I don't know why, but I just got the urge. It will be 6.5 Creedmoor, I have the brass and 6 boxes of Hornady factory ammo for break-in and the brass, and Barnes 129gr LRX bullets, just need the rifle. Initially was looking at the Ruger American Predator for the price and accuracy, but now may be leaning towards the Savage Lightweight Hunter for the lighter weight, but twice the price. Any thoughts?

:)I NEED a new rifle too, how can I convince my wife??

Honestly why not a 6.5 x284 or the 26 nosler ?

He said he already has the ammo for the 6.5 Creedmore!

As for the wife, she really doesn't know what I have in the safe now.
Yeah, I already made up my mind on the 6.5 CM. Obviously jumped the gun on all the supplies, but would have already had the Ruger if they had been more readily available.

Bought my son a Savage axis youth in 7mm-08 last year and the trigger on that thing is NICE!! ALmost makes me want to trade in my remmy 700 with the timney for one. That said, Ruger American is never a bad choice IMHO.

I have the Savage lightweight long range hunter in 6.5 Creedmoor, it is a hell of a gun, worth the money

I've been leaning towards the Savage, but I would like to at least hold one in my hands before buying. I think that it is basically the same action as the Lady Hunter, but with a few more lightweight subtractions, one of which I have seen in town.

Bought one of these for my daughter. I cut the trigger spring a bit to bring it down and found the right reloading recipe. I was shooting 0.684" to 0.8" groups with a sub-$400 rifle with everything stock and a $200 Vortex scope.
It cost me $1500 to get my Remington 700 to do that, so the value is certainly there.

How about the new Ruger Precision Rifle in the 6.5. They look fun.

Gee I couldn't read ! just a question pal . there's a distinct performance advantage with the 284 case. and plenty of gun options as well . picking a gun because you have six boxes of ammo shouldn't be your only reason , being completely happy with the choice should be . If caseknife really want the creedmoore thats great . to push a 140 bullet at 3000 ish he would need the case capacity of the 284 and a bit longer barrell to stabilize that projectile. :twocents: Case you may want to take a look at ershaw gun builders there you can customize one for dang near the box store price $1200-1500.

Coach, no problem with your suggestion, I just seem to get something stuck in my mind and go with it. I don't think that I need 3000fps and I really am intrigued with the CM. I have been on ERShaw's website and was thinking of rebarreling an existing rifle, still don't know which way to go. Probably get the Savage LWH. Thanks for your input.

I dont have a Creedmoor but my brother has a .260 that I reload for and I talked my buddy into buying the Savage LRP in 6.5 Creedmoor and I honestly absolutely love both of them. They flat out shoot out of the box (with my handloads, Berger 140s & H4350) If and when I get a new rifle or add a barrel to my custom Remmy switch barrel I will probably go with a CM or the 6.5x284 as it will be my do it all gun. Basically Coyotes and Spring bear when I draw.
