Title: Spokane Area

I have been doing a lot of research around the area using maps and such to find hunting areas for pheasant and other upland birds, but I also realize that there is no substitute for experience when it comes to good hunting spots. Does anyone want to share a few tips on the best areas for hunting around spokane. I realize i am going to have to go south a bit. Thanks everyone.

Good looking pup.  :tup:

Head south to the Snake River breaks.  The Army Corp of Engineers has property along the river you can try.  There is some good to very good hunting on the private property.  Go well before the season, take your work gloves, knock on some doors, and offer some help.  That has worked well for me over the years.  :twocents:

Forest grouse in the Colville National Forest, North of Spokane.

Pheasants and Ca. quail on the public WDFW lands around Moses Lake. Check out the WDFW website; it is a tremendous resource. Also, visit the WDFW Region One Office in Spokane Valley.

Checkout the federal BLM Office off Fancher for free maps of federal public lands.

Buy a WA Atlas & Gazeteer; it lists many of WDFW lands and locations in the front section.

Thanks Tom that will help out a lot! Anybody try Chukar down by the Snake River? I hear if you are in good shape and have a good dog you can get some good shooting in.

The maps at the BLM office that show private and public land was invaluable when I first moved to Spokane.  Some nice little morning and afternoon hunts can be had close to town.  But the Othello area became my favorite for day trips.  :twocents:

If you would like to go out sometime this coming season I can take you around to the places I hunt.  I've hunted the same areas my entire life.  Not as many Pheasants as there once was but we have a good time.  Let me know.
