Caution on idahos back door. I'm pretty sure the back door doesn't work on trophy species, the reason being that you have already paid for your tag before the draw and as bigshooter said the backdoor is just going to the license purchase page and seeing an option to purchase a controlled hunt tag instead of general tagCaution on idahos back door. Great thing is odds could be worse and there would still be so much great OTC opportunity. I'm only in for extra deer and elk and unlimited archery lopes this year, couldn't apply for the rest since I am still coveting a sheep tag

BIGMIKE- so you actually didn't "apply" for a tag, you just bought a general deer tag. So you also purchased wolf, cougar, and bear tags? Not sure if you know this or not, but your deer tag can also be used on any of those.That'd be an elk tag. And I personally wouldn't use my elk tag for a bear, cougar or wolf even though it's legal. Ok, yeah, I would, for a 400# bear, a cougar at 5 yards or a wolf on the last evening of the hunt.

I put in for hunt number 2010 which is elk in area 36A-2, dates 10/1 - 10/15. If I draw this and don't get an elk during the controlled hunt, can I hunt the general season in area 36? There is no B tag general season for area 36A.

My cousin lives in Lewiston, he has hunted that unit a couple times. I don't think it's as good as it was many years ago, but they took decent deer.You guys should have fun in 11, my group didn't draw.We drew nothing in WA so I was glad to see something in ID.
