Thinking to get a Sako A7 long range or Remington 700 long range
Which gun do you guys think should i get?
-
I have a Rem 700 in .338 WM and Sako Finnlight in .300 WSM. I prefer the Sako, but the Rem 700 has been awesome too. The 700 is the is XCR model.
-
The A7 just may have the worst ammo clip ever designed by someone over the age of 12. But other than that I do like factory Sako rifles more than factory Remington.
-
I have both... I was diehard Remington until I got the Sako A7 (300 WSM). Sako will be at the top of my list for any future rifle purchases.
-
In the short run I think you would be happier with the A7. in the long run, I think you would be happier with the 700. :twocents:

I vote for the Remi 700 series. If the are good enough for the Marine Corps and Army Special Forces, then they are by far good enough for me. R.I.P. Chris Kyle 8)
Even though I do not own either a Sako or Remi, my long range deer rifle is Winchester's answer to the Remi 700. I have a Winchester model 70 short action in .308 with a 26" heavy barrel. With a 10 power mil dot scope. I can hold a 6" group at 200 yards.

Neither......savage lrp or lrh. :twocents:

If leaving factory stock A7, if doing any custom work Rem 700. I gotta say I think the Browning Abolt has the worst magazine ever designed.

:chuckle: so true! I handled one of these in the store when we were looking for a new rifle and thought I was missing something.

Agreed, hunting partner has the A7 and 2 clips. Both of them will spew shells periodically when not in the rifle and have caused the gun to jam when in the rifle. Took some pliers and discrete bending to make the workable. It shoots great but the clips are a joke. Go with the 700 and never look back.

700
If you are getting into long range, chances are you are going to mod the heck out of it. The 700 will have more options from more aftermarket manufacturers and for me that alone is worth it. Everybody and their brother will build for the 700.

Sako if you want a reliable shooter out of the box with resale value.
Rem if you want to triple the price to try to make it shoot like the Sako(Just like the military snipers!).
There is no comparison.

Remington 700, if your handloading pretty much any rifle will shoot well.

:yeah:
That and a trigger

I've owned a dozen model 700's and currently have two A7's in my safe. I much prefer the A7's. Especially the ones with the soft touch stock. Have one in a Sako classic McMillian with edge fill and a soft touch. 270, -06.
Easily the most accurate rifles' Ive ever owned... :twocents:
