Hey, just moved to pullman to finish up my school, and would love to get out after some dogs. I am not familiar with the area much, and was wondering if anybody wanted to get together on a weekend or something to hunt some coyotes/scout for after big game.
I used to live on the wetside, but have done a fair amount of waterfowl hunting in the Sprague/4th of july lake area for the last 8 or so years. I was thinking of starting there, but you have such limited views, and it's about an hour and a half away. I am sure the Palouse area holds em up, but I'm struggling to find some huntable land.
I have a truck, nice rifle, and a lanyard full of calls, just missing the location.
thanks in advance!
Go Cougs!

I don't know anything about that area but I strongly recommend huntinggpsmaps.com I never have to wonder about hunting areas again!

talk to farmers..alot will let you shoot them..may have to wait till after deer season
-
Went out today, talked to some farmers. Got permission to hunt 13,000 acres for coyotes. Pretty good start if you ask me...

I'm fairly new to hunting coyotes, I have an e caller and a decoy, I got the college in Moses lake. I'd hunt with ya if you're looking for a hunting buddy to chase yotes with.
-
There are yotes everywhere there. You shouldn't have much trouble finding somewhere to hunt. Private land, the breaks, etc.
-
I'd be down to meet up sometime Bennick.
And what are the breaks?
-
Sounds good. I can make myself available whenever.
-
Hahaha the breaks are a gunters dreams and nightmares! We saw about a hundred coyotes in the breaks last weekend!

Breaks=canyons and draws falling down into Snake river

I'd go out with you, but probably not going anytime soon. Most likely won't start until Coyote Madness starts. I live in Albion and work at WSU. Plenty of coyotes down by the Snake River also. Lot's of Army Corp of Engineer land to hunt but some are shotgun only.
-
Ah, I went down to the snake river to explore during my first week here. Headed towards Idaho. Saw lots of little "fingers" "ravines" "gullies" things along the road. Most were on the other side though. Did see one public hunt area on our side that was called like the Washington state bird Trail or something. Thanks for the pointers guys! I'll have to actually go along the breaks and bring a gun!
-
Did you stop by Nisqually John Canyon? It's a Army Corp HMU about 3000 acres. It's just past the Blyton boat launch on the left hand side going towards Clarkston on Wawawai road. As I was typing this, I looked up the Washington State bird trail and one is in Nisqually John Canyon. So looks like you found it. :tung:

Sweet, thanks for the help edwardo. Would that be one of those shotgun restricted areas?

Nope, the shotgun areas I know of are on the other side of the dam and towards Central Ferry.

Tge property i hunt deer on out by Colfax is lousy with coyotes, saw 5 in one draw opening morning. I plan on doing some serious predator control there in the next few months. I live in Pullman, shoot me a PM if you are interested in helping me kill a few of them.
-
There are some wolves in that area now. Be careful.
-
There are more coyotes this year in the Palouse than I've ever seen. Should be no trouble getting some furs!

Every year it seems like there is more. I saw atleast 1 every day I hunted deer and saw them everyday I scouted. They are taking over.

I'll totally take you up on that offer. Been kinda busy with waterfowl as of late, but I'll try to get my rifle re sighted in here soon and get together with ya.
