I have a lab pup that I have trained a few things of obdince with such as sit, stay, loading and unloading in my truck, retreive, and marking. I need to know of anything that I need to teach right aeay and some things down the road I will need to work on. I have tried taking her out on my jon boat she loves it but I cannot seem to keep her to stay in it or lay down and stay there. She has not one problem of getting in and out for birds aka (dummies). Anything helps!

How old is your pup? Youtube Bill Hillman and visit his website. It's what I'm following. It's given me as a new trainer some direction. I have watched Chris Akin's Duck Dog Basics and Rick Stawski's Fowl Dogs dvds. They are informative as well and much cheaper. My 2 cents but I'm new at this so take it or leave but it's helped my to have a plan by following a program. I'm sure others will be along with good advise.

I would not allow the pup to jump down from the truck, or down from anything of much height. It can cause damage that will catch up to the dog when its older.

Buy a program and follow it, bill hillman and Evan Graham have great videos!

I recommend getting fowl dawgs and following that. Not as expensive as the others andnive had great success following it so far. Also I'd get the articles from Mike lardy. I've learned a lot from them.

Something folks don't think about until their 7 year old dog starts limping all the time or needs a shoulder surgery that costs more than a months mortgage payment...
