Just tagged my first wild pig! I was out for less then 15 minutes before this boer wandered into my path.
-
Very nice! Congrats!
-
DIY on private land. Just picked up another tag going for number 2 this evening.
-
Nice. What area are you hunting?
-
Outside of Ukiah.

Thats a big ol piggie! Gun? Caliber? Details man....details! Getting anything done? I've got a hog skull above the work bench in the garage, pretty gnarly.
-
I shot him at 20 yards with my Remigton 700 in .308. I had no idea how tough these buggers are. I shot him right behind the shoulder and he still managed to take off another couple hundred yards. After I managed tracked him down, he got up and started to take off again and had to put another round in him. I can't stress enough how tough these suckers are.

That's a hog.

Here's mine from last week. MUCH smaller, but happy for the meat. Guided hunt on private land near San Ardo. One shot at about 100 yards with .300 WSM dropped her in her tracks.

Congrats thats a nice hog! They are so tuff. Time and time again i have seen hogs soak up lead. My last boar i shot with a 340wby. 225 grain accubond took half his heart and he still went close to 100yards.

Maybe you need to use a little less gun or my girlfriend got real lucky on her hog. She shot a 225 lb feral hog in FL back in March, one shot from about 40 yd with a 6.5x55, 140 speer bullet, DRT. Her first ever kill. Great eating

Nice pigs. As soon as I can put it together, I'm going to TX and hunt on a friend's property down there.
-
nice pigs-the first one looks like a monster nice work
-
Great pigs, thanks for sharing!!

Are these wild hogs good eating? I love pork and smoke a ton of it a year on my smoker at home. just curious if these wild ones taste as good ? Thanks.

Wild boar is excellent meat and less fatty than the factory stuff you get at Freddy's. It also has way more flavor without being gamey.

If anyone wants to hunt wild pigs. Google Bufford Springs Ranch. They are about 54 miles North East of Pendelton, OR. Cost around $300 per person. No need for a guided hunt; the rancher has them all over the property. My buddy shot a 550 pound hog last May. His buddy and son shot 2 smaller pigs. They tagged out in less than 48 hours and passed on a few. You can walk the area or ride around on ATVs. I am going next year to try it out.

Very nice Congratulations!
