We have been having a tough go at getting birds to be cooperative this season. Gobble at first light then silent all week and not wanting to come to any calls. The wife and I woke up at 4:00am out of the trailer at 5:00am and headed up the hill. Found a spot to sit and listen then we hear a gobble around 6:00am. So we get ready he gobbles once more so I make one set of calls silently he gobbles again then we know he's coming from behind us so I reposition and see a red head through a tree. He took 2 more steps closer and to my right for a clear shot at 40 yards. I squeezed the trigger and the 4x6 load pummeled him. Bird down at 6:20am

Nice Kevin, We're leaving for Newport first light tomorrow. Hope they are that cooperative for us. Need to get the Wife in front of one in the worst way.

Travis good luck man! We were in Elk yesterday and the birds gobbled at first light then they were done. Very dry over here!
JB you know the spot, where your boys whacked em last year. My dad popped one yesterday in here as well.
Thanks guys!

Thanks guys! That's the earliest I have ever gotten a bird to be honest. Was lucky enough to call him away from his hen but the sweet pitch of the aluminum pot call got the better of him.
