Just seeing what you all like/dislike
I've tried quite a few and some worked well for me some not so much
I really like all I've tried from Hammer Nutrition , Gels, pre and post hike supplement
GU gel seem to work ok for me too but don't care for the taste much( esspresso love is good)
I like the Stinger gummy for flavor but don't get much Out of them but shot blocks work good
I use for in between meals,if I'm pooped or know I'm going to pull hard 1000+ ft in short distance and a recovery mix on the way home ( seems to really help if you over did it )
I'm still leading how/when to use them 😉
Tell us what you like !

All I've been using is Pure Pure Protein bars and Wilderness Athlete Electrolyte replacement... The Pure Protien bars have less sugar, so IMO I feel like I don't crash. But I'll be watching the thread to hear some other options.

The Pure Protein bars are alright. You can get a mega pack pretty cheap at Costco. But they say on the label--might have a laxative effect....but think that is for eating more than like two or three a day.

Advocare Spark. There's is absolutely nothing like it. I have it every morning instead of coffee. It's a drink mix though so you would need like a Gatorade bottle of water. Citrus is the best flavor. Seriously though. It's the best. Or you can get a rehydrate by advocare.

Blaze or enduro from MTN OPS. I really like them. They work and I don't get jittery.

Are you a rep?

I like to keep a homemade mixture of granola in my pocket, easily accessible. A sandwich bag of it will last a day. I take a couple of pulls on it throughout the day between breakfast/lunch and after Lunch. If my wife hasn't made it for me a Cliff Bar can be substituted, I eat a bite or two and put it back in my pocket, it lasts a day between meals. The goo's and gells and junk just don't last long, you might as well have a couple of Starburst's in your pocket.
A lesson I have learned is when I have an animal down or am about to stalk an animal I will eat a bunch of that mix right before, even if I am not hungry, I will eat a bunch of it. Doing this the last couple of times I had an animal down and have packed it out on my back boned out, I have had way more energy and felt better then doing it on an empty stomach.

I like the pure protein bars, Kind bars and CaveMan bars (all available at Costco). Also use the Mountain Ops Blaze and Enduro trail packs. But when I want a serious surge I make a quick wrap using dried blueberries or cranberries and packet of Justin's almond butter with honey. Eat one of those and climb on.

I was mixing mtn ops yeti and enduro and liking it a lot. Felt great up in the hills. I havnt tried any of their other stuff and I havnt tried wilderness athlete yet but I've heard great things about them.

:yeah: I love and swear by this product. I swear it really is the best. I got a friend hooked on it to and he calls it "Jesus juice!" :chuckle: Seriously though it is the best by leaps and bounds. If you don't try it it's your loss. Anyone who has ever tried it knows it's the REAL DEAL!

Agreed. Even freaking Drew Brees uses it as well as alot of other pro athletes.

Bang! energy drink and a protein bar for breakfast every morning. More energy from 7am - 3pm than anything I've ever tried before. Red cans seem to have better energy for me but the lemon drop tastes better. Blue are nasty, champagne are worse and the red, white, and blue are ok.
-
Also you can take an Advocare night time recovery before you go to bed and it will help you sleep easier and help with soreness and cramps.
-
Advocare is good, but the price is horrendous. Any supplement with 3-5g of BCAA's and 150-200mg of caffeine will perk you up and fuel your muscles. For recovery at night take another 3-5g BCAA's and 5g glutamine mixed in with a Gatorade or Gatorade powder. Combined with a daily vitamin you'll be good to go and avoid cramping reduce muscle fatigue. All of which can be found on bodybuilding.com for super cheap.

Katadyn hiker pro + 2 Nalgene bottles and a fist full of zippfizz are in my pack. I stay well hydrated and jitter free.
got tired of the bladders and tubes
Also I gotta eat fiber so I'll eat oat bars of some sort with the cheese and meat.

V8 is pretty good actually. And then there are those old people drinks--Insure?--small cans with lots of vitamins. Drink that stuff before going to sleep and wake up great. The guy that turned me on to the Insure, said from his experience being a bar/club/party monster, that he didn't start waking up hangover free ready for duty after a night of heavy drinking until using those. :dunno:

am a spark fan. do want to look into the rehydrate stuff. cant have spark at nite cuz of the caffeine. also use dliff bars cuz they don't melt And they taste good. mike w
