I got an Idaho tag this year and was out this weekend. Everything went perfect until the arrow left the bow. We stopped the truck and let is sit for about 15 minutes. Just as I was about to let out a cow call I heard a bugle. It took us about half hour but we moved in on it and got right inside the herd. Few cow calls from my Phelps call and he was coming in on a string. He was setting up for a 20 yard shot when a cow came running out of nowhere and spooked him back. He held at 40 and that was the only real chance I was going to get. I shot and watched the arrow fly perfectly and right under his vitals. My range finder must have picked up a stick that was a bit closer and it was just enough to make the shot go low.
We got back on him again and had him at 25 yards but I had a big tree in my way. He was walking right to me and I think I would have had a 10 yard shot but a little calf ran out ahead of him and caught the tail end of my draw and spooked. The bull turned and walked away. No shot was presented.
It was a fun hunt. Just wish it would have worked out a little better. To top it off the Seahawks lost. Yesterday was not the best of days. LOL
