First time I have ever filled my catchcard! Have also gotten friends and family on another 30+ fish.
And today, caught a 24", 7 pound sockeye.
Bringing some friends from NoCal out tomorrow, 16 fish, here we come.

Salt sockeye is on my bucket list. Care to share on what gear? Nice job!

Green/silver coho killer 40" behind a Q-cove break-away flasher, green. Down at 40'. He was with the pinks as we doubled on a pink at the same time. Trolling with current at about 2 mph SOWater, just west of Eagle Point.
Only my second one out here through the years.
-
He probably won't be very good eating. ;)

I know, I know....
Took some friends out today, neither she nor her son had salmon fished before. Limited for four of us including two more SOCKEYE!!!! :IBCOOL:
A sinkful of filets, 22 pounds of pink and 6 1/2 pounds of sockeye.
Caught the bigger sockeye on a pink mini hoochie and small white dodger 45 feet behind the boat. The other was on a green/silver coho killer at 120 on the downrigger. She was reeling in a tiny king and we saw a huge sockeye (pretty sure) follow it right up to the boat with its mouth open... another ten feet away and I think it would have grabbed the little king.

Awesome! great eats ;)

Thanks, just lucky, though I did pick up two balls and an old dock tire full of styrofoam on the way out there. Could it be fish karma? :chuckle:

They make sense if you think it through. The Chinook, is the King of the salmon as they get the largest; Coho, well, they are just bright and silvery I guess; Sockeye turn red when in the rivers hence the name Red; Pinks are tasty and pink meated in the salt but get all Humpy and gray when they hit the rivers (you will never hear me call one from the salt a humpy); and Chum are only good enough for Dog food (I like them smoked), hence the name Dog salmon, could also be because their jaw starts looking like a dog's mouth, but others do too. Blackmouth are resident Chinook, different from the ones that head out to the open ocean. Tyees, well, just huge Chinook I guess, no idea where that comes from but someone will know.

Update! Here's a photo summary of fishing Saturday, Monday, and Tuesday. Got two sockeye Saturday, three and five pounds and one king, fifteen pounds on Monday. I caught one of each yesterday, nine pound king and six pound sockeye. The funny thing was that I only reeled in three fish, allowing my visitors to catch most, but two of my three were not pinks. 8)

Monday and Tuesday's.

Loki.......You have to be the most hospitable guy I've ever seen. Way to go dude.

That's why I call them Pinks, they're not humpies until they slime their way in to the fresh water. :chuckle: The big males have started to hump a little but still nice pink meat and bright sides. The smoker has been going almost non-stop since last week.

You are a stud man.

Wow. You eat well!
Awesome!

True! I showed my wife your photos and she politely said if I were half as successful as you she wouldn't mind me fishing all the time... so I politely put an ad of a SeaSwirl Striper in front of her and said "deal"... I am still waiting for the confirmation haha.
If you ever have room and need gas money, let me know. I would be more than happy to tag along :)

Sunday, fishing wasn't so good but had good weather and great company with Weathergirl, OutdoorsJen, and Elkboy and his significant other.
-
Yesterday was a better fishing day, went back to Eagle Point and got four limits, no 'bonus' fish today though. Two of my crew caught their first salmon. Lots of boats for a mid-week day.
-
Great to see positive reports flowing in. Engine troubles kept me bank bound over the weekend but for an hour or so at obstruction. Saw a pink jump but didn't hook anything. Looks like you're totally dialed in!
-
Well done Loki! Love that you're getting newbies into the fish, they will think this salmon fishing thing is easy!
I'll be out there for five days starting Wednesday, can't wait. Hopefully there will be some additional "bonus" fish around by then.
-
Thats great news. That means there are still plenty of fish headed our way! I just want some good action for S4S.
-
Awesome! Love seeing the success and reading about the great stories!
-
Cool. Nice job.

A few more neighbors got out with me. Last Wed I took my next door neighbor, I think she hasn't fished for many years. We limited on pinks with one take home King at 16 pounds. Lost another really nice king to a lurking Stellers Sea Lion that swam over when he saw us reeling in. I ended up fighting him for about 5 minutes after taking the rod, biggest thing I've ever had on, that was alive.
Oh yeah, last picture is of the horrific water conditions on our way out during a Small Craft Advisory... say what?? Glad I didn't buy it. :chuckle:
-
Looks like a great day on the water. Nice king!
-
You were brave to run in that rough of water during that small craft advisory. :chuckle:

Fished a bit Moday off Cypress, got one keeper pink and lost a nice King at the boat. Fished again this morning since I had to go to town. Released a short king, about 18 inches, and several really small fish. We landed a large trout-sized pink and a 21 1/2 incher that my son got all by himself with me netting. Usually I hand him the rod but he saw this one hit and did the rest himself.
-
Tell the young man nicely done!
-
Nice work!
-
That kid has the makings of a fine salmon fisherman.
-
Not much of a fish for today, one very small pink. However, it was salmon #52 for the season and filled my second card. Probably the last salmon fishing for a while with hunting seasons upon us.

You have been successful! Congrats! Thanks for keeping us posted and updated with the photos and write ups!

Congratulations! Sounds like you had a lot of fun

Thanks, and we'll eat well for the next year, or two, since I can't seem to do very well on the winter blackmouth....
