Title: Tom down
Post by: kevinlisa06 on May 07, 2015, 09:36:42 AM: We have been having a tough go at getting birds to be cooperative this season. Gobble at first light then silent all week and not wanting to come to any calls. The wife and I woke up at 4:00am out of the trailer at 5:00am and headed up the hill. Found a spot to sit and listen then we hear a gobble around 6:00am. So we get ready he gobbles once more so I make one set of calls silently he gobbles again then we know he's coming from behind us so I reposition and see a red head through a tree. He took 2 more steps closer and to my right for a clear shot at 40 yards. I squeezed the trigger and the 4x6 load pummeled him. Bird down at 6:20am

JB you know the spot, where your boys whacked em last year. My dad popped one yesterday in here as well.

Post by: kevinlisa06 on May 12, 2015, 09:03:55 PM: Thanks guys! That's the earliest I have ever gotten a bird to be honest. Was lucky enough to call him away from his hen but the sweet pitch of the aluminum pot call got the better of him.
