I am curious to know if any of you would take the time to drop your coyotes off if there was a local guy (me) to take it in. I am in the Tri-Cities and probably wouldn't drive too far to pick up yotes.
If you live or hunt in the Tri-Cities area would you make arrangements to drop off your coyotes at a fur dealer?

Hard to say as there are so many variables such as, time of year (primeness is a big factor) size, colors and how big a hole(s) were put in it. Then there is the market prediction to deal with. Basically after I skin, clean, flesh, board, dry and ship I won’t know what my return is until after the auction. A big gamble if I am over paying just to get the fur in the first place. Most coyotes in Eastern Washington will grade at Western Semi-Heavy and they do not command a bunch of money.
I realize my rambling hasn’t answered your question but I would need to do more research on that part of it, IF I feel there is enough interest among the coyote hunters to make it worth the effort in the first place.
If I had to guess, I would say a $5 to $10 dollar average would be close, obviously depending on many of the variables described above. You may have an exceptional coyote that goes higher than $10 or a pup that’s shot to pieces that I wouldn’t pay for.
This may be a moot point if someone is aware of another fur handler in the area anyway. I know several of my fellow trappers in the area but I don’t know anyone else taking in furs.

I've sold them in the past. Would be willing to sell locally. I understand markets and such.... Fact is I won't bother selling a coyote if it's not worth $12-20. That seems to be the range for me personally.

Not sure what George offers. It would be a long drive to have him look at one :chuckle:
I wouldn't want one in the round. If the hunter skinned them, correctly, then they would have to be as close to NAFA guidelines as possibly. Coyote get case skinned.
Bottom line is the price depends on the animal but with the last few year auction averages and knowing how much time goes into prepping fur, I don't think I could get to the $12 - $20 average. That's just not worth all the work that goes into doing it right.
Coyote prices are still strong. They sold 100% of what was offered at the late June sale. Western Semi Heavy averaged $39.15.
Maybe it was a silly ideal but my thought was that there are a lot of coyote hunters in the area and I doubt there are a lot of guys that are eating there animals, so why not drop three or four off and get a $20 bill for having fun, doing something they would be doing with or with out me.
