Darn nice way to start off your first hunting season. He missed him at 20 and smoked him at 40. I seen the woody's jump and he missed them at 20 yards and then a pair of mallards jumped up after the shot and headed out the same way the woody's did and i was watching the mallards now at 20 yards and my son shoots again and says I got one. Both mallards are still in the air so I look my left and at 40 yards a i see what i consider a pretty nice trophy falling to the ground. The second picture is of day 2 with Johnsc6's son they had a ball.

Sweeet!

Whose going to taxidermy him up for him?
-
Great photos. I think that bottom one is just as good as the top one. Meaning it might be also a good candidate for photo of the month material from my point of view.
-
Great memory for the kids...grats! ;)

That's what I am talking about! Great job! I cannot wait till mine pass the class and start hunting with me!

Thanks, Had to go back and read the rules again, wasn't sure how many you could have in there.

I'm not sure none of the big boys are doing birds around were any more unless you really want to pay, i have a few leeds i need to check out, i want to get him out of the freezer before a ends up under a package of elk steaks.

Try Mike Casper in Walla Walla. I know it's a long ways away to take it but he is well worth it in both price and quality. Not to mention, there's a good chance he'd have it back before Christmas. He doesn't sit on birds like most Taxidermists do while they mount the big stuff, in fact he does a lot of the birds for the other guys.

hows about michelle nelson on here? does she do birds?
she's a member here...hit her up.

Nice pics. Looks like a great day in the field.
Looks like a nice pay day for you too, T-Roy. I'm sure it feels good to watch your kids be so successful. Can't wait for that.

I don't think she does birds, too much red tape. None the less, sweet bird!!! I am still waiting for my first Woodduck.....lucky kid
-
I dig the duck but where can i get some of those superman slippers? :chuckle:
-
Nice...I've only seen two wood ducks shot and both were shot by a relative. Absolutely beautiful. Great to see the smiles on the kids faces.

Great job on the first duck!!!!!! I have been duck hunting for 15 plus years and have been waiting for teh drake woody. :bash:

Michele does not do birds. :'( I wanted her do do some for me this year and when we talked about it, she told me she did not do birds. I am looking for someone in the Seattle area... yeah right, Bob... good luck with that! :bash:

That is great nothing better than seeing a first timer get a trophy, truly a great memory.

Thats awesom Troy, I cant wait for my to be born then get old enough to take hunting. I still have never harvested a wood duck myself, that sure is a trophy.
