Title: Summer Rendezvous demo schedule?
Post by: Humptulips on May 05, 2015, 01:10:27 PM
I've been working on it this rainy day. Anybody have anything they would like to see? Now is the time to make suggestions.
Things I have already: Fleshing demo, trap building demo with several trap makers, Trap makers show how their traps work, mini demos on trapping mink, rats, beaver, otter, coon and cats for benefit of beginners all in 2 hours, fur fashion show and otter trapping round table discussion.

I could use a couple more good suggestions.

Maybe some of the different strategies for baits and lures as well as making lures.  :dunno:

Could we add a quick talk on dispatch methods and shot placement? Like between the eyes or in the ear vs choke pole, lethal injection, CO2, or drowning? Not the whole AVMA handout, but a quick talk.

Maybe a show & tell of different tools guys have in the fur shed. Skinning, fleshing, stretching tools, benches. Maybe it's a board with pictures of different things they find useful in the shed.

What are the dates? And where? I'd be happy to do a marten demo if I'm around then.
I'd like to see someone do a otter or beaver fleshing demo using a pressure washer. I've heard mix reports about using that technique.

How about putting a panel of women trappers togrther? ?   :yeah:

I'm thinking maybe Diane, she did a great job last year talking about trapping in a Alaska.
I'm thinking Diane, Karen, Doug's daughter, and maybe my wife Lydia, I'm sure she can tell you a story or two about living with a trapper  :chuckle:  also maybe my daughter Tania she is a good trapper.

So what do you guys think about this idea ?
