Post by: dreamunelk on May 18, 2015, 10:54:05 PM: Yup, it is time. Already seen pasture elk with calves following the group. And lawn deer with fawns. Actually not good. >:( Wild elk should be peaking about second week in June. Deer in 2 or 3 weeks.

Post by: fishnfur on May 20, 2015, 11:38:14 PM: Blacktail carry a fetus for an average 203 days. If the peak of the rut is the first week of November, the majority of the fawns dropped should see light of day around the first day of June.

Interesting that you've all seen so many early fawns recently. It certainly explains why the bucks start moving around so much in mid-October. There is surely a few receptive does during those early days.

Hopefully you'll get a couple of fawn shots once it starts browsing with mom.

first was the trail to access it became over grown in the last 3 weeks. It kind of sucked, I couldn't find my way through the berry bushes. It took me several hours to navigate what used to be a 25 minute walk. So Here I am, scratched and swetty:

No, we weren't in the area that day, although the black dogs name is bear. It could have been a young black bear with pointy ears, just too bad that is the only pic I got of "mystery animal"

It's mid-September and I've only actually seen 1 bear this season, this one will be a shooter when I see it.

Cooper's Hawk, look at the long striped tail. Probably going after all those birds seen in previous pictures.

I don't know if the one is a bobcat or not, but there is a moth flying above it. ;)

I hadn't considered it might be a bigger bird in the pic.
I have 3 cameras spread out over about a 2 square mile area of walk in only logging roads and clear cuts, I will take you up there anytime you want to hunt deer, bear, or preditors, although it sounds like you have a busy season planned already. :tup:

Bushnell: never worked, even right out of the box.

Stealth cam: Worked great for 6 months then quit

Moultrie A5: works good after 1 year, low quality pics, long battery life, sensitive motion sensor, lots of blanks

Moultrie A5" worked good for about 2 years, low quality pics, long battery life, sensitive motion sensor (Stolen)

Moultrie A7, Works great, I cant view the pictures in the field on my digital camera (only complaint)

CuddeBack Attack Black Flash: Works Good after 3 years, High quality pics, and good battery life, the motion sensor is not sensitive enough. I get almost no blanks but I kind of feel like I might be missing some critters.

The Cuddeback is perfect if I use it in a close quarters area like on a trail in the brush, but they cost $200 ish. Maybe the new Long range ones are the ultimate trail camera? The A5's have great range and battery life but low quality pics, and lots of blanks, However sorting through all the blanks isn't that bad when I am sure I am not missing any critters, and they can be ordered for about $50 bucks. All things considered: I don't think I will be buying anything but the Moultrie A5's in the near future. I can stick them in a clear cut for a few months and not lose sleep at night.

I would rather have a camera with a fast shutterspeed than massive resolution. I wonder which one makes the camera more expensive?

Post by: TheSkyBuster on December 12, 2015, 05:30:18 PM: Most of my blanks are caused by grass or bushes moving in the wind. Cuddieback doesn't seem to have an issue with that. But when I walk by 30 feet away it doesn't take my picture. I guess it all really comes down to proper placement of the camera. And proper placement varies between brands of cameras

Post by: lokidog on December 12, 2015, 06:05:34 PM: Thirty feet is too far for the sensor on my Stealth Cam. It also seems to have a slow shutter speed. Sorry for the thread jack. You do have a lot of decent pics though.
