Congratulations, I believe that's two moose tags in four years. You should buy a lotto ticket. Good hunting

the paper permits are $10 a day or $40 a year. dont know if that is per person or per carload. i will hunt deer and scout for moose at the same time. mike w

Curious...thoughts on time frame on when to do this hunt...?
I can make almost any time work, except for 10/9-10/12 & 11/18-11/30 (mulie hunting).
Here's our thoughts. Going for the opener to do some video, try calling in Bulls and possibly helping other who may want it. I'm in no hurry to notch this tag. I will for sure use my bow and video the hunt, this is a must for me.
I'd love to hear comments and ideas...Thanks! Sean
-
Congrats:
You need to change your handle to: DR MOOSE
Have a great hunt

LOL, thanks bud.....when are you going for your hunt?

Any thoughts on places to Camp for this hunt? Thanks, Sean!

Any thoughts on places to Camp for this hunt? Thanks, Sean!
According to on x maps there is a good size chunk of dnr land south of the intersection of n chapman road and e Blanchard road.
Should be able to camp out there.

youll be able to fill this tag during any of the open season. I would try for November before your Miley hunt.
-
Thanks Bullblaster...I'll check that out!
-
We parked the coach at the top of Blanchard pass in the pull out for 9 days for the bull tag and 5 days for the cow tag and never had any problems with either time.
-
Im hearing that's a good spot, I'll check that out also. You can hunt right from there correct?
-
would Newport be a good place to stay and what would be a good hotel or motel. I have a friend who has a tag, he is 18 or 19. is Newport on the north border? thanks, mike w

newport is probably the closest hotel/motel. Plenty of camping a lot closer.

all the gates are locked right now.
-
So, lets say worst case scenario, no rain to the opener and the gates stay locked....is there still any huntable areas or state land?
-
are the gates locked cuz of fire danger? 2 friends drew and they are not using muzzies. mike w
-
I think this is where I would pose your questions!!!

The dnr land I mentioned is a pretty good sized chunk. I would imagine a cow on that land wouldn't be overly difficult. I haven't been there to know if the roads are gated or not tho.

they shut the gate to the dnr ground between 10/1-10/7 every year. All ground is walkable just a matter of how far you can pack a moose out. Also with 20 cow tags and all gates closed it could get crowded. I would think we will get rain and all will be ok.

good to know. I am sure before moving we will have rain and Iep will open. Personally I wouldn't bother coming to hike in after a cow moose early in the season. :chuckle:

Why was my post removed from here??
-
All IEP is open to hiking or mt bike right now.. I wouldnt hold your breath for rain around here to open areas thru early Oct...our Sept are usually very dry and the type of rain they are talking to open it is when we go from our dry hot to the wet cool days when you know fall has arrived.

There is allot of D N R land directly behind the spot mentioned above

-
shoot it on the road , then all you need is a hoist. you all ready know to not shoot one downhill. good luck. mike w

They're up there. This guy decided my truck needed to stop long enough for him to inspect it last year. I saw a few up there earlier, but no pictures.
-
that would be a great end of the season bull. we will go for 45 plus the first month. in November the 40 plus bull will be sought, last 2 weeks might be anything depending on the weather. mike w
-
45" on Mt Spokane?
-
if you are referring to me it is mica peak. I know where the big bulls are, but don't know if we can get to them. mike w
-
Oh, I thought this topic was Mt. Spokane North. Not sure what Mica has to do with it or that it was even mentioned.
-
sorry, I misunderstood, my bad. mike w
-
Its alllllll gooooood!
Good luck all of you other Moose tag holders! From a guy that's had a bull tag before, take your time, be patient, enjoy it with as many as you can... Sean
