Been a long time for us, but now we will be back to crabbing, and fishing. Picked up a 16 foot bay runner with a 40 horse Yamaha on it.
Now to complete the boater cert online.
Any suggestions on a close to launch crabbing trip in the salt for next week. I'm confident the boat will be fine, and we plan on taking it to lake Stevens first. It's like starting over after to years without a boat.
Forgot a pic.

Don't forget the plug :yike:
Congrats.

. Haha! Thanks.

Congrats. Good idea going to a lake to iron out the kinks. I like to go to flowing lake.

Remember what they say. The best two days in a boat owners life is the day they buy their boat and the day they sell it ;) I know nothing about crabbing in the sound but spent plenty of years in the S sound chasing the almost non existant salmon. Congrats on your new vessel sir!

only takes minutes...Use two monitors and you can have the study guide on one page and the test on the other screen

everett is easy to launch from...
Head south and drop pots in 40-60 feet of water wherever you see other pots, but give them some room.
-
Awesome boat! Just in time for crab & salmon season. Another good launch is at Kayak Pt. Good crabbing all around. Enjoy!

Boat is the first expense, then the nickel and dimming comes along for all the additional gear you may need or think you have to have. Gets me in trouble constantly. :o

Stay to the left of the yellow can. Turn right past the jetty and you will be sitting there for a while

Looks very nice. Congrats on your boat!

Good times
16ft with a 40 should get up and scoot.
-
Nice boat sled.
If you take a run up to Camano State park there's some easy spots for crabbing in both directions or across the channel near Seal Island and Greenbank farm on Whidbey.
I like Hat Island off Everett and set a few near Mukilteo yesterday.

Looks like a nice clean boat. Always liked the look of the Sea runners.

We took the boat out to Lake Stevens tonight. Performed flawless! Can't wait to get after some crabs this week!😋

How do you secure all your gear in your boat with it like that? :chuckle: :IBCOOL:
Congrats on the boat, Ive been working along time to get my jon boat to where I want it. Last thing on my list is a trailer to haul it around on.

Congrats. Those are nice boats. I had a 16' Bay Runner with a 25 horse Suzuki on it and it was perfect for crabbing and salmon fishing on reasonably calm days.
One thing I learned about the Bay Runner is that the really deep V on the front of the boat acts like a rudder and can throw you around quite a bit. One time a wake from another boat was quartering too me as I was heading out to the fishing grounds. The front of the Bay Runner grabbed that wake and spun the boat around faster that you would believe. Mostly my fault for not realizing that this could happen, but also something that I had never ever experienced in heavier fiberglass boats. I think the combination of extremely light weight and a very deep V make this possible.
We have since sold that boat and are likely going to get something with a windshield and canvas so the wife and 2 daughters will be more likely to come out with me then!
