Title: Only a rumor but......
Post by: deerhuntr4885 on June 01, 2015, 05:47:10 PM
A friend was talking to someone from WDFW yesterday and he was told that there was an 80% chance that all High Hunts in Chelan County will be closed this year due to drought. Nothing is confirmed but thought I would pass it on.

I would be surprised. The feds would probably have to close the wilderness areas for that to happen.

I'm not sure why closing the deer season would be necessary, because of the lack of snowfall this past winter. Makes zero sense.

I agree. There are already fires restrictions in many high hunt areas, there is no reason to restrict non-motorized access.

 :yeah:
 :yeah:

Agree with both you guys..would make zero sense. I have no idea what the drought would have to do with the High Hunt.

I can't believe anyone buys in to this garbage. Not a rip on the OP but give me a break... BTW - What drought?? We are near or at normal rain fall!

No snow does not = drought!!

There are significant high hunt access areas in the Entiat area and other closures in the Swakane areas(Chelan County) that are closed to human entry, but not because of a lack of water.

Hey, I never claimed it to be fact. Just telling you what I was told.  Makes for good discussion only.  But I seem to remember it being closed once before many years ago.  Am I wrong?

It is thought of as irreplaceable in terms of a human life span.  Some of these aquifers were built during the ice ages over thousands of years, and are being withdrawn from at a rate that far exceeds their recharge rate, which in the case of some of the aquifers in NV, AZ and TX, is close to zero.  Some people refer to this as water mining.

I think that was probably built by the many lakes and rivers of the Missoula floods, and is now being water mined also

I had to laugh a few weeks back on the news they were saying that if the boise basin has another snow year like the last we will have no water for the farmers, then I drove by lucky peak and arrowrock reservoirs, as well as lake lowell and all 3 are full pool for the 1st time since 2009, darn this terrible drought we are in. I guess maybe if they are really worried about water for the farmers they will stop running the boise river at 2000 cfs in February for the salmon(there are no salmon runs in the boise river but idfg does release a few now and then) and just keep it running at 300 cfs until irrigation time.

The PUD kept the Lake level up this year to make sure it is full at the time they have to have it full. Its the 4th lowest year o  record. We still have 1350 acre ft of water if we wa t to use that much.

Igeuss Dennis Patchen and his crew are lyers then , they said newman lake is closed due to weed control,If we don't watch it they will take this thread away because we might be to politically correct, :yike:,That's correct these terms are on a life span basis and we as those who are alive right now obviousely  frankly scarlet don't give a dam. These underground water sources don't have a chance, once there gone grab a defence weapon your gunna need it,but they are sure comeing a long way in sewage returns that's encourageing. :tup:Its great to see you guys share my pains and concerns really thought I was alone, just kidding, I knew there was one or two of us out there !!

Cryder, the "public launch" at Newman was shut down for 2 whole days for milfoil control. The lake was never closed. Man, you gotta stop drinking the kool aid from the doomsday crowd. It's probably got that "special" ingredient in it.  :chuckle:

I went to Silver Falls and met Bret on Wednesday from the Forest Svc. Why even ask him what was going on but my buddy Jim did retire since last year.
