Title: Pistols and revolvers, is there a difference?
Post by: TheSkyBuster on September 25, 2015, 07:59:43 PM
This poll was inspired from reading topics on here where it is obvious that some Hunt-wa members see a distinct difference between pistols, and revolvers while others do not (or just don't care).   Some feel that just like a clip or a magazine,  a pistol, and revolver are 2 different things.    Most people will agree that both are handguns, but beyond that it is very debatable. what do you think? please vote

If your undecided or don't know the difference please take this opportunity to educate yourself, here are a couple references to get you started:

Pistol, revolver, semi auto, break open, bolt action, single shots, self contained, black powder, muzzle loading, wheel lock, flint lock, percussion, pin fire, tomato's, tomatoes, potato's, potatoes.
What is the difference? They all shoot, you hold them in one hand or two hands, their all fun.
THAT's THAT!!!!!

Yes, if you are carrying a revolver concealed you are doing it wrong!   :chuckle:

Last weapon I held that was actually fed by a 'clip' was an M1 Garand.

My pistols are fed by detachable box magazines.  ;)

My revolver takes clips.

My .357 is cut for clips.   I usually carry without a clip in the gun and a full moon in my speed loader pouch.   Along with my license to carry concealed pistol in my wallet

I have a CCP...Concealed Carry Permit.
It does not limit me on maximum barrel length.
But I choose to carry a handgun.
Some of my handguns are revolvers, some are semi-auto.
For those who don't believe in proper terminology, go into Les Schwab and ask for snow wheels....Let me know how that goes.

Are you sure that you don’t have a CPL … Concealed Pistol License?

I suppose going by how the document reads it should be a LCCP = License to Carry Concealed Pistol

All pistols and revolvers are handguns.  pistols are not revolvers and the reverse. The construction and design is different the mechanism of the actions is different.

The state of Washington issues CPL concealed pistol licenses.  So if you only have a WA issued concealed carry license it is indeed called a CPL which I suppose could open the door to a giant cluster in a court of law if one wanted to get completely technical. WA is an open carry state so I would assume (possibly wrongly) that this would make arguing the use the of the word pistol in the license name a moot point seeing as we can openly carry both anyway.

carry on enjoy your argument.

Glock 18.  Very common amongst gangbangers and ne'er do wells.  Kids get them in the candy machines and at toy stores, according to reporters.

Or they buy them online or from the gun shows.
Forget about locking the little pricks up when they are arrested for the felonies they perform, plea bargin them down to a misdormeanor offense like pissing in the street or jay walking and let them slide right back out into the hood to re-affend to get plea bargined again for another misdormeanor.

Guess What? We have enough Street Pissers and Jay Walkers here in this LIBERAL STATE of Washington.

By the way Pistols are Semi Auto, and then you have to others. You can get into a real pissing match with the die hard handgun guys.

I'll take a DAO revolver any day of the week for personal defense. Love my Smith & Wesson 642 - 38 + P. Carry it ALLDAY/EVERYDAY 365.
