Hey guys sorry if this is the wrong section but I have a small problem on my hands. I found the back door to my shop/mother in law house chewed through living a huge hole and tons of pieces of wood and whatnot laying around. Is it possible that a coyote did this trying to get in? I keep my GFs dog in there so I'm thinking something was trying to get at him. I've seen coyotes in my backyard from time to time so I know they are there. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

That right there is the work of a juvenile Sasquatch. You can tell by the amount of whatnot it left.
-
Porcupine?
-
I can't imagine a coyote doing that. Maybe a neighbor's dog? :dunno:
-
I live in the woodinville area.....so I'm pretty sure there is no porcupines around. Could be another dog but the coyote has been snooping around my back yard and I spotted it about 30-40 feet from the scene of the crime today

Is the GF dog in heat?
Males will do anything to get to a female in heat. :chuckle:
-
Eastern gray squirrel or rat trying to get in to make a winter nest.
-
Wouldn't a rat or squirrel be scared off by the sound of a small pit bull barking? My girls dog is 9 years old...not sure if she is in heat or not

it's not a dog or any K9, they would paw and dig at the door and you'd see lot's of scratches above the hole.
Unless the dog was trying to get out, what's the backside of the door look like? Or was the GF's dog in a kennel? or roaming free in the shop?
-
raccoons maybe
-
The dog was roaming free and was whining when I got home so it's definitely possible that she was trying to get out. But I'm confused because I didn't seen any paw prints on either side. The backside is tore up as well....ill get a picture later tonight
If it's not any k9, then what kind of animal would produce the kind of holes you can see on the last pic?

Racoons, they smelt the dog food and made a plan to break in

:yeah:

It almost looks as though the meth zombie started with a 12 guage blast but then realized the one shell he had was not going to be enough so he went to chewing but , due to only having 4 teeth spaced evenly throughout his mouth, gave up before he could skinny his way in, close call for sure!

This would be my guess. Look to see if paint chips are inside, that would indicate chunks pulled inside and then spit out.

Well check the dogs gums and teeth.
-
I seen a husky chew his way threw a door trying to get out. He came back 3 days later all proud of him self

Pack Rat...
They do chew through stuff like that, at the cabin we had to screw thin expanded metal over spots they were chewing to keep them out. Cheapest fix I could think of
-
Not a rat or squirrels to big of a hole.Willing to put money on its a coon I've trapped many a one doing that same damage on sheds, houses and such.put a trail cam up and see what it is
