Title: Late Oct/early Nov bear hunting...
Post by: Vo2max on September 29, 2015, 09:12:06 PM
Father is flying in to visit and I'd like to take him into the woods to hunt. I have tagged out on deer so bear is it unless ducks are flying that is. My question is; do bear strategies change much in later Oct/early Nov? I'll be using a rifle but would love to use the stick and string if possible. Any help would be appreciated.

Erik

Yes bear very much change their habits, they will eat up to 15,000 calories a day and put on a pound or two a day in preperation for the winter. Starting late October they will eat and move alot less and preffer to eat foods located very close to their den. This period is always at a diffrent time based upon avalible food and weather conditions. For now they still should be foraging for up to 18 hours a day. Good luck to you and your father.
