Title: Hips brand archery targets - something's fishy
Post by: Band on August 17, 2015, 02:30:50 PM
I'm shopping for a new broadhead target and was impressed with the reviews of the 3 different Hips brand targets on Amazon at this link - http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_in_-2_p_89_27?fst=as%3Aoff&rh=n%3A3375251%2Cn%3A10971181011%2Cn%3A706813011%2Cn%3A3395321%2Cn%3A3395671%2Ck%3AArchery+target%2Cp_72%3A1248957011%2Cp_89%3AHips+Archery+Targets&bbn=3395671&keywords=Archery+target&ie=UTF8&qid=1439846034&rnid=2528832011 (http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_in_-2_p_89_27?fst=as%3Aoff&rh=n%3A3375251%2Cn%3A10971181011%2Cn%3A706813011%2Cn%3A3395321%2Cn%3A3395671%2Ck%3AArchery+target%2Cp_72%3A1248957011%2Cp_89%3AHips+Archery+Targets&bbn=3395671&keywords=Archery+target&ie=UTF8&qid=1439846034&rnid=2528832011).  And then I noticed that most of the really great reviews came from people who did not meet the "verified purchase" list.  The few verified purchasers generally gave poor reviews.  I also noticed that the non-verified reviewers are using only a first name or a full name including a middle initial, which seems strange.  Something tells me the people who are manufacturing or selling these targets may be posing as customers to sell product.  What do you think?  Anyone ever tried one of these targets and care to comment? :dunno:

This is also the first time I've ever noticed a lot of reviews of a product from non-verified purchasers.  I'm really, really suspicious!

good eye.  also note how many positive posts were posted on the same day (june 22).

amazon is usually pretty good about sh!tcanning b.s. reviews, but it takes time and flagging.

Didn't notice that but that's definitely the final nail in the coffin for me!  Unbelievable. :P

I don't know anything about hips, but the best broad head target i have used is the rhinehart 18 in 1. Camofire has had them on sale this week.

I'd like to check out the price but I can't find a "search" button anywhere on that site.  How in the heck are you supposed to find anything? :o

Roll your cursor over the item and click on it and it will take you to a more detailed description of the item.

Tried again and found that you have to hit the "forum" link in order to a page that shows the target in question.  Weird. :dunno:

You have to check back periodically they will have different items for sale, rhinehart targets have popped up several times in the last couple weeks. If you need a new broad head target right away it is probably best just going to sportsmen warehouse. They normally sell for around 120 or so dollars.

x2 on the Rhinehart targets.

Did pick up a Black hole at Dicks this week.  20.00 after 10.00 rebate.
Won't last like a Rhinehart- and once they start blowing through- forget it.
But cheap camp target...... works
