Title: Which Danners?
Post by: need2huntmor on January 19, 2009, 02:06:32 PM: Due to a warranty return on a set of boots that Danner no longer makes, I have $190 towards any other pair of Danners that I want. Just looking for any recomendations from others out there. I will use them mainly for big game hunting, but also for an all around hunting boot. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Have had a couple pair of Trophys but the Canadians fit much better. They are heavier than they should be but have great support and they pass the truest of all tests...after a day of 3500' gains and 10 miles your feet still feel good.

Post by: JACKALL on January 19, 2009, 06:25:09 PM: I prefer the trophy's over the canadians only because they have stiffer leather. The canadians broke down alot faster for me than the trophy's. The only down fall is that you really have to break the trophy's in alot more. Good Luck! :twocents:

Post by: whacker1 on January 19, 2009, 08:15:01 PM: I agree Trophy's hold up better than Canadians. I currently hae he Cabela's Elk Hunter made by Danner, which are my favorite. The Trophy's I believe are very close the the Elk Hunters.

Post by: need2huntmor on January 20, 2009, 02:40:59 PM: The Full Curls are the boots that I sent back after they tore my feet up this elk season. Danner no longer makes them. Does anyone know anything about the Montana Hunters? Is that a new boot by Danner? Does Danner still make the Elk Hunters? Or is that boot only made for Cabelas now? Thanks for the info!

My feet got a little warm this year during early archery but other than that these boots have never hurt my feet. They are warm and completely water proof. I have had this set for 6 years now, well worth the money. good luck

You wont find a lighter boot that will keep you warmer then these....

Post by: huntnphool on January 28, 2009, 08:44:20 PM: I have two different Frontiers, one insulated and the other non. Both of them have been spectacular boots right out of the box, no break in and long lasting. The insulated ones are almost too warm, its got to be very cold for me to wear them.

Post by: mbforest on February 12, 2009, 09:59:55 AM: i own a set of pronghorns and a set of 10" super rainforests the pronghorns are nice and light but made for light use. i tore up the leather on those and wore the soles off them in 10 months. The rainforests are the way to go, a little expensive but last a long time.

Post by: TopOfTheFoodChain on March 03, 2009, 12:32:38 PM: I've been wearing the same pair of Trophy's for 9 years now. I love them. For me they work well enough for all seasons. Little warm during early bow, just barely cold toes in snow shoes in 2-1/2 feet of snow last weekend in Methow Valley. The bob soles work well in mud but lousy on wet rock, quiet in the woods. I have never had wet feet in them the entire 9 years so far and I don't avoid creeks. I keep them in good care with the Danner waterproofer and leather conditioner, never walk on pavement as the bob sole is very soft. I probably put about 100 woods miles per year on them and they are very comfortable. They are will worth the $300 + and Made In The USA! Good luck on your next pair.

If you go to the Portland store I think they will still measure your feet and make you a custom boot for no extra charge. One foot is a little wider or smaller? They'll make em fit right. I've never done it but always wanted to. On my second pair of Super Rainforests. First pair leak like crazy but fit like slippers. Bought them in 1995, still wear them today. My second pair is 3 years old and just really starting to get comfy...
