Thought I would give away some goodies periodically. I will list what is being given away along with a question or series of questions. First person to post the right answer or combination of right answers will get the prize! RAD/Savora will ship to any destination within the USA where USPS service is provided. After we post the winner on this thread we will be sent a PM to the winning member asking for name and address to send the goodies.
rule***MLBowhunting, Whackmaster, DRock and any other member with current or past company ties will not be eligible to win.
-
First question: Give the night shift guys first crack at something for once!
Question: Savora broadheads first hit the national market in what year? Double prize if you can tell me what the name of the broadhead was when first introduced as a commercial product.
Prize = One package of DelMastro LPV100 broadheads and one package of matching replacement blades.
-
1977
-
1974
-
We have a winner already! Before I say which of you that is. Do you want to go for the double and guess first commercial model name?
-
Swept Wing?
-
I'm not sure. I'd just be guessing
-
1974 was the correct year! Unfortunately Swept-Wing was the second generation. The first commercial Savora was called the "Super-S"
-
 Got your PM. Thank you sir!

OK - One more for the night shift guys! Can't Google this one elk247 :chuckle:
Question: My first big game animal with the bow was a buck blacktail. What was the brand of broadhead I was shooting?
I was very scientific back then and chose it based on how cool it looked! Double Prize if you can guess what color the broadhead's ferrule was.
Prize = One package of MadMan LPV100 four blade broadheads and one package of matching replacement blades.

Winner! Winner! Although, while the picture on the card is of MLBowhunting and his Montana elk, his first Savora kill was a Chiwawa muledeer buck.

The one most H-W members have been asking for!! This could be a tough one unless members have a good memory of a post I made some time ago ;)
Question: Most know the Vandyke broadhead is named after my hunting partner. We worked together on this because he likes solid blades, durability, top penetration and unequalled accuracy in all weather conditions. When we first started hunting together his insanely quick kills on elk completely changed the way I looked at low profile broadheads. Can you name the broadhead he used during our first five years of hunting together?
Double prize if you can guess what Savora broadhead model, and it's weight, he switched to when the manufacturer quit making his original choice.
Guess should be made as First Broadhead - Second Broadhead - Weight. Only need the first broadhead correct to win.
Prize = One package of Vandyke LPS100 broadheads, one package of matching replacement blades and one Super-Deuce 38 in our new TAC Brown. Winner may choose aperture size (1/8, 5/32, 3/16, 7/32 or 1/4")
-
No quick responses :chuckle: Is everyone clogging up the H-W "Search" function? That's not going to be easy either. :o
If you get the first question and the double right that's a $140 value. Good luck!!

Here is a hint for you guys.
When we first started hunting together he was NOT a Savora broadhead fan!
-
Howard Hill 160 gr. No idea on the second
Nope! I regret never shooting anything with that head. Was always too spendy for me back in my trad days. There will be a question later with a similar answer though ;) ;)

Long shot here, thunderheads...:-[:-[:-[:-[:-[
You already guessed on this one!
Still not the answer :tung: So that should help eliminate one for the next guy. They'll need it on this question! Lots of hidden hints given too, which might help if guys really pay attention!
-
My bad lol
-
I get excited sometimes!
-
OK, been an hour. Time for another hint!
HINT: His original head weighed less than 125 grains.
-
Time for another hint, I guess.
Hint: When I had my archery shop customers would often ask for this broadhead as "The Dragon Slayer" due to the national advertising campaign at the time.
-
OK Jolten, Kyle1112 and Quadrafire looks like everyone else is busy eating dinner...go ahead and guess one more time!
-
Here is a serious hint!!!
When this three blade low profile design came out it was marketed as a broadhead for Over Draw use.

Was long before the Nitron! Second head... getting closer!
-
1999, 100 grain? I have no idea :chuckle:
-
Zwiky Eskimo
Eskimo is either a two blade or a four blade. His broadhead was a three blade.
-
If no correct answer after I return from supper I'll give another hint.
-
Muzzy mx3 100gr savora champion 100gr

Wasp 85gr sst or hammer?

Long before the MX-3 or the WASP SST series.
-
Next hint!
Hint Broadhead weight was 115 grains. Blades were Stainless.

I have just been told that I may have been wrong about the weight of these heads. A friend from out of state watching the thread thinks they were 120 grain and not 115. I've been searching my archives and I can't find the right magazines to verify one or the other. Those guessing Rocky Mountain are really close! Ferrule construction almost the same, but these were not sold under the Rocky Mountain name.
-
Rocket aerohead
-
I know I have a couple left around here, but dang if I can find them.
Sorry, I didn't realize this one was going to be so hard :yike:
Final hint -
Hint: There were two bow companies that sold nearly identical heads during this time. As mentioned before these were low profile heads. Only one of these bow manufacturers offered this head with stainless blades. Other than blade material the only difference between the two was the shape of the point, the angle at the back of the blade and one company sold them camo colored the other sold the three blade with a gold ferrule and the 4 blade with a black ferrule.

Fred bear?

American Broadhead Sonic?
-
Have mercy Rad! No more Crazy Larry questions. :chuckle:
was he shooting the same head that Uncle Ted shot at that time?
I think I just wasted an hour of my life going through all of wackmasters old posts. Mostly all one word posts, mixed with a few hyphenated words and two word posts. The only useful info I learned is he likes bowtech and likes to heckle fans of teams other than the Seahawks. Now I know where Becky got the pink hello-kitty towel at Joe and April's in 2013. Mystery's solved. :IBCOOL:
The crazy thing is I am waiting for the Ti-con Std 125's :bash: I'm the crazy one!

I am certain he has never shot a Kolpin, Muzzy, WASP, Magnus or a Tru-Flite!

He is a Gonzo Supreme Uncle Ted fan. But has never shot a Ted Head :chuckle: He has not mentioned this head in a post that I know of.
Hmmmm...Hello-Kitty towel for Becky?...I have no idea what you are talking about  8) ??? :chuckle:
I'll make any future "Crazy Larry" questions a lot easier! I wanted this one to be tough as I've had a bunch of folks PM since this thread started wanting the Vandyke heads. Figured tough would be better. Guess I went impossible instead of tough :sry:
-
Satellite? Final answer!
-
Trophy ridge?
-
If anyone guesses the original question OR the Double question I'll deem them the winner of this one! Earlier we had someone close. They got the name correct on the second question just missed the weight.
Satellite? Final answer!
Not Satellite - Biggest hint was "Bow Company"
-
They had a bow with the same name. They also got their broadhead confused with Butterfield's broadhead with the same name.
Now Someone has got to get that!!!

Can I just guess all the bow brands at once?
-
PSE brute
Halleluiah! We have a winner!!
Whackmaster shot the three blade PSE Brute with solid low profile stainless steel blades. Killed absolutely everything he shot at. And most of the time we just watched them go down! The Vandyke takes much of that same design into a more modern hi-velocity world with ten times the durability! Truly is everything a Vandyke head should be!
Now do you want to take a crack at the Double question before we call this one done?

Doh!! It was the Contender 80 grain.
What aperture size do you want your peep to be? Your inbox is full so I could not send you a PM. I need that peep size and your USPS mailing address and then I'll ship these tomorrow!
-
Since I may or may not have given a bad hint on the broadhead weight I will run this same giveaway tomorrow afternoon. That way all the same folks that may have been messed up by my hint can have another chance. It will likely be another Whackmaster question though :o
-
Thanks for the opportunity Radsav. Unfortunately I just started bow hunting last year and don't know much but it was fun guessing haha. Used Savora last year and with the outcome I don't plan on switching anytime soon. Thanks for a quality efficient product! Good work

Dang, contender was my first guess. Should a stuck with it.

Lookout game animals, I'm playing with house money now!
Thanks Bryan!

I will have at least one more for the night crew coming shortly. Just need to get the peep machined switched over and I'll start a 2.0 thread. Will post a link here as well.
