I've seen several of these types of awful looking injuries including a couple where carbon arrows appeared to have shattered. It makes me wonder about my own arrows and their integrity after being struck in tight groups. I generally pick out a different dot on my target when shooting out to 30 yards. When I go to 40 I'm shooting to the center and sometimes arrows hit each other.
Short of obviously visible cracks, are these arrows at a significant risk for blowing up on me?
Arrow and draw length is good. No danger of over drawing past the rest. I never want a picture of an exploded carbon arrow buried in my hand :yike:

Gotcha. It just looked like he had some kind of harness in the picture so I just made the assumption. Interested to hear what went down.

This is entirely a different situation.  Look at the pictures again, it is his foot.  He must have slipped and jammed it into his ankle.

yikes  :yike: I hope he isn't out for the season but that doesn't look like a good spot to have a broadhead slicing through. Just curious would he have been holding arrow in his draw had or had it knocked but not back?

Should have been using a mechanical, 50 50 chance it wouldn't have opened. Those fixed blades sure do leave good entry holes...every time.

Hope he heals up fine!

Agreed that is is entirely different. It's just seeing this reminded me of previous pictures posted showing arrows through hands, some of them shattered. Made wonder you know. I'd rather be safe then sorry.

This looks to me like he was walking in front of someone who had an arrow knocked. Not sure how you get an arrow in the back of you calf/ankle otherwise. But i'm sure that hurt a lot!!! Ouch...
