Yeah, in WA. The big bull that's been running around Suncadia the last couple years.
Hit by a semi.
-
That's a bummer.

-
HOLY SMOKES :yike:
-
WOW, what an absolute shame!! That mass is amazing. We all would have loved to have that. Here's to you, you evaded us all.
-
That is too bad, what a stud. I've seen some pics of him from prior years. He is an incredible bull
-
Any other pics perhaps?
-
Hopefully he has lots of younger boys running around to carry on those genes

Pretty typical Washington Bull with weak 3rds. :tung: Bummer he's dead.
-
Doesn't look too beat up for having gone nose to grill with a semi? Amazing beast!

Dang. Saw a big bull killed on I-90 near Suncadia last weekend, was kind of hoping it was the same one and not a different one.
-
Damn... Where that rack going to end up?

2 different big bulls killed there in a week.

:yike: That thing is what you would call a Gargantuanakahunanum.. Massive...
-
What a shame! :'( Looks like he's starting to regress compared to the sheds from a couple years ago.
-
Really sucks to be the auction tag holder right now.

Not sure if that pic really does him justice. I think he looks bigger.

What did the sheds score? Just out of curiosity. What a stud he was.......
-
Just to clear up a few misconceptions about this bull first off its called the G-3 bull, I'm the one that found the sheds last year, I also have 2 others from 6 and 7 years ago same side , hes called the G-3 bull because the set I picked up had a 37" G-3, it scored 433 and 5/8, each antler scored 196 and change with a 40 " spread credit grossed 433, this new set will be scored tomorrow night, I been watching this bull for the last 5 years and have over 5000 game camera pictures that will come out in time but as of right now not sharing any other information, he was a great bull that spread his genes in the area hopefully we will see him again in his offspring, I'm sad but happy at the same time for the prospect of future generations of non-typical bulls.

Dang, where have we heard that before?
-
That's to bad what a magnificent animal !!
-
When I first saw the picture I wondered if it was a hoax. I remember a few years ago a semi taking out a whole herd of elk.
-
What a dandy, hope they do something good with the horns, maybe WDFW will get them mounted and put in the regional office, they do things like that pretty often.
-
Man howdy!
Good stuff Danderson.
-
We saw one of his off spring last year thats a real up and comer . Those bulls can grow up because there is just so much private sanctuary for them .. I'm ok with that since the gene pool benefits . amazing what can happen here in wa if a bull can grow between 7 and 10 years old . Sorry for You Dave I know you have history with him .... I hope the rmef benifits from that amazing bull. The game department allready has 7/10 huge road kill and dead heads they dont need another .
-
 Dave.
-
Wow. What an amazing animal. I remember seeing some nice Bulls up there over 20 years ago before the resort took over. Obviously those genes were carried on and then some.
-
Impressive animal!

I believe Rocky Mt Elk Foundation got the bull.
-
Yep, RMEF will end up with the antlers and the cape.
-

That's good news.
-
Holy ta Tonka! :yike: Hopefully he spread his genes far and wide!
-
This is a good average bull, I see bulls like this all the time where I hunt.
:peep:
I am glad to see the RMEF will have the antlers/cape.

I had the privilege to put my hands on this awesome animal yesterday when I caped him out for WDFW. The cape is in the freezer and the antlers are under lock and key at Oak Creek. From what I understand it will be mounted by the RMEF taxidermist in Missoula, MT and go on the RMEF elk tour in 2017 and eventually end up back here in WA sometime in 2018. I put a quick tape on him and came up with a gross score of 429 7/8 with 80" of mass. He had a spread of 38" and his trade mark left G-3 was 29" long. Most definitely not the way you want to see an animal of this caliber meet his demise.
-
So great you got to cape him Ric.... too bad it will be a few years before we'll get to see him here in WA again. He was a giant that I spent a good deal of time on trying to figure out how to get Coach into but there just wasn't a way.... I didn't know I should be trolling I-90! Sad to see him leave this way but lucky to have known he was about when he was alive.
-
Amazing animal. Private land and golf course grass can do wonders. :chuckle:
To bad he went out like that. I am glad to hear that I might someday be able to see him at a rmef function. Maybe
-
I work at suncadia and I get off around 12 am-3 am and theres a few times where i almost ran into a giant bull elk on bull frog road with my suv. The elk there get massive. Ton of big deer as well.
-
Up date on the G-3 bull I had it officially scored yesterday at 437 2/8 gross non typical, after deductions it scored 424, with over 80 inches of mass, I was fortunate to have some good friends working for the Dot the morning it was hit and killed on the interstate that called me when it got hit, I had already been through the process of working with the rocky Mountain elk foundation since they had already mounted the sheds from this bull the year before, he was a great bull that I had been watching for the last 5 years having picked up 4 of his sheds Im gonna miss him, I actually had him at 30 yards last fall during the rut, in a stair down for 5 minutes, something I will never forget.
-
amazing!
-
Hey Dave
Are they going to age your??
Good job sending him off with the straight skinny
-
Wow! Just an all out giant. Will he end up on display in Missoula?
-
I wanted to try and age him but was told that bulls of that age are almost impossible to know for sure, I do know that I have sheds from him that are old, and hes a 7 point then, not sure were hes going to be desplayed
-
Dave-
What did the sheds score? Almost looks like he's lost a little since then.
Good job showing this giant the respect he deserves!!
-
My set of sheds scored 433 5/8, he did loose a lot of length and a few points, but he gained in other places, great thing about these non typicals is you get different rack every year
-
Tell them that Utah can age them
They aged all my bulls oldest being 12 1/2
-
Sheds scored 433 5/8? what size spread are you giving him?
-
40 inches for sheds
-
thats what i figured, thanks!
