I was at a place last week and had a ton of grouse there. Wondering if they stick around ?
-
Was it on the east side with water easily available?
-
Yes, completely. Wind will decide on where they hang in the territory from my experience.

Bird populations done well this spring ...there has been a crap load shot around my place ..better getcha some ....Nothing better than grouse breast for din din !!

I have places that I can expect to see a grouse just about every time.
I thought you ment are they like confrontational. I had one attacking my truck as I drove by slowly. I thought he accidently flew into my side window the first time, but when I came back by he did it again. He bounced off my drivers side window, and than was flying along tapping on my back window. I was only creeping along at like 2mph. I never had one do that before :chuckle:

Ruffed grouse will start dispersing in October and then bunch up again in late November/December. Blues will go higher I believe as we get closer to winter.

Grouse all day every day so far at the wallow im hunting, plenty of them, guess still water is a magnet for them. Got one that is really fond of a log thats 15 yards from my living room window too. Thought about shooting him for a half a second, but nah.
