Is WSTA going to have a booth at the Puyallup fair this year?

You bet. I'll be calling you soon. Anyone wants to help out in the booth I'm making up the schedule now. New people are usually a little apprehensive but after they have did it once, a lot find a day at the fair booth enjoyable.
Let me know if you are interested. I'm especially looking for new people to pair up with veterans.

Looking forward to it again this year!

If anyone has ever thought they would like to participate at our booth but are hesitant, let me reassure you that it is a great experience.

The interaction with people is sometimes very comical and amazing at the same time. To talk with people who had no idea there are still trappers in this state is impressive. The kids sprint to the booth to run their hands through the furs and I have it on good authority that Bruce has put together a display allowing for a photo opportunity as well.

Should be another good year and if anyone was so inclined the help would not be turned away!

It is in the North west Outdoors building on the east side of the Fairgrounds. It is near the south end of the overhead tram.
Been there the last two days and getting home at midnight. Long days  but a few days off now.

We just got home from the fair.  We were running the trapper booth today. It was nothing like I had pictured in my head. I thought we would be dealing with crazy wolf lovers, and peda people. We had only 2 people that might fit that description, but were very nice anyways. I couldn't believe how many people thought trapping was illegal. The booth was one of the most popular in the building. We trapped dozens of kids, and a few grandma's in the kid live trap, baited with taffey, and red licorice.  :chuckle:
Alot of people asking how, or who could take care of their coon, beaver problems. We had fun today, and will do it again next year.

If still looking for people to help man the booth I might be able to help out. I just took the test last weekend, so I might not be much use. :)

Same for me yesterday.  I got the word out on trapping to those who didn't know much about it, had fun nicely telling a couple of hipsters that fur was "organic, free-range, sustainable and not made from petroleum products" and caught a 25 year-old blond woman in the kiddie trap (she was so embarrassed I had to let her out before I could get a picture). I think that is the record catch. I'm manning the booth again next week.

Yep it is a lot of fun.  I ran it back in the 90's for eight years and have worked the booth every year since 1984.
Oh, the stories I can tell you, but than again this is a family forum  :chuckle:
If you guys are scheduled to attend, your going to have a lot of fun.

You know I think these shows on TV like; Mountain men, Port Protection,  live free or die, life below zero, ice Rebels, all help make people aware of trapping in a good light.  Our membership for WSTA is growing every month.

What do you guys and gals think about these shows helping keep trapping alive.  I don't think there hurting us.

I would love to see these popular trapping related shows educate people on trapping and how we are loosing this heritage to voters
