Title: Looking for a Lab Puppy...(edit...got one :)
Post by: NOCK NOCK on July 28, 2015, 11:44:43 AM
In the process of looking for a Black lab female pup. If any one knows of litters that are, or soon to be available, please let me know. Not interested in the high dollar breeder ones, looking to spend $500 max.

Thanks

There are hunt tests in carnation at peppers this weekend and next. Andy Fontenot, Doug Shade, Butch Higgins and the Van De Brake's are all registered to run next weekend in the AKC Hunt Test. Also I think the Meyer's of Rocking M Labs and Lee Salmon of Wind River Labs will be there. Good place to start to get solid recomendations on up coming litters or kennels to get a dog from and get to watch a bunch of dogs from different kennels and breedings.

I'm having pups with my uncles choclate lab. My male is awesome hunter with super strong drive to retrieve. Good looking too with blocky head and athletic build. I get pick of the litter when pups are born which is what I'm selling.

Always good to go to Entry Express and check the success rates of the people and the dogs you are researching. I think you have to sign up but, it's free and I can assure you they won't abuse your information.

https://www.entryexpress.net/loggedIn/default.aspx

Use the search function then, it's easiest to start with last names. That will pull up all the dogs they've run and their pass/fail status from 2005 to current. If you see years of failing JH and SH you might want to consider a different breeding or trainer (whatever you are in the market for)

All of these breeder's puppies will cost more than $500. I know you said that is the max you wanted to spend but you are not just paying for the pedigree. You are paying for health certificates and a guarantee that your pup will be healthy. If the pup does not come with at least a 26 month health guarantee than I would not buy it. One trip to the vet will make up the difference. And this happens a lot. Good luck in your search. Not trying to be a debi downer, I just wanted to throw some stuff out there.

I believe there is a listing for labs in your price range on the Pacific Northwest Pheasant Hunters facebook page.

Did you get in touch with Duckslayer?  We are picking ours up shortly and they had several blacks last time I was down there.

I think these folks had a little blackie from a litter that I saw posted a few days ago on a page different than their FB page.
