Well folks it's that time of year again to hunt down one of the tastiest creatures to come out of freshwater. H20, Brad, and others did such a good job last year I would like to continue the competition.
Same as last year largest crawdad and/or most in one pot and ending on the season closing October 31st. Also, in keeping this honest only pics of live or uncooked hogcraws.
I will start it off with a packet of custom bait bags to the person getting the largest crawdad. Got the bait bags in today!
Below is a pic of my first haul of the year, 40 crawdads in two pots! Nothing over 7 inches but a decent haul from a small creek by my house.
And below that is what I saw at the Marysville Fred Meyer last week. I asked the meat manager where they got them and she did not know other than they came from their supplier Pacific Seafood’s, $8.99 a pound whole!

ALRIGHT! im gonna be dropping pots this summer for sure! love me some mud bugs

I"M IN!

Shrimper....I seek your guidance. I wish to trap my own Hogcraw. I have a son, "the boy", that is 9 this summer. This is up our alley. Would you care to privately share this stream info? I have some ideas of my own we could discuss and go from there.
I propose a 1 inch handicap for last years winners. Only a suggestion as I wish to participate as a competitor this year.
-
I really hope to have an entry this year....
-
I use to work for pacific seafood. I was told that they get them from lake Washington.

I pulled my first pot yesterday and put it back out for an overnight soak, will check today after work and probably put out another pot too. I'm pumped about a low country boil hopefully soon!!

Crawdad time, game on!!

Oh yeah, the low country boil is a favorite family meal!

ok shrimper pm me to please. I had a crawdad trap that i could not get anything. If you could give me some pointers that would be great.
When i was a kid used to go out and we would catch them by had. turn over the rocks real slow a grab them. back would not allow that now... would get a couple of 5 gal buckets half full... good eating.

Set your traps right where you used to get them by hand, it's way easier.

Any pics of homemade traps? I love catching those with my boys but we typically snorkel for them. We have tried trapping them and have used bacon, chicken liver, fish and chicken as baits. Any other suggestions for bait? Thanks.
-
Yum!
I'll help someone since I sold my boat last summer.
-
Ok...I'm in the game folks. I went out to a super secret end of a lake that may be called Cassidy...the spot I wanted to fish is now being developed...granted the house going up looks pretty darned amazing but no go! So I road hunted, drove around, spotted a nice little patch of grass with a small dock and no trespassing, took a shot and knocked on a door, was thanked for asking, got told no, shook hands, and back on the road. Found a ditch creek that looked promising if I wasn't in flip flops, moved on. Ended up dropping a pot just for kicks off a another secret location....okay it is at Lake Stevens. I'll check it this evening and see what I have going. Regardless...I'm fishing.

I use salmon heads I buy at the grocery store. I usually get a couple for a $1-$2. I chop them up and put in my bait boxes.

Make sure your bait is fresh; if it is at all turned it will not work as well. Crawdads prefer live food "fish" if they can catch it and it goes down from there. I would stick with whole fresh fish parts, which would be your best bet for bait.
-
I'm looking forward to soaking some pots this year too. Was skunked on my first outing dropping pots into Lake Kapowsin, but it wasn't an ideal time (day, not overnight). Looking forward to hitting some spots in Eastern, WA as well as trying Mineral later this year.

I have a spot that might be right up your alley with "the boy".

Not sure. You gotta ask whomever took my pot.

The shad are coming over Boniville in good numbers. There are some members that will give you shad for bait if you ask them nicely... Good luck to all Crawfisher's! Be safe and don't forget your life vest. Crawfishing is a very dangerous sport. Good looking first pots Schrimper!

another week the pots are going out
-
what pots/traps do you guys use? all mine they can just escape and I typically have a few and no bait.
-

Mostly use the 10$ Danielson traps. Have one Bullard trap and a couple schrimp pots. I pull them at about an hour soak so I don't get to many excapies.
-
I *had* two fo the basic cheepo cylinder pots. The have the funnel ends and connect in the middle. My idea was to put my bait in a crab bait "pouch" to keep it dead center. I'm down to one pot now. See above posts. Gotta call Shrimper....he's got a gimmie spot all picked out!
-

Sounds like you have a spot loaded with dads; need to pull your pots sooner. If not, use a bait bag that should keep them interested longer.
Basically what happens is the nearest dads go into the trap first and ravage the bait and then the bigger ones go in scare all the small ones out and then pack your bait out. It can happen quickly if there are a large number of crawdads.
-
ok tried it once last year and came up with nothing (though I only soaked the pot for a couple hours late one evening while I fished) - now I need to try again just to get the skunk off. Tried lake sawyer, dunno if that's any good or not? If anyone wants to show a guy; I'll drive and boat, might even pick you up at your doorstep - if not too far away :). Would love to find some south king county lakes that hold 'em.
-
Does anyone know anything about 'dads in Lake Sammamish. I'm inclined to want to put a trap somewhere in the slough at the north end of the lake, but that is predominantly a muddy bottom with lily pads. I assume that lily pads and a mud bottom are not good crawdad habitat? Can anyone lend some insight? How much structure do they need? Is a piling good enough, or do you need some underwater branches? How about rocks, do they need rocks or just like rocks?
-
I've always found the largest numbers close to large rock piles. The slough has a bunch of crawdads, just look for some good rock and send em down. Sammamish is loaded with crawdads. Again, just look for rock piles of grapefruit sized rock or bigger and throw out the pots

I have real good luck in rocky areas. I'm not sure why the crawfish up here prefer rocks over mud? The crawfish in the south say Louisianan like mud aka mud bugs...... Maybe a member from the southern states could emphasize on this caricterestic.?
-
Different species of crawdads may have something to do with it, as well as different habit and available food sources
-
Rocky areas for me too. I think it has to do with the species of crayfish. The ones up here (native Signal Crawfish) prefer rocky areas. Some of the species down south will actually make burrows in the mud. I read that they do this when water levels get low. There are a few videos online that show how to find burrows and dig them up. Here's one:
-
That video was a good find! Very interesting. I've heard that crayfish will migrate in that part of the country from one swamp to another at night. If your lucky and find this happening across a road they use square point shovels and fill pick up truck beds up with them and have one big boil!

That's how I heard the non-native ones spread themselves across this state. I've yet to see any of the non-native ones here on the eastside of the state. But, I'm usually setting my traps on the Snake River and not any of the lakes or other streams in the area.

I doubt I'll get out this weekend but you never know. Are we going to require any placards or cards with Hunt WA and 2015 on it this year with our pictures? Also, if you need help running this or if you need donations for prizes/awards let em know. Thanks.

That is a generous offer EdwardO, if you would like to pitch in something for a prize that would be awesome! I have an idea for some trophies.
As for placards I don't think it should be necessary, we all seem to be honest folk. One thing we could add is to get the measurment picture of your hogcraw alive. Any other ideas?

That's a good find on the video PA Ben. Seems this crawfishing is taking the country by storm! Or maybe just me...... :chuckle:
-
Because I'm really bad at this and want to catch some of these things, I'm going to reach out like an idiot. Since we're not talking honey holes for things that matter a ton, I'm hoping I can get a hand.
I live on Fobes Hill in Snohomish. Closest places to my house are down in the Slough (Ebey) and the similar areas. This is all pretty soggy bottomed river, so I'm anticipating that this would be a bad choice for crawdads. Yes, no?
The closest available moving water with rock would probably be the pilchuck river, but its pretty shallow. If I find a deeper spot, like 4-8 feet deep, is that likely to hold crawdads?
I have a buddy with a boat on Sammamish. When we've gone to look for structure near the outlet of the lake, its all pretty muddy bottom too, with lots of lily pads... Is there any way to locate rock piles without donning some snorkeling gear and wandering through the lily pads? What am I missing here? How the heck do you find rock piles or are you guys just looking at shore? I feel like most lakes around here aren't very rocky, aside from RipRap banks... Help purdy please.
-
Stang, I would be setting test pots in sammaish. Polorid glasses and look for structure. Or use electronics if you have it? Every crawfish honey hole I have found is by setting test pots and slowly closing in on them. It has takein years of my life to find what I have found. Lots and lots of empty pots to get to the glory of a full pot!

I was afraid of that. I've set several blind "test pots" and never caught a thing. Maybe i'll try the snorkeling idea...
-
Stang: Also, what are you using for bait, what time a day are you putting these traps out, and how long are they set for?

Stang: Also, what are you using for bait, what time a day are you putting these traps out, and how long are they set for?
I mean, I've read that I should be putting them out at night, with fresh bait, and maybe checking them in the morning.
What do I usually do? Put them on a muddy bottom in about 15 feet of water with a can of sardines from 3pm until 9pm...
Might be part of my failure. I'm going to try to give it a better go this year. I want a HOGCRAW trophy!
-
I think an overnight soak is going to be crucial.
By they way.....this ain't little league.....you wanna tropy you need to produce. Participation is NOT good enough!
-
:hello:.. A-Hoy.. Mudbugs Mudbugs Mudbugs...... The Ol' Crawdad thread.. Funny how this really took off a few years ago.. haha... Ive thrown a few test pots out and pulling good numbers already, couple good one, but nothing over 7.5.. Member folks a solid 8.5 or 9 incher is what its going to take to win this sucker...
-
I 2nd the overnight soak. I usually camp when I'm mudbuggin. I'll throw my pots out around 5-6pm and I usually will pull them in around 10pm. Will usually have around 5, if even that, in each trap. Then I will throw them out again and usually in the same spot and retrieve them in the morning, 6-7am. Most times I will have 10-30 in each trap.

Bump for an update on the OP.
Anyone have luck yet?

no >:(

any one do it on high mountain lakes. couple years ago I was up deer hunting in a wilderness area, went in a day before the season opened to get situated and do some scouting. we caught a few trout and gutted them and left them in the lake to stay cool till we cooked them, came back from scouting that night to find trout bones and tons of crawdads, needless to say we had crawfish instead of trout that night. shocked me. it was about 6,000 ft elevation

Yes, some of the best crawdadin and biggest i have seen are from the Mt Lakes... either dog um or through a trap.. Its fun to watch cause typically the Mt lakes are so clear you can see the mudbugs heading towards the trap.. pretty cool..
-
Had a decent pull this morning, 20 keepers in three pots, 7 1/4" is the biggest so far this season.
The creeks are producing more than the lakes are so far. Last pic is of a scouting trip earlier this week.
Steaks topped with crawdads tonight!

I was hunting Rimrock off the PCT 2 years ago, was VERY surprised to see a huge claw in a tiny little creek about 100 yards off the Cascade Crest.

I think I need a picture of what acceptable creek habitat looks like. I was wading around the Pilchuck river like an idiot, getting my jeans soaked, on Saturday looking for Craw-bitat. I found... nothing that I deemed acceptable and no claws laying around. Anyone have a pic of what preferred habitat on a small creek looks like?

I would think the Pilchuck would be a good spot. It reminds me of the river I caught tons of them in when I was younger. We used to catch them by hand and fill up 5 gallon buckets. The water doesn't necessarily have to be deep we catch a lot in the riffles. Lately my dad and I use traps. We've found if you leave it overnight a lot escape. Throw out the trap an hour or two before dark then pull it at dark.

Do you have to find like deep water areas or larger rocks? I wouldn't assume fist size and smaller cobble in 2-3 feet of water holds many 'dads. Fist size and smaller cobble is what I was walking over this weekend.
-
We don't set ours in deep water. 3 or 4 feet is good. The rocks don't need to be huge fist size and bigger works. But honestly we do best when the bottom is solid rock like limestone or whatever. Find a slower spot where leaves and sticks collect. They like to hide in that.

Real nice pulls!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :IBCOOL:

I just like boiling them tell they turn lobster red, then just shuck the tail and dip them in cocktail sauce or garlic butter.. taste just like a little lobster and shrimp..

When you see just a claw in a creek, its from battle and another crawdad tore the claw off.. They are little warriors... sounds funny but its true.. aggressive little *censored*s...

Below are a few pics of some promising areas I scouted yesterday. All of the pics have crawdads in them.
Stang - your not an idiot you are just starting to ge the crawdaddin' bug.
Here is a quote form Elkpiss a few years ago, pretty much sums up the crawdaddin' bug:
There were days of elk hunting I wanted to go check my crawdad pots more then elk hunting... WTF?? :dunno:
:bash: im addicted to this chit... :bash: Pretty bad when i got a screamin bull coming in to my calls and all I can think about at the time, is where and how to catch a 9.5 inch mudbug.. :bash: & we did kill that elk.. lol
-
Game time, thanks Shrimper. That will get me started.
-
lol that's funny Shrimper, that was awhile ago that quote.. we had the bug bad that summer... We had pots in every body of water within 10 miles of where I live.. once we found the glory hole it wasn't really as fun anymore.. so now we are just trying to find a 9 incher.. A 9 inch crawdad is the equivalent to a 400 inch bull.. There hard to get... ive got 8.5's but No 9er's yet.. Its always fun to pull a pot in New Water.. could be that 9 incher... :llam:..
-
That's weird, cause word on the street is you've taken several 9"ers :dunno:

OK,
You all have me getting the bugg!
What traps to you find work the best. Or do you make them yourself.
How do you keep them from being stolen, with bouys tied to them it must say " Hey Thiefing A-Hole come steal me"

Thread mini-hijack.
Does anyone know where I can buy live local crawfish Friday am? 40lbs or so. I've poked around Pike place, Fisherman's Terminal and a few other places around Ballard but nada.
Thanks for any assistance!

Just go to any sporting good stores and they usually sell a lil cradad pots for like 6-10 bucks.. they work great, use some string as your rope to keep it kinda of concealed.. punch holes in a little butter dish, zip tie it inside ur trap for a bait container put a baseball sized rock in it for weight and pitch it out there, let soak for 3-6 hrs and check your pots.. buy 2-3 pots, you want a few .. and anything greasy works as bait. :rockin:

Just finished the annual family camping trip at our favorite crawdaddin' spot. This year we did not catch the numbers we usually do but the dad's we did catch were big, including this nine incher and a few others that were just under.

Okay, I have a question. What's everyone's method for purging the dads before cooking. We've put a crap ton of ice in the live well of our boat, then in 2-3 hours we cooked and ate them. In the past and that seemed to work okay. One time we just let them sit in a bucket of water with a trickle of fresh water flowing in it, then a couple of hours later we cooked the dads and they were super dirty. What do the rest of you guys do? Also, is there any dads in Waitts Lake near Addy? We're going the last week of July.
-
I think I heard Waits has them? As for purging.I have seen how to video on YouTube.
-
I haven't tried it yet, but my hunting buddy says to put them in a bucket of salt water and they purge pretty quick.

Curious how deep you set your pots?
-
For anyone curious how to keep people away from your pots. This system seems to work? Crawfish ON!!!! Setting some test pots on our way into town for the 50th annual Rodeo. Big Rodeo may mean big Crawfish catches? We shall see??????? :IBCOOL:
-
Great Idea!
Where we were camping last June there were a few pots on the far end of the lake from us and I saw no less than six different people pull these pots. Some people on paddle boards, some on jet skis, and even one person on an inner tube, complete idiots. None of them stole the pots just pulled and reset, hard to catch anything with the pot being pulled every two hours.
-
We use the white tape for our near shore sets and here's one of our bouies with the same message. Also with address and phone number on both. It does seem to help. Oh ya no test pots set last night my ideas and the wife's wernt meshing so will get back to test pots latter.......... :chuckle:

Fresh bait only most any fish even carp. Put a fist sized rock in pot. Rocky bottoms softball sized rock and bigger. Good luck!

For me, I do well with salmon heads I buy from the grocery store (usually $1 for one or two). I usually do my Crawdaddin on the Snake River in rocky areas, 4-8 ft deep. I don't weigh down my traps. I just tie my traps on shore around a rock or bush. I'm usually on a road side camp spot so my traps aren't unattended.
Hope it helps. I also got a lot of good info on www.terrybullard.com

Thanks guys. Overnight soaks or just few hours at a time?
-
Overnight for me. Usually put in early evening and retrieve 6am-7am or whenever I get out of my tent :P
-
I always used good ole hickory smoked bacon, stuff it in a bait box and your good to go
-
Thanks for the quick advice everyone. I'm gonna give a go at it being as I've had three new traps since last year and just never made it out. Ill make sure I post some photos.

Do you put the traps in the Palouse or the Snake? this sounds like it could be something I could get into. Do you build your own traps or buy? what do you use for bait?

I'm using a couple of Frabill traps that a bought at Tri-State in Moscow. I've been using salmon heads in the Snake River. Usually get 10-30 per pot. I have two different pots and weird that the smaller one gets more crawdads.

Went to Waitts lake last weekend. There's dads in there but couldn't get them to get into my pots or anyone else's pots for that matter. The kids were catching them by wading out and flipping rocks. I was too much of a puss to do that. The owner of the resort we stayed at said there used to be a lot more dads in the lake but the catfish put a huge dent in the population in recent years.

Getting skunked and getting puzzled as to why. :dunno: Fun to see your catches.
Five overnight soaks this summer in carefully selected places based on reading here. Have caught zero crawdads, four pike minnows and two sculpin/bullheads.
Two nights in an eddy of a large river 8 feet upstream from a broken rock rubble underwater causeway that is loaded with crawdads. One full day in a large clear lake placed in rock rubble continuation of a talus slope. Two nights on different rock rubble riprap in a large river, slow current. I've chosen places with most rocks in the fist to melon size, with a few big boulders mixed in. I am not using a boat.
I use fresh frozen salmon heads, parts and bellies that I caught, cleaned and froze myself. Bullard trap. I set the trap in line with current, one opening upstream and one down. Depths from two feet to eight feet. Will try setting in a creek next. Lots of dads in the big river near me, similar to lower Columbia, but I have yet to catch one. :dunno:
Looking for any tips or help that has not been posted, that you are willing to share. I will admit that in certain hunting/fishing topics there are difference-making bits of info that I don't share, so no problem if you keep your cards close. Alms for the poor? :chuckle:
-
Not sure how much current they like.....
Maybe cut those pike minnows up....some local forage may help...
Could they simply not be getting in the trap? Getting out?
Sounds like you should be hauling them in? :dunno:
-
If your getting fish (how big?) in your trap, maybe the crawdads are getting out? What kind of trap are you using? I've never caught any fish in my traps. I also use zip ties in my openings, that way they can't get out. I think I posted a picture in one of the other crawdad threads. I'll see if I can find it or I'll try to post a picture tonight when I get home.

Oakanagon try out deeper. Say 15'-30'. Even if you have to use an innertube to set your pots.

The fish are 6" to maybe 8". The trap is made by Terry Bullard specifically for crawdads, and the mesh size wouldn't let a keeper crawdad out. I discovered Terry's traps on this site. I use the metal mesh bait box Terry recommends and hang it in the center of the trap so critters have to go inside to get to the bait, and then can't carry it away nor wolf it all down but have to pick at it through the wire mesh openings which are about 1/2 or maybe 3/8 inch across.
Appreciate the info from everyone. I'd try more often but am cautious about having someone steal my trap, so only set it when time allows me to set it at or after dark and pick it up before sunup. May go check out a small creek outlet from a lake this evening.

it is good to camo your rope up so they don't get stolen, but I have had quite a few stolen, or lost in the river from getting hung up on the bottom, but I just say "hey that's just crawdadin"..

Thanks for the pics of gear and good places to set. Really helps.
I checked a creek outlet from a lake today but it was so low and dry plus mostly mud with way less rock than I recalled, that I didn't set. Not much time lately but am into this now!

Set pots friday night and caught some real good eaters but no Hogcraws......

Very Nice HUNTINCOUPLE!
We did the same on a friday night soak a bunch of good eaters but no hogcraws biggest was about 8".

All are using differnt baits and most have a favorite.
My setup: standard mesh trap, the rectangular wire mesh trap you find at the sporting goods store.
Bait cage: suet feeder cage wired to the bottom, yes the bottom not the middle.
Bait: 1/4lb frozen burger patties (2) with the paper left on the patty against the trap and the other wax paper sheet removed.
I believe patience has been the most important ingredient. I leave the traps out for twenty four hours now and they come back with good numbers.
I dont go out but maybe once a month but we have a good time and a great feed.
54 Bugs, Red potatoes, whole mushrooms, onion, sweet corn and Zatarans Crab boil.
Just add cold beer and stir.

Low country boil with cold banquet beer, T Pearce you have it dialed in!

That looks tasty T pearce :EAT:

Thanks,
It really was good but we had a couple no shows and this left just my buddy and I to clean it up...... we ate like a couple Labradors let loose in a quicky mart.

Okay, finally got a productive spot to catch a few dads thanks to a friend of mine. She did some recon work and made sure the dads existed in this particular body of water before we wasted our time throwing pots. We threw out 1 pot Thursday afternoon with a small trout and a can of cat food for bait. We pulled it Friday morning with six dads, threw it back and pulled it Friday afternoon we got 4 more. I know that's hardly enough for a small child to survive on but we kept them more for novelty reasons... Gosh darn it we were damned and determined we were going to eat those suckers. I'm glad we did because they were really good. I don't know if they were unusually good because they came from a river and or because I cleaned them with salt before I cooked them. Our biggest was only 6 1/2" but it had a huge set of claws on em'. Anyway I'm pretty happy so far :)

no drama. In fact I will be goin tomorrow. If I get another one over 11" I will post it. Other than that I will just watch this thread and enjoy other people's pics.

I was kidding man.. it is fun to crawdad, but I think overall this whole thread is just for fun man.. I don't think anyone will get to stirred up over a crawdad, even though I would like to catch 10 inchers.. This whole thread is all in good fun with a lil smack talk but its obviously a joke when we smack talk over a mudbug.. Sooo Keep postin your giant fukn mudbugs man :)!... :rockin:

Well we made probably our last set of the season Friday night. With hunting starting and Salmon's coming up will be busy with those activities. We got about 30 good eaters and one very stretched to 7".
-
The Feast of the BUGS!!!!!!
-
Are there any regs for crawfish gear beyond using only 5 pots. Does it matter what color buoy I use or how big the pot is? Sorry rookie questions but would like to give this a shot this year.
-
Any of you crawdad hunters on this site have a Toyota Sequoya with a sticker on the back window that says "MudBugz 4X4" with crawdad sticker on it. Maybe it is a 4x4 club or something. Saw it on I-5 this morning.
-
Wasn't me :(

Real nice soak high country!  Thanks for the post!!!!!

Good lord! Appears to be a bucket-o-hog craws.

I have got to get me some traps. I made one one year, but when i went to check it, it was moved and empty. Haven't tried since. I don't know if it was the current, the trap or what. What bait were you using ?
-
I went to the store and bought a hog ring kit and a roll of 1/2" metal mesh. My trap was made in 30 mins and works well. The trap matters less than the bait and location.
-
Probably my last trip of the season yesterday- decided to do a crayfish / grouse combo day. Dropped my traps and then started looking for grouse. The birds weren't cooperating, but when I pulled the traps, the crayfish definitely were! Best trap had 43, worst 8. In total, I had 135 mudbugs. No hogs, but they were all a good size. Between the crayfish haul and the beautiful weather, it wasn't a bad day at all.

-
Nice job everyone.
-
Ahh yes, ol' Southpole bringing up the rear again :'(. I could have easily got best pot count if I the fires hadn't have prevented me from going to one of the best crawdad lakes in the state :'( :'( :'( boo hoo poor me :chuckle:
Thanks you Shrimper for being the Hogcraw MC. Good job everyone. I'll be looking forward to next year :hello:
-

Alright guys...lol feel dumb asking this, but,
I haven't gone out for crawdads since I was 9 or so and that was just for s**t and giggles.
Now I want to get my boys out doing it so.....is there a season, lisc required. What works best lakes or rivers/creeks. What signs would indicate a good area?
Thanks in advance for any tips or pointers

Shank...I would go back and browse this one from the beginning....also, last years Hogcraw thread had a lot of great information. The regs are pretty basic and easy to follow...check them out in the fishing pamphlet.
I'm sure there will be a Hogcraw 2016.........this is to big to stop now. Be careful my friend...this year a 10 inch beast of a 'craw was captured. That will do things to a man. Things that even he didn't know he was capable of. Don't take my warning to lightly...this ain't no 'dadd'n of your youth. This is a pure pursuit of the Hogcraw. Not some little ditch bug. The competition is fierce, spots are hard won, information is hard to come by.
If you are brave enough we will see you in the chase, Hogcraw 16, coming soon.
-
How long can you leave pots in for??

Looked at the regs and see nothing about your question. As long as you like ,it looks like.

If you're in productive water, a few hours is plenty.....if that doesn't get them, they are not there.

if your in a good spot and seems like on hot days all you need to let them soak for is 4-6 hrs.. its fun to dog UM too.. the ol' hot dog on a string trick... :rockin:

Dandy bugs right there..... 9" 10" wow.

Just going through the past Crawfish Threads and how did I miss this NONTYPICAL??????? :yike:
Pic on page 4 reply #197. For reference to pick of the NONTYPICAL Crawfish.
-
Not sure If its listed in here already 11 pages was a lot to go through. But I'm curious what everyone's using for bait? I got a bunch of traps but have never actually attempted to set them out locally.. ?

Fresh bait is best, I usually use trout fillets. Canned Mackeral works good if fresh fish is not avaliable.
-
Cheap can of tuna in oil would work as well
-
Chicken livers always seemed to work well for me.
