I'm hoping that someone might PM me that tagged out in the early hunt or tags out early in the late hunt with any info as to the general location of any nice bulls (i.e. drainage, logging road, etc.). I'm leaving to start looking for my bull in a couple hours and this is my first time visiting the unit (I have a toddler, an infant and am working two jobs). I have a buddy who has done some scouting for me but so far has come up empty handed except for cows and a few small bulls. Hopefully luck will be on my side and pics and a story will follow in the coming week! Thank you.

I would look at old 49 N threads. Lots of guys post road names, drainage's etc because these are OIL opportunities. You could also find people on old threads who hunted the unit and PM them questions.
Good luck

Thanks X-FORCE. I actually forgot about the search option. After reading through the archived posts, I'm bracing for the hater's after rereading my original post!

Im sure you can get some locals over there to help you out and even go with you... Its a OIL tag so there is no real secrets to be kept for Moose unless they have a tag... if I lived over in Moose Country I would help you find one to shoot in a heart beat... Who wouldn't want to go on a moose hunt?? :dunno: :twocents:

Hit up the sporting goods store in Coleville, I'm sure they have some maps and would give you some pointers. That is a great unit, lots of clear cuts. You could start up off of Hwy 20 and turn into the Little Pend Orielle Wildlife area. There is a lot of good land in there. Good luck.

I do live here in 113 and hunt in 117 and agree completely. why not tell or help out? any moose I see will surely die of old age before I have a tag. and I love to hunt and help others if I can. need help packing? give me a call

The ski hill is getting some snow today according to their web site.

I've seen quite a few moose in the clearcuts up Winchester Creek and also near Power Lake. There are moose throughout the whole unit, so just keep moving and you'll see them. Good Luck!
