What a joke! Not that I ever buy firearms in Seattle but now 100% sure I wouldn't if this stupid legislation is passed.
The tax, imposed on gun sellers, would be $25 on each firearm sold in the city and five cents on each round of ammunition

SOCIALISM is taking over more and more everyday.....................
-
I just listened to this interview on the way into work and got my blood boiling.
-
I just saw this on the news. Unreal idiots. They are so unbelievably stupid it blows my mind. Next is a knife tax. I HATE SEATTLE!!!
-
"That could fund a two-year gunshot-victim-intervention program and study at Harborview, says Fred Rivara, professor of pediatrics at the University of Washington and a core member of the Harborview Injury Prevention and Research Center. A 2014 report by the center found that individuals hospitalized with gun injuries were more likely than others to be involved in crimes, shot again or murdered."
How is this intervention going to help the person on the receiving end of the gun, teach them how to run faster? :chuckle:
-
This sucks. I have a gun shop that I really like right next to my work. :Bash:
-
Yeah, but now the criminals, murderers, and dirt-bags won't be able to afford guns or ammo, so we will all be safer !! You guys just have to learn to think like liberals to see the brilliance of it !!!
-
I have been to the hospital a few times from playing sports. Maybe they need to tax those dangerous basketballs, baseballs and soccer balls and do some studies. Same logic right? :bdid:
-
"A few opponents of Burgess said the proposals come as the interim President is running for city council re-election, and he hopes of boosting his progressive appeal."
:yeah:
-
So it looks like Seattle must have some extra money they want to spend on another set of lawsuits they will lose.
-
Outdoor Emporium can move to lynnwood yippee!
-
It may not be constitutional anyway and lead to lots of legal fees for seattle. Imagine a specific tax to contributions to PAC's, charities, social service orgs, candidates or a tax for operating a blog or community political forum. A tax designed to thwart the access to a constitutional right is the just as illegal as the direct restriction of the right itself. A sales tax on all products is not such a problem for firearms, but a tax designed to decrease firearm sales and thwart access to the 2A is likely to create constitutional problems. If they can add $25 tax, why not $2500? Waste of grandstanding time, this will cost Seattle millions to defend and solve nothing.

:yeah:
And the tax doesn't even have to pass to accomplish the bolded, just the attempt.
-
bump for making the state of New Washington... its pretty much the old WA minus seattle which is left to itself... anyone read the book 299 days?
-
The city is pretty left, where else would you see a card carrying socialist elected? Like minimum wage, this just drives business out of city limits. Gun shops would follow Walmart and restaurants.
It is the same thing, tax it to pay for something but the funds raised go toward something else. The far left is off on their own little planet.
-

On that note.
Restaurant Prices in SF Rise by 14% After a Recent 14% Increase in the Minimum Wage There

The libs will get what they want, higher prices on guns and food, which disproportionately impacts the poor.
Some compassion there.
This is just another farce designed to do nothing in practice, except impact lawful business owners on their bottom line, while lawful possessors will purchase elsewhere, and while criminals will continue to get them as they always have, straw purchases, theft, and black market.
Don't strain your arm giving yourself a pat on the back, Seattle.
-
What if guns had rainbow patterns and the ammo came in a box like crayons, each bullet a different color? Oh and the guns could be fired lefty or righty for those that go both ways? Could it get an exemption in Seattle?
-

Sounds like they would have to teach them that being a criminal and putting yourself in a position to get shot doesn't work out well.

If a bullet to the gut won't learn them, nothing will.

5 cents on each round of ammo. Note, don't buy the endangered species known as .22 LR ammo in Seattle. :yike:
-
State Preemption should apply. RCW 9.41.290 - The state of Washington hereby fully occupies and preempts the entire field of firearms regulation within the boundaries of the state, including the registration, licensing, possession, purchase, sale, acquisition, transfer, discharge, and transportation of firearms, or any other element relating to firearms or parts thereof, including ammunition and reloader components.
-
Ridiculous and a burden specifically designed to discourage the purchase of firearms and ammunition. This is so unconstitutional that if it's passed, it'll be struck down within minutes by any circuit court in the country, the 9th included.
-
Or state court, as Grundy noted.

only in Seattle! he!! beat the surcharge too! Steal a bicycle (since they are all over) drive down the street that was converted with vehicle registration dollars to a bike trail to that remote parking lot to break in and steal the car to drive out of town to purchase your gun (as you are not yet that convicted felon) return to town and rob the corner store with said gun, to purchase your pot from the local greenery saving 25$ which can buy you more weed! So you can go back out in the stolen car and kill someone with said vehicle still in town.... Brilliant!!!

:chuckle: you can always count on WSU and mags going all in on the social engineering experiments of the left. :chuckle:

Cut from a discussion I read on this earlier:

I took WSU's comment as parody.
