Getting stoked about moose hunting come fall. I know more then a few members have had the awesome experience of having this OIL Tag.
Looking for some field shots.
Post em if you got em👍🏻
-
This will be interesting. There's a video on you tube with the moose PAW66 took with bearpaw outfitters.

All Moose look the same
-
Idaho last fall... always happy to post it again!
Im sure theyll post sideways... but oh well.
-
I really love those long tines. Big paddles are good too. idk
-
I think the overall width did it for me on my bull. Just shy of 52 inches. The lack of points and narrow paddles hurt. But he still grossed B&C. Would net 5-6 inches shy. I wont do any official score tho.

Yeah, me too. We can all dream of Shane's or RaffeMule's bulls, but #2 there would be hard to pass!

im guessing that bedded bull i posted would surpass shanes and my bull score wise... it has it all. Amazing fronts, good paddle width, lots of points, and great overall width. That really is a stud bull!
**not at all downgrading shanes bull! It is a trophy of a lifetime and a masher bull! and i am very glad i got to be there to share the experience!**
-
What do you think that bedded bull scores?
-
What do you think that bedded bull scores?
i would guess low to mid 160s.
-
They are all beauties, I'd be stoked with any of them.
What did Shane's go? Maybe it's the angle, but those pics make it look really big.

i want to say it was mid 140s. I think he was 43? Wide. Maybe shane will confirm. I may be off... that was a while ago.
-
149" the spread killed it..hes wider at the brows than the paddles..his paddles do not lay out they are inline when you look at him head on and taper inward.
-
Shane,
Love everything about your bull. Would love to have the patience and a bit of luck to be able to put my cross hairs on one like that come November.
Awesome bull!!

Yup, me too, except that part about having a tag! My favorite feature is when a shiras has the paddle that extends right into the fronts like that. You don't see that very often. Of course, 50+ inches and triple fronts are okay too. :chuckle:
-
Not field pictures, but a good bull from 49 degrees unit last year.

Slayerz
That is a stud bull my man😜
-
AWESOME BULL
-
He had 34" paddle on that side and 13.5" wide
Scouting that year I found a bull in the summer that had fronts that went into his paddles that were bigger than a punch bowl on this inside it was crazy..never saw him again

Cool video and some beautiful country.
Thanks for sharing👍

Nice

Falcon, that second bull taken in the video, I'm fairly certain, was in your unit.

Could be. I believe the old Threeforks unit was unit 111 and unit 108

might push 160" if all the other measurements work out. If he had 10-12 a side he is a for sure shooter.

no way I could pass him either because I can't draw a tag. But if I could I would let him walk for sure. Most probably wouldn't and that's your choice but I would kill a bigger bull.
-
I am just learning how to judge moose. He looks to be at or over 155. I am guessing 45" spread but that is of course a guess. I love the mass.
Hopefully I will see a few good Bulls. If I see this guy, somebody better be holding my bullets😁
-
Falcon, don't get me wrong 99% of hunters are killin that bull on day one. I live in these units and pick up 35 paddles a year and know there are bigger. 7 years ago I would have shot that bull day one also. Good luck and enjoy that tag.
-
If I see that moose in huckleberry he might have a very bad day! :IBCOOL:
-
Here's an old trail cam pic I have. This was taken in the Unit my dad and I are hunting this fall.
-
Here's a WA moose with some long fronts/brows. If the paddles were a little bigger he'd be really nice.
-
49DN Moose.
-
Miles
First bull is a stud. The second one is hard to see clearly but he looks like a mature bull for sure.
Keep em coming👊🏻
-
Good brows on that second bull

Here's a little guy I called in during early rifle one year. No zoom...

thanks. I have this uncanny nack for placing cams hoping to get elk and end up with tons of moose. Gotten two elk on cam in my life. Prob 100's of moose on cam. Only thing I don't like is of all the moose I got pic of and of the 15-20 moose I've crossed pathes with this year I have seen only one calf about 3 years ago :dunno:
-
Didn't leave much.
Nice work. Not meat left on the bone for sure👍
How was the meat for taste?

The taste was great, burger was the best I have ever had, but the steaks were tough but tasted great. If I have to do it again I would cook up a few steaks before I process the meat. I would have burgered and make roasts of the whole moose.

This moose and cow were just south Of Addy, Huckleberry side cross the HWY and in the 49 side. They were there for several mornings in a row.

Yeah Falcon, I'm hoping for a nice bull, but really, I'm not too picky. I want some good free range, organic, meat.
