.

You cant win if you don't play the game. Its just money, I sink more into gas in the truck for a hali trip than I do on permits. And I play them all. I draw something every 2-3 years so it keeps me coming back. Common OIL... :IBCOOL:
