Update:

Just caught one small pink. Saw a fly fisherman land a nice coho off the beach. Saw a couple other fish caught, but not much.

Post by: pilebuck on September 06, 2015, 11:04:08 AM: Nice reports I was out Friday am got two very good takedowns lost them fishing west side of possession bar then all of sudden all My electronics went out GPS radio dead.So I headed in around 9 just as I was into fish it was a cold morning was way underdressed loll the fish cops were at the boat launch in Everett hitting everyone going out a few people had to pull out their boats must of not had all their safety gear idk getting back out Tues good luck everyone :tup:

Four of us fished three rods this am and I don't think we went more than five minutes at any one time without a fish. It was nuts. No way we could get a fourth rod out. But bigger fish were few and far between, vast majority were 4-5 lbs. At one point my 6 y.o. kid put his orange peel on a hook and dropped it back in the wake. Sure enough, had a fish come right up and take a sniff with his dorsal out of the water before deciding something wasn't quite right.

Post by: hunt_fish on September 08, 2015, 07:30:31 AM: Did well across at apple tree cove last weekend. Pretty rough with the winds all the days we fished though. We tried up at possession early on Saturday but only caught one coho so went back to apple tree and caught some. Limited out on coho in less than two hours Sunday. Cutplug herring was the winner. Brads cutplug had a couple but too many smaller fish and kings being caught on it and caught one or two on green ace hifly. We threw back the smaller 16-18 inch coho and keeping the larger ones.

Post by: pilebuck on September 09, 2015, 03:03:53 PM: Bad morning launched at Everett around 7:30 got out started trolling with my older daughter she never fished downriggers before so I put hers down got it set went to get mine out and no release have no idea where it went :dunno:So I wanted to see her get a fish she got on hit but no stick put her back out and my cable broke and took my release with the ball darn it well we were done before it began ....So another 30 bucks and put new cable on.... So all good to go out again tomorrow..... Hope others went out and let us know a good report :tup: :tup: I know hunting season for alot of people now not fishing I will be out in October and put the boat to sleep for the winter ....

Those are some great looking fish, what did the heaviest weigh?. I have never caught a salmon that big.

We did hook up 2 blkmouth,and released.did not see any net's go up. at the ship wreck. got checked and she said slow today. most fishing south around apple and possession were better.used coho killer and green hootchie,behind uv flasher.No fish finder as it broke.

Thanks. There's some long arming effect in that photo, but that fish in front is right at 10 lbs. Some of those others in the back are 7-8 lbs, the small ones are 4-5 lbs.

Go to slip point where the buoy is, head straight out to deeper water in 250-300 foot of water, set lines in water and limit in 2 hours or less. You won't have trouble, especially with the wild retention this weekend. If you find bait, focus on that area.

using cohokiller cookies and cream,couple blkmouth shackers that got tossed back, one was 7 lb's.motormouching. tried 75-95-105-etc

Going out in the morning tides suck this week using Greene spatter back and a red racer with the herring strip see what happens :tup:

Post by: FWilliams on September 11, 2015, 06:43:40 AM: Everett launch will be a zoo, it is a better launch than the Edmonds sling and they will have an official weigh in station for the Edmonds derby there, with the huge traffic in and out of Everett its still a better option for the derby guys than Edmonds.

I have switched over to green and white spoons, coyote, coho killer etc. and quit using the herring strip /squid. not getting the shakers or the kings like we were. still limiting fairly easy, 4 fish in a couple hours is the norm. Still running 3-5 pounds tho, had one that went eight.

I dove in that wreck years ago and had one heck of a face to face interaction with a GIANT cod. I still cant believe they have mouths that are big enough to swallow your head. Was the only fish that i saw that was bigger than a perch. Good luck all!

The 'shipwreck' is north of Edmonds, closer to Mukilteo, it's a ship skeleton on the beach.

I'll be out there tomorrow for the Derby with my kid. We'll start around Edmonds and head north from there, probably towards west Possession. Looking forward to it!

Things were real slow out at shipwreck. Didnt see one person hook up. We had 4 or 5 real strikes but never even got a fish to the boat. I think my good luck has ran dry.

If you dove this one you wouldn't be needing any air. The small wrecks in the Edmonds dive park do have some MONSTER ling cod though.

Yeah, I used to launch at Kayak, so Everett is a dream. I just don't want to run out of parking so we'll hit it real early and run in the dark like a bunch of fish ninjas.

Not much out there today. We hit a few fish, but nothing over four lbs. even the pink we got was tiny. Anybody catch a derby worthy fish?

Then the lights went out couldn't get another bite...... Wish I could of hung one more for a worthy derby winner :tup:but came home with fish

that is sad but that is gutted. tons of fish at sekiu still coming so don't give up on it

The winner was a small fish hopefully the Everett derby there will be a little bigger fish we will see goose luck everyone :tup:

Try going deeper, I saw and hooked one about 110' at 11 am last weekend.

The weather is looking better, forecast was looking a bit ugly. Hopefully the wind will stay down.

haha, its never a waste of time when your chasing critters, my fishing is going to wind down as I start loading up for hunting season , I have multiple states to hunt this year and gonna be a busy fall. good luck on the elk.

We fished MA7 to avoid the derby traffic and didn't fare much better. One stud of a wild fish caught and released before the low this morning, and nothing but shakers until we decided to call it quits. It was nice to see a larger fish, the ones we caught last weekend were all little runts.

Was trolling about 30 feet down in about 60 feet of water and in the process of pulling up gear to move to another spot because it was so slow and wasn't seeing much on the fish finder lol. I made a telescoping net out of an old handle and another net I had, works great! The problem is that it is hard to tell if a fish is one that has to be released (remember the no bringing into the boat rule if being released... :rolleyes: ) while it is at telescope distance and they often need to be brought in closer, then the long handle is just in the way.

Post by: pilebuck on September 29, 2015, 08:57:19 AM: I use number 5 hooks big river they are the best I have ever used..... and when I have people with a fish on especially the little coho we have now to just keep reeling set the drag tight and don't stop reeling and when they get close I have a long handle net and swoop them in seems to work great because alot of people like to stop reeling and look at the fish when it gets close to the boat and that's when they get off..just the way I do it and I don't loose many that way :tup:

coho killer's have been working ok,cop car,3.5. and all white. Tan and white 82 bayliner 17ft. usually by myself!

Been hearing the salt has slowed down. Rivers are pretty dead from my observations, from talking to other anglers, and from talking to wdfw staff. It's the middle of October, what happened?
