I don't understand your strategy... Your blind is in a terrible spot for you to hunt your land. Who posts their fence every 50 yards and then sets up their blind for a perfect shot on the neighbors property? I guess technically they could wait for deer to hop the fence but that hasn't been our experience in the past. It's in a very weird spot for that to be the strategy.
-
Go up there and post a sign facing the blind, they should get the hint. :bash:
-
Perhaps that is the only/best tree in the area?
Maybe they are shooting parallel to the fence line? I know I don't set my stand squared up in the direction I most likely will shoot.
-
Maybe the deer like his side of the fence !!!!! Lmao !!
-
Set up a ground blind on your side, with a camera in it.
-
Hey, I've got trespassers setting up blinds ON my property - too far away to deal with it.
-
If someone sets up blinds on YOUR property then they become YOUR property!!!
-
So the tree stand is not on your property?
-
I see so many things that could get me pissed off having property next to that person :chuckle:.
Who's fence is it and on who's property is the fence on? Let's start there.

It's possible but doubtful. You would have to sit sideways in it to shoot parallel. Plenty of other trees and lots of open ground on their side but they can't shoot that direction the way the stand is.

I always was under the impression if a sign says no hunting, that means no one can hunt not even the property owner technically? Am I wrong? Unless further down on that sign it says something about needing permission.
-
You are mistaken. I thought the same thing as well. my neigbor had another elk poached on her property and I asked the question of the warden. It is also on the WDFW website link. Check out the link to the WDFW website http://wdfw.wa.gov/help/categories/Land-Owner%7B47%7DSportsman+Relations/.
Here is the cut and paste version!
1.Can a landowner post their property to No Hunting, Fishing, or Trespassing, and still hunt and fish on their land or allow friends to do so?
•Yes, access to private property is at the discretion of the landholder.
•A person is guilty of unlawful posting if the individual posts signs preventing hunting or fishing on any land not owned or leased by the individual, or without the permission of the person who owns, leases, or controls the land.

I am not sure where that rumor got started but its a seriously common belief among those who don't hunt. I beileve in a few states there are some more complex posting rules which may be where it started from.
As for the OP that is just plain rude and a serious lack of manners OR someone looking for a fight in this world it could go either way.

What is up with all of the empty threats on this forum? "I better not catch you doing this" "I would whoop your butt" etcetera. If the landowner setup that blind on his property then he isn't doing anything wrong. Heck he could setup a blind right against the fence line and still be fine... however, maybe I am missing something. What exactly is there to complain about where his stand is? Is it next to your property?
-
The part you missed is 'better not be crossing the fence" which is trespassing. And I would never 'whoop' but but I would call the game warden. That is not an empty threat.
If he wants to set his blind in a super inconvenient place for him that is his business as long as he doesn't trespass. The other part you are missing is just the arrogance of it... they have aggressively posted their land, in a place where the only people will see it us while hunting. This fence line is not accessible or visible from any road. So the signs are for us, no one hunting this land has ever trespassed on their land as far back as I can remember which would be at least 12 years of hunting out there and predating any of the signs being posted. Meanwhile they set their stand to shoot on to my cousins property. If the strategy is to shoot deer jumping the fence they are missing the two main trails with this stand placement. I can't think of any reason to have a stand here except to shoot deer on property they don't have permission to access while they post the heck out of their land.
-
Maybe he's hunting the other side of the fence? We will never know. I wouldn't worry about it unless I actually caught the person hunting form the blind into the private property land then I would say something or call a game warden. Until then we all continue to "assume" what this person is doing and you know what they say about assuming? This is just a picture that looks like the obvious which is hunting over private land.

Usually when people take the time and energy to put up that many No Trespassing signs, is because someone gave them a reason to put them up... like trespassers. Maybe someone on your side of the fence gave the land owner on the other side a reason to put up the trespassing signs that you don't know about. I am not accusing you or anyone of this, I am trying to show you a possible alternative or reason. Maybe a new land owner and he didn't want his blind messed with? However, this is just more assuming, and like Natas5150 said, there is a lot of assuming going on. All I see is someone using their private land as they want to. Now, if you do catch someone trespassing, then I could see there being a reason for flaming someone, but until then...
-
I mentioned its possible they are hunting only their side. You would have to see the whole set up and it would be pretty obvious what's happening. I took the picture. I've been hunting there for over a decade. I've interacted with them before.
I'm going with my assumptions over yours.

:yeah: The last I checked that stand isn't on this guys property.

Guess Im confused. The stand is on his own property. Who cares if he his hunting a fence line. Nothing illegal about it. Maybe its a natural deer route. Until the property owner does something wrong I don't see an issue. Parking trucks, blasting music to annoy or otherwise aggravate.....I don't get it.

It's not. If he wanted to be on the main trail where deer cross he has missed it by a few hundred yards. Again, if you could see the whole picture and where the stand is you would be asking the same questions I am.

Okay, you are correct, we do not understand the entire situation because we only have one photo to view and no information about the area. So we need a better understanding of the area and layout of the land and property line.
I was taught, we should always try to bring a resolution/recommendation to the table if we are going to complain about a situation. My recommendation to you is you and your cousin provide everyone active on this thread written permission to access your land. Then, we can all head down there at our leisure and see in person how this setup. I will take dibs during any open deer season. I am sure I could find a great spot to setup a ground blind on your side of the fence, maybe right in front of that sign. :chuckle:
All kidding aside, I am now very interested in the layout of the land. The more you describe it, the more I want to see how it is setup. Can you provide any more details or a general photo of the area? Maybe PM me an aerial view? Don't worry, I won't trespass or share location or information about it. I am just trying to understand just exactly how this is laid out. Curiosity is getting the best of me now.

Well, one thing your missing. You don't know what his view looks like. Could look totally different than what your used to looking at. How long has he owned the land? BROThers a great point about stand placement. It ain't no thing to shoot a rifle sideways.
What was the meaning of the original post? To vent, call someone you know out? If he trespasses fine, that's an issue maybe. But to rant about some crime that may happen, sometime, somewhere, somehow, before it even happens, is just a bunch of bluster.
As far as the responses urging petty tit for tat aggravation, that's chicken S. Pretty manly stuff. And incredibly logical. Lol

Fair point and I apologize for my "I better not..." bluster. Edit made to the OP. It's not even my place to fuss about it as I'm just grateful to have a place to hunt.
Just a vent out of frustration I suppose. Lots of change in landowners, lots of poaching, a very tough year for bucks and a good hunting spot that probably won't be around much longer. None of that is the neighbors fault but the stand placement and the dozens of signs bugs me and has for a few years.

Well, do your best to tip one over.
Twas I, I'd make friends with him. Maybe you guys could hunt each other's land. Good luck bro.

I agree with this. Make friends and maybe you could use both sides of the fence... and a tree stand that is ready to go ;)
Anyways, good luck this year, hope you get a big one!

You folks can have it your way. I just don't dig sarcasm, especially online. Anytime I suspect sarcasm,in my mind, the person doing it automatically transforms into a 17 year old passive aggressive school girl.
Let your yes be yes, and your no mean no.
