I recently purchased a 280 AI mountain ascent. I am wondering if anyone has a load using the 140 accubonds out of this gun. I shot some nosler trophy grade 150s today mainly to break the barrel in and save up some brass. Coulda been me, the wind, the ammo, or a combo of all 3 but the kimber didn't seem to like the 150 accubonds.

I. Can get you a load for 140 Berger's if your interested ?
-
I'd try the nosler 140 accubonds. I'm running the 150 lrabs in my cooper

What scope did you put on the gun? I have a mountain ascent in a .308

If I have time today I will try to dig through my old load work up data. I have a load with 140 NABs that my rifle, though not a Kimber, liked pretty well.

I have a Kimber Montana in 280AI. The barrel dynamics will be different on the Ascent but this should get you in the ballpark.
140AB
62.5 grains H4831SC
Nosler Brass
Federal Large Rifle Primer
COAL 3.344
Avg Velocity=3014 fps
ES=1, yes 1
0.56 MOA at 100 yards
I'd like, but don't need, more velocity so plan to keep working up on this formula after hunting season to see if I can jump to the next accuracy node. I did a barrel timing analysis with quickload and not sure I can get to the next node without exceeding case capacity with the particular lot of powder I'm using (slow burn rate I suspect).
Anyhow, this gives you a starting point. Of course, start short of this and work up as the powder you use may have a faster burn rate than my lot.

Thanks for the good info fellas. I appreciate it.

I put a Leupold VX-3 4.5-14x40mm on it
-
Cool ya I did the same VX-3 but a 3.5-10 power.

If you have the itch to try some heavy bullets both these loads shoot under 2 inches 5 shot groups @ 500 yards for me out of a 28 inch barrel
162 Amax
59.5 H4831sc
CCI BR2
2950 fps
180 Berger Vld
56.5 4831sc
2790 fps
disclaimer all rifles are different work up and be safe

Haven't tried any 140s. Mine is liking the 150ttsx and 145lrx with imr4350

Different gun and different barrel, but out of a carbon wrapped bartlein 25" tube, mine likes around 60 grains of h4831hc with a berger 168 hvld in the lands.. With the 140 grain Bergers shooting lights out with my fireform loads but waiting on a scope repair to work a load up. 168 grain berger group
