Got this picture from a friend who has a place on the Pend Oreille. Apparently was taken by a PUD worker about 12 miles north of Usk.
-
Cool Pic!
-
Nice
-
Hope I don't run into that guy!
-
Awesome animals
-
East or west side of the river?
-
I'm going to guess west side of the river.
-
I've seen/heard of plenty on the east side is why I asked.
-
Respect from me ...
-
Thats a cool spot and picture. Thanks for sharing, We can never be too safe. Just wait till he puts some meat on that hide this summer! That will be one BIG GRIZZ.
-
My parents have a place north of usk. East Side of river. It was probably 8-10 years ago we saw one just off the road standing on its hind legs looking at us when we stopped to look at him. I know a buddy who has seen one in the same area as well. I could do without seeing one while hunting! To scary!
-
I have been told its grizzly rehabilitation area for problem grizzlies from Yellowstone so thats pretty awesome....................... :yike:
-
Awesome sight to see, on a forum. I'm unsure about my willingness to share the woods with them. :yike:
-
I haven't seen them yet up there, but did receive a written warning by the local Bio for having unattended coolers at our campsite because we were in the "Grizzly Recovery" area. This was almost 2 yrs ago up Leclerc cr

I don't believe that's accurate.
:dunno:
-
Thats what my friend told me who's friends with a game warden told him anyways.

I believe that by WA state law, importing or transplanting grizzlies is illegal.
-
Good thing the gob mint would never do something illegal, like facilitate the sale of sport utility rifles to transnational criminal organizations....
-
I think they save the law breaking for the really big stuff - gun sales, incursions into friendly countries - you know, stuff like that. The state law was passed (and please tell me if I'm wrong), because the Wildlife Commission and several legislators didn't want the USFWS bringing these beasts into NF of NP land from where they might move into state or private land, endangering our state's citizens. Bigtex, you around somewhere on this?
-
If I remember a post by Bearpaw correctly the USFWS illegally used the Pittman Robertson Act funds for wolf reintroduction. >:(

:jacked:
Are you sure it was him?
-
I have a place on the east side of the river in that area. Did you ever figure out which side it was on?
-
Yes, I believe you're correct. But remember, the state worked along with the USFWS in the wolf plan. In the grizzly plan, that's not so.

That's definitely not true. No one is moving bears into this area. There are six collared bears up here as part of a research project, but they were captured here.
-
Doesn't look like that one has a collar on.
-
They're invading! Run for your lives!
-
Those bears range a couple hundred miles . I was told there has been 39 confirmed bears over the years. I've had one run in and that's enough for a life time.
-

Give it time....
They don't have all of them collared.
-
The one I ran into had no collar five or six years back
-
Looks like I have to get a larger defensive carry weapon for while I'm out and about...
That said, last thing want to do is shoot a grizzly. They are amazing. Top apex predator. I wouldn't mind seeing one, but wouldn't want to have to kill one in defence of life or property....
-
All I had was a bow and bloody pants. I felt small

I hope my 10mm with 15 rounds would make something like that at least not want to eat me if hes coming at me. .44 mag is to heavy to pack around bow hunting to me.

As long as they're depleted uranium rounds, you should be fine.
-
2 in northport are not collared. The sow has 2 cubs

Bear spray would work better. And you wouldn't have to go through any investigation

I don't think you realize who you are talking to.

Isn't WAcoyotehunter a game warden?
-

I would say for the most part I carry for self defense against wierdo's. I think I have more of a chance of having a problem with some crazy person than an animal. I like the dual purpose. Im not going to shoot some crazy in the face with bear spray if he has a gun. :o
